    a holmstrom encounter wuss out

You did the right thing. A guy at the movies with his kids should be cut some slack. My sister has a great story. She walked into a Target years ago and ran right into Stevie Y and family. She tensed up and gasped when she recognized him. Which caused Stevie Y to tense up at the coming encounter. When she realized that, she just smiled and walked on down the aisle. Later she glanced up and saw them leaving and Stevie gave her a wave and smile in appreciation.

    Who drew you in?

Roger Crozier. I guess I am a lot older than most of you guys. The way you followed the Wings when I was growing up was with a transistor radio up against your ear. The best radio call ever was "Crozier with the save!" I was hooked from that moment on.

SCF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 0

I love you Coach B, but for the rest of the series send out Cheli and D-mac to take us home. It'a going to get ugly and I'll bet you George La Rock Head will be taking the ice. Play our badasses from now on.

Uh, did you mean to say Lilja? He might be able to take the Zamboni driver, but I wouldn't put much money on it.

Thank god it's 2-0. They are beating us to the puck now. Yeah, I probably worry too much.

Get Chelli back out there for crying out loud. Lilja belongs in Grand Rapids. The only dumb move Babcock has made this series.

You got that right. DD and Ozzie are the best Wings on the ice.

Good Lord! if this doesn' take the cake. Old men playing golf are higher on the sports ladder than the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. This is an all time low.

Hi Loo, Is that why I am seeing the blue Sports In Demand box on the screen right now? I have been working late all week and haven't turned it on since I DVR'd the last game. What a rip off NHL Center Ice has been. I have been dreaming of the day D Mac steps out onto the ice at the Joe since he showed up in Flint, and not only will I miss it, but now the whole package is dead in the water. I guess this is a sign that my Spartans are going to get killed tonight too. Yes, I am depressed. I'll call them right now, but did you get any sort of reply from TWC Austin?

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

Hi Michael, I just came across this post and hope you are still following this thread. Do you have any updates on this? It is now the end of December and I still can't find the NHL Network on Time Warner in Austin. I called customer service to ask about it, and they are pretty clueless about hockey down here and didn't really know what I was talking about. Should some of us try and contact Wes Clarkson?

    NHL Center Ice

To be honest, I don't understand why this is happening. The NHL network sounds like a great idea. I would watch it for a couple hours a day if I could get it. But why on earth would you shut out the hardcore fans who pay $150 a year to watch their teams? You can still start your channel and not hurt your most loyal cash paying fans, No? Anyway, It seems like all my posts this year have been on this subject and I am sick of it. I will quit complaining now. Next year if I decide that 65-70 Wings games are worth the money, I will buy the package again. But at least I will know what I am buying.

    12/19 GDT: Red Wings 6, Kings 2

Yep. I paid $149 . This is the 4th game I have missed so far this year and we haven't even reached the 1/3 mark of the season. My Austin Time Warner rep tells me that they have no intention of bringing the NHL Network onbard. (EVER!) I have sent a compaint every time this has happened. Not once have I recieived a response. Not even a canned we are sorry repsponse. Bettman is the death of the NHL. And we are dying. What a shame.

12/17 GDT: Red Wings 4, Capitals 3 (SO)

Nice post. I really miss playing the Eastern teams. The Caps are better than the record and it looks like they are coming on now. As for Homer, he just told Christine, "We didn't play very good, but we got the points anyway." I love the honesty.

    12/10 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1

I loved this game. It was exactly like a playoff game. I don't want the Wings to just win the easy Hank and Pavel on SportCenter games. I want them to scrap for everything. They did that tonight. Lets recap: 7 wins in a row. Road win after whipping Carolina at the Joe last night. Outshot the Preds 35-28. The best record in the NHL by a long shot. Did I miss anything?

Wow, I see everybody agreeing with you, but I see us leading 2-0 and doubling up the shots on them. On the road no less. Maybe I am just glad the NHL has decided to let me watch the game tonight on Center Ice.

