My, my, my. The mindset around here blows me away sometimes. It seems that if the Wings are not many points ahead of the pack, looking down on the rest of the league, some around here think there is no hope. Seems that the Wings have been so good for so long that some folks have this kind of sense of entitlement. The Wings place in the standings is not guaranteed.....either way. Goaltending has not been what we alll want this season, neither has the defense. Offense has been above average, but not strong enough to outscore our goals against every time. Personally, I find the rollercoaster ride exciting. No one can say for certain who will hoist the Cup. The Wings have been struggling, for sure, but is there no hope at all of pulling out of it? Do you really think the Sharks will not have any slumps this year? Both of those seem like a stretch of the imagination, to me. There are those who seem to think they have a crystal ball or some other wonderful method of reading the future, but I think that is retarded thinking. I remember a Cup run a few years back when the Wings were down in a series and hope was just about gone. Then Nick let one fly form center ice and the whole thing turned around. To those who don't know how to hope, I feel very sorry for you. What a way to view life. I am looking forward to the excitement of the Wings pulling everything together, with or without the Presidents Trophy or home ice advantage. It's the process I'm talking about. If being optimistic bugs some folks, that's ok. If my hope is misplaced and the Wings don't win the Cup, feel free to rub my face in it. If they do pull out of this and win, I won't rub yours in it. That's not how I roll. Now, where is Shawty. She got the apple bottom jeans. The boots wit the furrrrrr........ Ahhhh, pleasant distractions.......

bleh. Crosby threads....goalie threads.....both seem to get equally out of hand and equally retarded. People state their opinions ( which may or not have any value ) on either of these plentiful threads around here, and the fireworks begin. C'mon, folks. It ain't nothin new, and it ain't gonna change. Get drawn in or don't. It's only as important as you want it to be.

Here's a shot of me and "the Skipper" on August 10, 2008 at Comerica, during the players photo on the field day.

A perfectly acceptable excuse! lol. It's grreat to go down to the Joe to see a game, but it's sssoooo much better when they win! In attendance were: HOCKEY MATTERS Ms_Hockey & her Dad JayUp88 Lots of hockey talk, good stories, good food (the food at this Cheli's is a little different form the others ... better, imho) and lights and horn when the wings score was pretty cool. Our waitress was pleasant and on the ball. Though it wasn't packed on a Thursday night there were quite a few people there - all of them hockey fans. Next meeting is on Saturday the 21st at the same location.

There was some interest in having a second get together in the month of February, so here it is. Also, I noticed that there was another gathering in the works a little west/north, so I decided to call these HQ (east) so other folks could use north, west and south. We're all in Metro Detroit so that makes us RWN HQ, as opposed to RWN WEST, which VIB16 is bustin out on the west coast. Hopefully this makes things easier and less confusing. Anyway, please note that the meeting on the 21st is still on. Is that heart of stone melting a little, mindfly? Glad to see a little optimism on your part. Several of us from the LGW are meeting at Cheli's Chili in Clinton Twp. to watch this one. Never been to this Cheli's, but from what I understand, they have a Joe-like scoreboard hanging down with lights and a horn that go off when the Wings score. Anyone in the area is welcome to stop by! edit: to stay on topic....Wings win 4 - 0. Oz stuns all with a golden performance.

yep, i do. been on both sides of that fence occasionally. tpbm has been ignored here for reasons unknown to them.

As stated before here, that will change if/when Hossa gets signed.
