Bettman would love women in the NHL. It would mean less fighting. I don't think men would check women as hard or as often. That would change the game, and ruin it in my humble opinion. Some things need to remain gender-specific, methinks. Think they'll let a man on a pro womens' basketball team? Think we'll ever see a woman and a man in a boxing ring together? Gender-specific is not always wrong.

The Wings have a history of coasting into the post season. They don't care about the President's trophy. They will get W # 50, but it might be the last game of the season. They haven't lost the ability to play.They have not collapsed or imploded. There is a "majical switch" and it will get turned on. None of the coaching staff need to be fired. They want a tank full of gas and a healthy team going into the playoffs. That's all. After Bettman has to hand Stanley over to Lids, again, in the Joe, Y'all will see that what I speak is truth. edit: i think it would be a riot if Nick starts singing the "filet-o-fish" song as he goes up to bettman to get the cup. i know, i know. My thoughts on this go to the folks (3 to 20,000) who bought tickets to a 5:00 game at the Joe and find out that it's been bumped. I wonder how many folks that really couldn't afford those tix to begin with, now can't go and may not be able to recoup their money. Not such a good thing to happen when things are so tough.

The mysterious "on/off" switch exists and was evident again in this game. The Wings spent most of the night in "pylon" mode: floating around, not much fore/back checking, legs not moving, screening Ozzie. The shorter amount of time that the "switch" was flipped off "plyon", they only gave 75-80% effort.....lots of posts, but too many shots to the breadbasket. Repeated giveaways in our end, bad passing, yada, yada, yada. Same crap we've seen all year. Same crap we've seen at the end of regular season for years. Blech. Cough, cough. Doesn't matter. Wings will flip the switch to "full on" for the PO's and this board will be a smile-fest again. Well, mostly a smilefest. There are those unfortunates that see rain clouds even when the parade is driving down Woodward. (you know who you are, unfortunates)

Hmmthesharks, Ratbastrd and Thesupafly.....Y'all are knowledgeable fans of a formidable opponent. Classy replies to some snotty digs = always welcome here in my book. Like any other fansite, we have some teenaged (no matter how old they are) homers here that will abuse opponent's fans no matter how well they behave. I would apologize for them, but I don't think you require that. To write the Sharks off, rash of injuries included, is dangerous. It can be said that the Sharks have won in the regular season before with no playoff results, yada, yada, yada..... This team is different. They have a lot of heart. I don't write them off at all. Kudos to the Sharks and their fans for a great season. I hope you crash and burn in the playoffs, but not till you play the Almighty Wings With (beachball) Ozzie in net! lol. Seriously, I think the Wings will meet the Sharks in the WCF. My homerism says that the Wings will win in 6. Time will tell though.
