Don't we have until Aug 14th to sign players from overseas?
-
He's 6'5 but doesn't even weigh 200 pounds. If he bulks up he would fantastic. Thank god this draft was so half assed with the lockout, seems like we might have picked up some good late rounders.
-
He's a steal for the 3rd round.

Bingo. Didn't address any of our problems. Toughness, HUGE hole in right wing, or playoff scoring. I understand that you can't tell if someone is going to be a playoff bust until they make the playoffs, but 0 points in 11 games in their post season doesn't help. Not to mention their 1st pick was an offensive d-man who went 3 months without scoring.

That is the problem. He shoulda came over last year to continue his development. He had nothing left to accomplish, but didn't venture over here. As Barnes said, he'll be 25 in December and has no N.American hockey experience. If he doesn't come over now, he'll be pretty close to 30 before he can crack the line-up, if Howard lets him. Personally I would love to see him come over, from what I understand he's quite a character, but I doubt we'll ever find out.

If Liv doesn't come over at the start of this season, he's pretty much done. He's getting older and won't accomplish anything else in sweden to help with his NHL skills. Howard definatly looks better at this point, and Liv is a lot older and doesn't have any experience with the North American style.

It would be awesome to have Bertuzzi, because if somebody hit one of our guys, Bert would try to kill them. Literally. But if he does get traded, I doubt it will be to western confrence team, seeming how they'de have to play him a lot.
-
He's actually an UFA, a certain number of years played and under the leauge average.

It seems like the wings always get good picks from europe. Do you think that not being able to sign them to bigger contracts will have them looking at N. America more? I think Russians are gonna be extremly hard to bring stateside.

McGrath easily led the team with 87 points and seemed to have a great playoff year too. His team voted him most improved which is kinda obvious. Grigs seemed to get a lot better too as the season progressed. His team traded him or loaned him or something and he started scoring and playing well again.

Is the North division tougher?

Oilers ask permission to suspend operations of AHL
ToddDaGod replied to Lidstrom5 D-Man's topic in General
I read somewhere that the only reason they brought them there was to have some kind of hockey revenue coming in and had no plans to keep them after the lockout was ended. -
Well, apparently now Grigs just signed with a russian team, making his N. American debut questionable. I hope they still bring him over.

You and me both.

Thibault isn't nearly as bad as your are making him out to be. While Cechmanek's numbers are better, he was on a way better team longer than Thibault. What happened when he moved to LA? And if you want to judge by numbers, Lethonen's numbers are easily the best, but he's played 4 NHL games. And Boucher is better than Thibault??? I have no idea what you based your list on. Skill? How do you know Miller is better than Thibault? He has only played in the AHL. You said Thibault has yet to pan out, yet was on the 2002-03 all-star team.

He will be over next year, prolly for GR. He would have been over this year if he didn't almost die. He's gonna be awsome to watch. I don't know how long McGrath is away, but he will be quite a nice addition too, although he's nowhere near the physical presence Griggy is.
