any that gives Blackhawks or Penguins some PP time...

according to Bob McKenzie (TSN) Stars have fired Crawford. this just made my day  "I knew you mother, Marc, and I know she wouldn't be proud of you right now"

I have mine since 2008. cut once in a while, but always present. I''m never going to have Leino, Commodore or Draper look but my wife actually likes the extra hair, just as my daughter and her school pals who all enjoy to torture me once in a while. bare chins are for ladies, mind you

I have a gut feeling that Bolts will pull it. but it's the NHL baby boys and their refs against Tampa, so it wouldn't surprise me if this went the other way around...

part of me felt sorry for them, as I badly wanted Blackhawks to be out. then I realized it's Marc f* Crawford behind the bench and it couldn't get any better for those of you who've missed the video: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=107743 I'd marry the chick in an instant

oh, come on. you don't want to tell him, he's gonna get it?

I'll be pulling my fingers for Preds. they're a pest to play against in playoffs but they deserve their first ever playoff round win after icing quality team year after year despite their difficult market conditions. my gut feeling is that Ducks could pull it, but don't understimate Nashville. they are great at getting the best out of less flashy lineups.

on the other hand, we in Europe get a chance to watch some game in the normal hours, rather than deep in the night. considering the number of European players on Wings roster, this is a nice have for lot of guys in Sweden, Finland or Czech Republic. as for our series - for Phoenix guys this would be like 10.00 in the morning, not nearly the time when my stomach and brain function correctly. talk about bad luck...

I dunno... Wings 2002 looked pretty much off-sync at the end of regular season and through playoffs' first 2 games. and they still had some good playoff run if you ask me... Wings are rolling slowly towards playoffs and keep their core players benched to give them some rest and also protect them from real injuries before playoffs start. active players don't push too much either, for the very same reason. it looks IMHO more like Wings tanking those games to spare forces for playoff run, than the team having real issues with mana. they will put the higher gear on once playoffs start. this is a good core of players with good work ethics. and there's no chemistry issues because of new ingredients. they are set, know each other and should be playing good once everybody's back in the lineup. whether it'll be sufficient to send the opponents golfing - we'll see. I like how the team looks right now, and the only question is how much Cup hunger do these players have.

love this one as a die hard South Park fan H-h-h-having s-s-said th-th-thaaat... I'd pi-pi-pick Ki-ki-kindl never been very convinced to Salei and Kindl has shown a lot of progress and a big promise for more. gimme Kindl! Timmeh! Timmeh!

I only saw a replay of the game at TSN, but the no-call on Homer's solo and "hook" on Zetterberg looked bad. this was a penalty shot, and the "hook" was so bloody weak, you'd think it was Bettman's beloved Penguins we were playing against... no idea what else happened in the game, just those two decisions look particulary bad

Bertuzzi Suspension Prediction/ No Suspension Per League
akustyk replied to stevkrause's topic in General
it doesn't look like a malicious play to me, more like a wrong call of Bertuzzi to raise his elbow at the very last moment. it seems to me that he went butt first and aimed more to the left of Johnson's body and not trying to crush him against the boards nor bash his head. bad and dumb play, absolutely, but not malicious try to injure Johnson. but the elbow raised and automatic major are unquestionable. it does not look like a suspension stuff to me, but with the NHL looking to make examples now I can see a 1 game sit off. should be none IMHO, but if it serves right as an example and Campbell&Co. really think this can have positive effect on my beloved game - let them do it, I can live with it. -

I like Kindl a lot. he's doing his job silently but efficiently. much better than Salei if you ask me.

Whats your favorite "BAD" contract right now?
akustyk replied to Rick Zombos Ghost's topic in General
I'm OK with Franzen being average in regular season as long as he's ripping it off in playoffs. mind you, Mule is a playoff asset, and so far he's only been stellar with this. and that he's not putting that same effort in regular season... I'm fine. better this than pulling Thorton, isn't it? -

the inevitable outcome of this affair is that people feel much more sympathy to the Isles and much less (if there were some left) to Bettman's pamperboys. and that Mario is whining... did anyone expect something better from him?
-
mind you... the same Mario who used to play with Kasparaitis and Ulfie (Samuelsson), and who used to pay the bills of Ruutu and employs Cooke... now Lombardi was fined 50k while Lemieux escapes with nothing, and people still wonder why so many fans say, that the league is biased towards Penguins... oh the irony..

Russian player name transcriptions to change, will NHL follow?
akustyk replied to edicius's topic in General
perhaps it's because the misspelling dates back to the time when the only country using non-Latin alphabet and with players in the NHL was Soviet Union. the transcription basically applies to all cases where some letters/sounds are nonexistent in target language. and it doesn't even has to include two different alphabets. see it's Räikkönen in Finnish or German, but it's spelled Raikkonen in English it's Małysz in Polish but Malysz in all other Latin-based alphabets -
Russian player name transcriptions to change, will NHL follow?
akustyk replied to edicius's topic in General
about time someone corrected this. rules of transcription between languages/alphabets dictate, that it's about getting closest possible sound match. and the transcription is not general and same for i.e. Russian to English and Russian to French etc. see: Chelyabinsk in English, Tcheliabinsk in French, Czelabińsk in Polish, Tsjeljabinsk in Dutch, Čeljabinsk in Italian Cheliábinsk in Spanish. all versions being correct in their respective language, all of those written with Latin alphabets and BTW: this is Latin alphabet, not English. English language didn't even exist when this alphabet was developed