    12/7 GDT: Red Wings 5, Wild 0

Good Luck Wings. This is the 3rd game already this year that I am being shafted by the NHL so I don't have the heart to follow along. I guess I'll watch the Pistons on ESPN. Never again will the NHL get a nickel of my money for the Center Ice package. I feel sorry for this league.

That's amazing. It doesn't even sound like the same company. My Time Warner rep told me, oh well it's not something we control. Take it up with the NHL. And have a nice day. Anyway, I am gettiing this one and that was a pretty crisp period of hockey by the Wings. Should of had at least one more though. I can't make it in to Livonia to see the family tommorow, watching the Wings kind of makes me feel at home. Have a great Thanksgiving all.

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

Puckloo39 is on the right track. The more I thought about this today the angrier I got. When I wrote my e-mail to the NHL last night I flat out accused them of pulling a bait and switch. I don't recall this info being available before we plunked down our cash. I know Bettman doesn't give a crap about the fans, but I don't believe they can get away with this. They sold a product and are now trying to modify the terms. Any lawyers out there?

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

Wow. What a kick in the teeth. I just moved to Austin. The first game after the free preview, I was turned off. It took till the end of the 2nd and 1 hour on the phone until they figured it out. A week later I was turned off again and they blamed the NHL. I watched 1 period again. But the lady was sweet and told me to go watch the Ice Bats. And now this bit of stupidity. Well hey, They got my $150, so I guess I am the dummy. Live and learn.

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

Thank you friend. That cracked me up. Bettman is trying to kill this league. Cheli and everyone else can see this plain as day. So why is the clown still here? I know I am overreacting to todays kick in the teeth, but you just kind of reach your limit. Right?

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?

Unbelievable! The only people they are screwing are the hard core fans who paid $150 a few weeks ago. I don't think I have ever felt so down on the NHL before. I wish I hadn't purchased NHL Center Ice now. It's a scam.

Peguins Declare Impasse in Arena Talks...

By DALE ROBERTSON Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell says he will turn to the NHL to prevent the Pittsburgh Penguins from leaving the state. The announcement came one day after the team said it had reached an impasse in negotiations with state, county and local officials to finance a new arena. ``The governor believes we have put an exceptionally attractive offer on the table,'' according to a statement released by Rendell's office. Later in the day, Rendell told reporters, ``If they don't take it, we're going to be up in New York asking the NHL to bar the Penguins from moving.'' Formidable obstacles on all fronts remain before Houston sports fans should dare believe it possible the city could inherit the NHL's best young hockey team, but it now seems likely the Pittsburgh Penguins' owners will finally pay a visit this week to tour the Toyota Center. Lemeiux and Burkle will then fly on to Los Angeles, where the company that's going to operate Kansas City's new arena is based, to continue discussions on a possible lease. Kansas City is assumed to have the inside track on landing the Penguins if Pittsburgh can't keep them. However, before returning home, Lemieux and Burkle are said to be contemplating a detour through Houston. Late last week it appeared the Penguins was close to finalizing a deal on the construction of a building to replace Pittsburgh's nearly half-century old Mellon Arena. But team officials, who had been silent on the subject for weeks, suddenly issued a statement Monday declaring an impasse, saying they intended "to aggressively explore relocation." The biggest hurdle for a move to Houston, even if the Penguins prove willing, is thought to be Alexander. A team as attractive as the Penguins, who are led by 19-year-old superstar Sidney Crosby, could become a drain on the Rockets' revenues that whatever extra income it generated might not offset. Also, while Alexander has expressed interest in bringing hockey to Houston, it has always been assumed he would only want to own the NHL team himself.

    Osgood vs. Legace

Heres the thing. When Dom and Cujo were taking turns being injured the past season, Manny played his best hockey ever. But when the playoffs started, didn't everyone start begging for Cujo to play? That's how I remember it. In the end, it wasn't about the goalies, It was about the Wings not being able to score goals in the playoffs. How many goals did we score in the Calgary series? Did we lose because of our goalies? No way. If Pavel and Hank and Shanahan don't light it up this year, the same thing will happen. Having said all that that, I voted for Ozzie. He's been there.
