I am really disappointed in the lack of interest in getting together in the Metro Detroit area. Both times I went to an LGW get together I had a great time and met some very cool board members. I know it's convenient to sit home (with all the comforts) but a gathering of like minded Wings maniacs ....how cool is that? The high gas price argument seems a little weak to me. Take a couple peanut butter sammiches to work on Monday instead of buying a Big Mac for lunch. I guess I'm not a fan....more like a fanatic, but that's just me. *sighs*

I agree with the original post. WCF should be on Tuesday and Thursday. Off topic a little....I will be at Greenfield Village this weekend participating as a Civil War reenactor for the Memorial Day weekend at the Village. The Village is open till 8 or 9 pm on Saturday. I will try to be discreet so as not to start an exodus, but I am going A.W.O.L. on Saturday night. I will escape to Bailey's on Michigan Ave. I will be brought up on charges on Sunday morning and probably shot for desertion. I will give the last full measure for the Winged Wheel. back on topic....Bettman is a fool. Going up against the NBA toe-to-toe, he (and the sport) will lose. He is the ultimate moosefart.

He isn't playing any better or worse than anyone else on the team. The last 2 games the Wings did not possess the puck as they usually do. They were chasing the Stars. All were making bad "old man" passes. All were skating "old man" slow. If you throw 24 under the bus you have to throw some others under, too. If you think benching Cheli is going to magically make everythig tighten up you are mistaken. He is not the problem here.

Welcome to the board. Nice to have sane posters form opposing teams here. Poke a little good natured fun = o.k. with me. I share you attitude; the Wings were not supposed to do much this year according to early analysists (cuz they all have crystal balls that are never wrong). The Stars have had a great season and truly deserve to be in the WCF, and are a worthy opponent. Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs but I have a feeling this is the last game of this series. Good luck to Y'all. Oh, Turdco should forget about the stick up Homer's ass....he really likes the feeling and plays better with lumber in the posterior. GO WINGS!

QFT!!!! I would also add this....hockey doesn't need to move forward, it needs to move backward. But. You either understand hockey and want to take time to figure out all the quirks and plays and wouldn't need the glow puck or you're the "casual" channel flipper who will watch 30 seconds and change the channel because no one "scored" Americans get bored very quickly. The media have conditioned us...flashing images so fast on the screen that the naked eye sees a blur. Information is picked up by a subconscious (unconscious) mind that is not thinking. I don't want hockey to go subliminal. If you can't follow the puck...sit your butt down and learn how to WATCH the game. All the "hardcore" fans learned how to do it so it IS possible. I say; don't teach new fans to be pansys. Show them old clips of fights, sit their asses down ant teach them the game. If they don't have the patience to learn...f*** 'em. I would rather the sport die out completely than to continue morphing into a non-violent, politically-correct bowl of baby food. To hell with bells and whistles and glow pucks shiny, pretty lights on jerseys with ads on them. Keep it up, Bettman. There will come a day when I won't turn it on anymore. Changing the game won't bring in new fans and make it more popular than the 4th sport at best. When you have driven all the people who care about the game it will die. I hate that man.

What I don't get is why, when the Wings are on fire, does anyone in their right mind ponder making changes? Do the Wings really need to get any better at this point...and if so to what end? They are clearly controlling all aspects of each series. They are making good teams look 2nd string. Why would someone want more? Embarrass thier opponents? (the wings already are...whaddaya want MORE icing on the cake) Do yo think the league and the world in general will give the Wings more love? (ani't gonna happen, and franlky, i like how this team is viewed...all the sweeter when they get shorthanders on crappy calls) Don't be greedy, folks. Stop complaining and enjoy the ride.

Every team everywhere always has and always will think that they are getting the short end of the whislte......according to THIER fans. C'mon folks. This ain't nothing new. The difference between the Wings and so many other teams is that they stay focused and don't let it gnaw at thier insides to make them lose poise. And it sure is sweet when the Wings offer up a shorthander as a statement of disapproval, huh? Pretty goal....very pretty goal. Turdco looked pretty silly. Karma.

Man! I would love to go, and you know I'd be there......but I have this commitment that I am having a really hard time weasaling out of.

Christmas is right around the corner. Box the first one up, spray a little febreeze on it and give it to a Wings fan in December. Then check a name off your list.
