I dunno, he's 6'1 and 204lbs, but they say he needs to get stronger? He could help score some goals, but the last thing we need is another russian with difficult contract negotiations.
-
Hossa just got signed for 3 years, 18 million. He's staying put.
-
Depends on the rumor. Hank for Belfour? Dats for Heatley?
-
Draper won the selke and will make around 2 million. Well worth it.
-
There's no way Atlanta will ever trade Heatley. However, I would dump Hank and Dats for Heatley alone. Heatley is a sure fire all star and is very, very nice guy and will be a top 5 player in the league for years to come. Yzerman could mentor him for a year or 2.
-
He also fought 4 or 5 cops in Florida when he was tasered. I know of at least 2 times he's been caught brawling with the po-po and gotten in no trouble. Hell, look at OJ, he killed 2 people!! You do make a very good point, but we no longer have the option to pick up anybody who is both skilled and tough which is why I'm all about an enforcer. Someone to take the heat off the top guys, which is pretty much or only way to go, unless we start trading.
-
How does he keep getting aquitted of assault charges against officers? They had to taser him once in Florida I believe, and fights 5 cops outside a bar. It doesn't get any simpler than that! Must have one helluva lawyer.

I totally agree, and wish they would also. Mike Babcock should help with that. But I still dunno how effective they will be. Goons won't change that, especially not in the playoffs, but I still wouldn't mind one or two. A fast grinding style is what most of the playoffs are, and I would love our team to compete like that. However, most of our grinders and physical guys are too old to make a difference, and our younger guys shy away from physical contact. However, goons will make the regular season easier for us, IMO.

This is worse than the Federov for Datsyuk rumors. He makes like $4.5 a year doesn't he?
-
lol, that would be fantastic. Hell, it would probably be good for him, there aren't any police offers to fight on the ice.
-
Yeah, It sounded good in my head, but didn't tranfer to the keyboard well. I was agreeing that there's no way either will ever be physical.
-
He's a third liner at best, he needs no prection. He is pretty lazy, but in a 3rd line role he's a pretty good option. Depth foward with some toughness is all that his career will come to, and that's all we woulda expected outta him. He's nowhere near a enforcer or scoring foward. But that's another post altogethor. Datsyuk can be shifty bastard. I remember him hitting Ference and tearing up his knee. He also layed somebody else out, don't remember who, but they weren't expecting it outta him. However, constant hitting will never be part of his game. If he tried to make it that way, he'd be injured constantly. Zetterberg I've never seen hit anybody. However, you really don't want a bunch of your top minute guys fighting and getting dirty.

I think this thread has gotten a little outta control. Let me point out I'm not lobbying for Brown or McCarthy, but any player who can fight well. At this point, I don't care if they can skate, but given their job, it really doesn't depend on it too much. I woulda loved to see a skilled foward with some toughness, but that's out the window, so I'll settle with a goon or anybody who will contribute physically.
-
I must agree.

Wouldn't you like to know. Sorry, not interested, I'm married. Well I do agree it takes some balls to go with Bertuzzi, I'm a little worried that our "goon" is 43 years old. During the 2004 season he also took on someone from Nashville, I forget his name, that was 23. He didn't do too bad, but he certainly didn't look comfortable. Bad example, because they had Big Bert to make him pay the price, which was way over board. But, if somebody took a shot like that at Yzerman, I would want more than an apology. A goon won't stop any hitting, but it won't encourage people to run over us. I didn't realize he had the chance.

I was going to take this post seriously until I read that Chelios can clear the crease. I'm not high on Brown, I can appreciate his role on his team. I'll take anybody who is a "goon", but he seems like a pretty good choice. Just because he can't score goals doesn't means he's not good at what he does. A lot of teams have been active other than Philly. Goon-wings is better than the Faggy-wings.
-
lol, but then we'de have to pay $450,000 for a pylon. I checked the FA tracker, still nothing on him yet.
-
Shut up. If you were any kind of hockey player you would understand Brown's talent is worth just as much as Delmore's, depending on the team. Move on, everybody else has.
-
LOL, I know what you mean. Only 4 more hours here and I'm free!!!! From what I've seen, Redwingscentral.com is usually pretty up to date with the lesser player signings, and they don't have anything yet.
-
lol, sorry, over estimated your age. 8 years sounds a little more like it. PM me and we can discuss it!
-
I know, we are a sorry bunch.
-
lol, how old are you, 15? If you want to test my knowledge, please, PM me and we can take care of it there. And you want me to do research? Why don't you pull your thumb outta your ass and do some yourself. Who hasn't minnesota traded for s**t? Gaborik, Fernandez, and Roloson. They value prospects and picks over players. They're whole philosophy is team first, players second.
-
Delmore has to be a GR signing, if he's signed. It makes little sense with the D-men we have to get a power play specialist.
-
You sound like a broken record. We need talent. We need talent. Not too much talent at $450,000. You didn't get the memo Barnes? Lidstrom, Schneider, and Kronwall apparently aren't offensive enough to bolster our d-core.
-
Yet again, saying they are cutting down on obstruction and doing it are 2 different things. They've said that in the past before too. None the less, we cannot afford talented players who are tough. Everybody from here on out has a serious problem is some aspect of their game. I would love to have talented tough guys, but we have to be realistic. Brown has good leadership qualities too, which is never a bad thing. I'm not saying Brown has all the answers, but he's an option and a good one at that.
