just checked info about Ericsson and I say: sure like hell keep him. if he's a chance to continue old Wings tradidtion of bringing late picks who rock the entire league...
-
I know what you're talking about but I still think NHL refs are way above soccer refs who cheat like crazy depending on who pays bigger bills. and in hockey you have video review
-
I like Lebda this season. he's got significantly better than last year. though, he has to show this development in playoffs. last playoffs he was miserable and I'd gladly see him wipe this bad impression. he's tools to do this in hands and legs - let's see if the brain is on pair now.
-
ummm... did you mean Hull's cup winning goal ? the league will NOT admit it's refs make mistakes as long as it's utterly blatant. and it's good because they can not dig the respect fans and players (should) have towards the refs. or some day nobody will even listen to refs which then makes zero sense to play the game any more
-
it's Canadian media. expect them to write about Oilers deserving playoff spot ahead of "those American teams". chances of Leafs making playoffs are lower than me screwing Scarlett Johanson. period
-
why on earth ppl justify defenseman's quality by showing his offensive numbers? that doesn't make much logic. D-men are a different breed than forwards, ya know excerpt from NHL com: it says the receiver needs to be the best in the position. and this means being the best defenseman. truth being said, barring some huge larceny by the league, Mr. Nick Norris will capture his another trophy. not because of goals he scores, but because he's the best guy at this position

*cough* the obvious candidate is *cough* Scotty "All Star" Niedermayer *cough*

seems like a fair deal to me. not that much as he could possibly get if he's about to keep this pace but also fine for Blues organization to reward his excellent year and keep him in own barn. I guess he'd have gotten more if he tried it next year and played another strong season. but it's also good to him to have long term contract with fine money on a team that will crack NHL elite soon
-
I know. but who cares. that was only to show how much I read into first impressions Bernier is an excellent pickup for the Sabres, no doubt. but I'm not going to be calling him the second coming of Jesus Christ just because he scored a goal in his first game with new team. this really doesn't mean anything
-
Calder also scored in his first Wings game. and the single-season guy before Calder too
-
knowing how Dave Lewis survived so much times under Holland... I really can't see Babcock being replaced other than when he's doing something really miserable. which isn't likely to happen IMHO
-
clearing vap space & making room for Jaroslav Halak who's an excellent prospect and could as well be the No 1 goalie soon (if not with Habs then with another team for a hefty price)
-
I think he may find some of his old self with Caps. this is a young team with good Russians, I can see Fedorov becoming a quality player there. might as well not happen but I can imagine this being the right place and right time for Sergei I'd say, if you took media hype which let you believe there's only Phaneuf on Flames D, there were two guys - Stuart and Giordano who did their job fine if not spectacular. and of those guys Stuart and Giordano were less prone to costly lapses than Phaneuf who was playing much below the hype surrounding him. I mean - sure, I enjoy tough hits etc. but if there's just about the single thing you do correctly... it's not a solid defense in my book Stuart is a solid pickup for Wings. not a huge name but fits our lineup and came really cheap. I'll take it

I love all those inequalities my **** > your **** geez... ppl do you realize it's completely different animal when it comes to playoffs and if you want to measure D-men you have to pair them with forwards?? this guys don't play on paper but on the ice and what D-men are for is to stop opposing scorers from getting close to the goal enjoy those maths but please, don't put too much into this
-
to large extent I'd agree with you. but seeing how some fine players flew for just 3rd/4th round picks I would like Holland to fish some depth forward (just to have more experience in case of injuries) who in worst case could end up in Griffs. that's a fair deal. I understand not everything was possible and Holland is very cautious about Wings future but this small pickup keeps me from giving him A. A= or B+ in my book.
-
I guess Hossa is a rental. and they'll sure like hell dump a good part of their developed youngsters to accomodate Sid and Malkin plus some quality goalie under the salary cap. after a second though this Hossa trade seems pretty logic. this is about the last moment this young, developed Pens team can go out and go for it. next year they're likely to be missing good part of their young core
-
not gonna shed any tear after Bertuzzi and Calder. and Lang is lazy and he sucks is beyond any discussion here and if I recall correctly Holland didn't have much choice with Schneider here. Rafalski is an excellent pickup from Holland Stuart - we'll see. Drake - isn't a keeper, definitely McCarty - just give him a break. he's signed for low money and supposed to go to AHL with the option to be called by the Wings. in the end I'd not rate Holland low because of this. I'd however gladly know why it's only Stuart and not some quality second line scorer. seeig how cheap other GMs were bringing players I could definitely imagine a nice and cheap forward getting a roster spot with Wings
-
Pittsburgh got robbed for Hossa and it's "do or die" for them now. and it really is a risky thing for them. they look legit this year but a lot depends on their goaltending which doesn't look convincing for the good playoff run. Richards didn't exactly come cheap, either. for Wings it'd require giving up ie. Howard and Flip, and I most certainly don't like them to be gone for Richards. though, I'd still like Holland to get some solid forward. I assume he passed being unable to find a good option for Wings movable assets.
-
Stuart is lazy and he sucks ummm... or maybe we should wait and see how he fits with the rest of the team, huh?
-
how Pittsburgh is a winner here if they traded a huge chunk of their youth and didn't yet win anything important? it's beyond me. honestly they may as well collapse just as Thrashers did last year same goes to Dallas. yes, they got Richards but they traded young Jokinen and Mike Smith who are both far from irrelevant and may as well become great players in the future. Stars look better here but I'm still far from calling them clear winners. Wings, Caps, Ducks and Sabres are winners IMHO. none of them sacrificed much (Sabres just sold what they had to sell anyway) and got solid players in return. I mean: former 1st round pick who developed into a steady top-4 defenseman for just 2nd round pick (and 4th)? that's really OK with me

excellent move. kudos to Kenny once again!
-
Jesus is overrated. he hasn't done anything really great past his rookie season. and it's been a good couple of years since then he's been pretty invisible recently

ummm... Devils? touche

let's try with Mariusz Czerkawski and I'm sure like he'll there's no more than 10 ppl at this board able to pronounce it correctly
