HOCKEY MATTERS

Football and baseball weren't always so popular. With the advent of tv and radio, inetrest grew because these games were broadcast to people that didn't know or understand the sport. Games weren't broadcast because of interest in them, they were shoved down the throats of viewing/listening audiences until people that were not already fans understood them. The NHL will never be a top 4 sport unless this happens. If the league wants to grow the sport exponentially they will have to spend a lot of time and money making people see something they don't understand, and then like it. That';s not going to happen...hell, they won't even give existing fans a good quality system of broadcasts now. I actually want hockey to remain a niche sport. If the league grows to 50, 60 70 or 80 teams, the game will have changed into something I wouldn't watch anyway. Look at the changes that have come about to add teams where they are now. Stop looking at other sports to determine the heart of hockey. Stop watering it down with politically and socially correct behavior. It's hockey. If you don't like it, don't watch. Just leave us alone or we will take you to the boards like it's game 7 of the SCF. I don't care if people don't like it. What...you wanna go?

No need to apologize....I was thinking on the way out that I maybe should have stayed home! In attendance were: Rivalred, Hocky&beer (mr. & mrs.) and myself. Good game and very good company! Seems like folks want to meet for the Washington game on the 31st. Thinking maybe the Buffalo Wild wings in the Clem. Probly start a thread tomorrow and see what folks think.

As of 3:00, plows are working on Groesbeck and Hall roads. Roads are in good shape. Called Buffalo Wild Wings....they are open till 2:00 and the kitchen closes at 1:45.

wow. we must have hit the post button at nearly the same time. WEATHER UPDATE There were some concerns by a few folks yesterday afternoon and evening about the weather. Instead of 4-8" that was forcast, they say we are looking at 2-5", which is much more agreeable for driving. RivalRed and I will both be there. Sounds like Matt may show. Hope the rest aren't scaired off by a few flurries. We got together for the last meeting of the Wings and Sharks and had a blast. :carrot: :banana: edit: after posting I saw that the carrot and banana aren't dancing. They must be Sharks fans, stunned again!
