HOCKEY MATTERS

I am a Civil War reenactor. April is when we begin practicing for the upcoming season. We were at Fort Wayne Indiana, I showed up at the last formation (everyone lines up for parade inspection) of the day with 1860's military clothes and a Wings baseball cap on. We were given lists of duties to perform during the evening. My whole company went A.W.O.L. and went to Hooters to watch the game. When asked by the Battalion commander why we missed our assigned duties my reply was: "Hey, it's hockey. It's the playoffs. HOCKEY MATTERS." The Blues are his team. I got in trouble, but that's how it goes, I guess.

Personally, I would back out of the previous engagement and take my chances on forgiveness later. Your sis knows that you are a fan(atic), right? Send flowers (girls like that kind of thing, I hear) and join us at Champps. She couldn't stay mad forever, right? note: I have bummed some folks out before cuz HOCKY MATTERS after all. but that's just me.

the only thing better than an aflac gdt is a PLAYOFF aflac gdt! Wings need to keep thier heads up, I think. Especially if they pull too far ahead. Preds will be looking to hurt/maim.

As if the preds play a holier-than-thou clean game. too too bashed Mac in the face with an elbow and no call with a ref right there. It's the playoffs. shut up and watch.

I would be interested in another one of these. Last one I went to we met at Champps on Big Beaver (16 mile) in Troy. I could travel though.

I thought the Wings played a smart game last night. The BJ's played pretty well and the Wings played hard enough to match them. It's great that they won the Presidents' trophy but to play like it was game 7 of the finals is not very smart imho. Why add more names to the injured list with 2 games left in the regular season? It wasn't boring for me to watch the Wings start slowly then pull out of the funk and begin playing a tighter game. I like watching the Wings match the level of intensity of the oppositions play then turn on some majic switch and win in the final minutes or seconds. It's like we own them or something. That's not boring to me. But, to each his own.

Wow. When I first saw this thread...6 pages...I thought "cool. 6 pages of on topic discussion about different players....." I am so naieve sometimes. Same handful of posters hijacking another thread instead of starting one on the topic they want to switch it to. Then comes the name-calling and swearing. So predictable. The real question is: how did they make thise things without the players permission? I don't even want to think about a license agreement.

Item 1) I have so many names on my e-mail blocked senders list that it takes a loooong time to block more senders of junk. I am contemplating clearing the list but I'm afraid there will be an avalanche of new junk that I will never be able to dig out. Item 2) There are way too many trolls on the board lately. Even worse, there are too many people feeding them.

What?! No doom and gloom in this post? Not even a hint that the Wings have sucked since February and can't even lace thier skates up properly like a gritty high second line scoring team of winners (that include 91) should? Friend, you are not toeing the line of the latest fad. All statistical evidence points toward disaster. You are not blending in with the pessimistic pack. They are coming for you. Seriously, thank gawd there are still some folks around here that are capable of the unknown excitement that is playoff hockey. It's kind of depressing, IMHO, to witness the handfull of moosefarts around here that piss and moan about how the end is not near...it's here. To them I say...shut up and be entertained. Or just shut up.

I've just read all 7 pages of this thread for the first time. When the thread started I didn't want to pop in several times a day to watch it slowly evolve. Waiting is more entertaining for me. My mind is numb. I wonder how differently this diatribe would have went if everyone was sitting at a large table together in the same room. I bet some folks might be nicer to each other. ......and nowww, back to the show......
