go Gillis! burn this whining cheater!

I don't think there's a clear advangtage to any of those guys to call them absolutely the best. they are all damn great and different. I'd rather enjoy the fact that I can watch all of them than waste my time arguing who is the best. and Crosby in my opinion definitely has the case for the best of the NHL title. for the same logic people here loved Stevie Y - it's not just the scoresheet but also his influence on the team spirit. Sindy was a beast in playoffs. of course Malkin helped his case but it doesn't take away from Sindy's leadership and production. truth being said I'm also on the "dump the Gary&Sindy love affair" bandwaggon because I'm thoroughly disgusted by the way the league is shoving Sindy into my throat and portraiting him as the ultimate messiah - head and shoulders above prophet David, Jesus, Mahomet and Tom Cruise it's a slap to the face of fans who started watching the NHL prior to Sindy era (basically everyone outside Pittsburgh I guess ) and to other quality players. there's also the topic of most entertaining player to watch. and Ovie wins this category hands down. and guys like Semin (did you see his sick goal yesterday?) or Kane, Datsyuk or Malkin are high in this ranking too. none is close to Ovie though. not at all. Ovechkin 's the biggest gift to the NHL in this decade and he himself sells the league to much further extent than Sindy does. now if only Bettman ever realized this fact...

I am biased but I like the fact that we had Yzerman not Gretzky. sure, he was more talented and scored much more points but I like the spirit and inspiration of Steve Y. because there's no "I" in team. and the Wings have been a team for a number of years already. not a bunch of high draft picks but a competitive and hard working team without ego's. and Stevie Y was surely big part of this

hats off to Joe! he's been a class act and a fantastic example.
-
not really spectacular. he had plenty of time to make some moves (and by plenty I really mean plenty) and waited patiently for goalie's reaction, then scored. not really fast or flashy. his hands were good, though

sad news. I wished this guy all the best and he sure looked poised to make the roster. not to mention he made the dome electric scoring those goals. hope he makes it with another team. he sure deserves another shot at the NHL
-
Fleury is quiate a different case than the Turtle. this guy's career has been cut short by his problems. and I'd love to see him having another shot. he's been a great player when he was OK with himself

couple of the best ever masks missed. like these: and speaking of cujo's masks: is clearly best of Joseph's masks for me. one mask that I can't find in google and was absolutely cute and classic is Thibault's Canadiens mask.

that's mega brutal! sure as hell they'll have some extra home games outside od this stretch but this 8+6 will really be a huge test for the team. I wouldn't be happy if I were Canucks GM...

good luck Marian! hope you win your Stanley Cup some day.

it's definitely in Czech and it states tha he did sign the agreement with Dynamo now talking about Slavic languages and spellings - I'd gladly ask people who don't know the subject to stop making confusion. Romanians and Slovaks do not use Cyrilic writing. among European countries Cyrlic is used in: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia and Moldova. not in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro or Slovenia, and sure as hell not in Hungary nor in Baltic states. I'm aware most people in North America have no * clue that some of those countries even exist and even if they see barely a distinction between them. but you sure bet they are different and if you're not sure what alphabet is used where - at least put some effort in opening wikipedia - everything is there if you need it. where did the "Czech is a mix of German and Cyrillic" came from I've no idea. this is Slavic nation using Slavic language which does contain foreing words but it's base is definitely Slavic. moreso that current Czech population consists mostly of peasant ancestors as Czech noblemen were almost all killed in the 100 year war when they took Jan Hus side during counterreformation. subsequently, the "higher" Czech language almost disappeared leaving a peasantal tongue, hence very close to Slavic roots. as for the Jiri name - it's George in English, Juraj in Slovak, Jurij (or Yuri as correct transcription dictates) in Russian, Jerzy in Polish (with "rz" sound similar to French "g" in "entourage") and there are very similar forms in other Slavic languages. the same name exists in other language groups, i.e. Jürgen or Jorg (German), Jorge (Spanish), etc.

what's so strange? ever seen: http://images.google.nl/images?q=dubai&...l=nl&tab=wi ???

from the TSN solid 2-way center who shots right. dead on with Wings needs...
-
they do in one respect: most outsiders have no f* clue what those people are talking about. except that it's fast, has abundance of similar sounds (especially Finnish) and is plain impossible to repeat properly. I just read in Polish wikipedia that the similarity between Finish and Hungarian is estimated to be similar to relation between Polish and German, which are two totally different languages. well... you get the picture... it's like Jackie Chan being similar to Shaq O'Neil...
-
Finish is in the family of its own. there are said to be some similarities with Estonian, Hungarian and Basque (I'm not sure, though) but if you ever heard any of them you'd never guess. Swedish is a Germanic language.

gotta love those boooos Burke is receiving...

try this: http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=9157

if you're Hedman fan you better be thanful for this. because in Tampa Hedman will at least stand a chance to win anything in future. and Islanders will surely find a way to f* it up yet again
-
Montreal showing their lack of respect to 29 other team fanbases. and Bettman doing great job after final booos.
-
this way we won't see his ugly face that often any more. that is a great news alone and the fact that he's now about as far as it gets from getting his hands on the cup makes it even sweeter. I'm very glad to see the "specific physics" removed from Western Conference.
-
I dunno. I'm male and hetero... though, I sure do like Czech chicks...
-
German girls? I happen to see them quite often and... let's put it this way: she was either damn good at this stuff, or the guy has completely bad taste and/or was very desperate to score... they really don't look like those "biergarten" photos which people paste on LGW... really... that's actually Polish or Czech girls living in Germany

Sidni Krosbi... I always liked how literal Russian transcription from Latin alphabet is and how funny it sounds when pronounced with deep Slavic accent. though, basically all languages have rules of transcription from foreign alphabets or languages which are based on sounds. Dutch has Oekraine or Poetin (that would be Ucraine/Putin if someone asks ) and English have Sikorsky (whereas the name is of Polish origin and is normally spelled "Sikorski" in latin alphabet)... now back to the topic... let him have it. he won it, right?
-
very strong class with guys who all deserve credits. but yeah... just as the others before me, I have the same pain in heart when Stevie's name is mentioned. he did retire at the right moment for him and for the Wings but it still pains to think Stevie Y doesn't play anymore...
