    Has Hell Frozen Over?

this means trouble. Mullet is deadly killer when it comes to passing bad karma on Wings and when he praises Wings this means some s***'s gonna happen. just to remind you: every single time Mullet picked Wings to win the cup we sucked balls big time and get booted in 1st or 2nd round. I most certainly don't want to hear him praising Wings. let him kiss Dives a* and leave my team alone

    good job, Hasek!

yes and no. there's no point in arguing Hasek is playing well below fine level, and most certainly not up to his potential. people arguing this are flattening the earth and rotating the sun around it. period. yet, what makes him one of the best is what he does in playoffs. he's no 30 already and he's not supposed to play 60 games a season and then show wonders in playoffs. won't work. even Mike Babcock said he's not expecting his aging guys to play their best hockey now. they'll be spared as much as possible for later use (read: May and hopefully June). and I have little doubt Hasek will be great come playoffs. whether he steals the job from Oz is a good question, though. Oz looks like poised to win something this year. for now I'll stick with the opinion that Hasek plays mediocre. ohh... here we go with Zetterberg

yes and no. Ovechkin was pretty quick with it and I'd not blame Hasek for not stoping this truth being said, Hasek is far from stellar in his outings this year. very far. Oz beats him every single night

and as usual, TSN is starting the "let's praise the Wings-beating team" tune. jesus, they're at times so blatantly biased against the Wings that it's pity to hear. "hard work, forechecking, ..." yeah, Brian... how about flukey goals, huh?

Chris Simon Faces More Punishment From NHL

yes and no. yes, because with this being Crosby all Canadian media would be making a hell of an issue out of it. and with this being Ruutuu, who for many hockey fans is a pest who deserves a good beating on a night basis - that's much different story. no, because obviously the punishment is for the crime not for the object. but honestly, it's never gonna work like that.

    Just Imagine If....

    true, Brother John signed, Paul
  12. whole TSN staff is keeping their noses right in Burke's ass and if not for the fact they need to showcase Canadian teams first, they'd be doing some Big Brother to show ppl how Brian is the second coming of Jesus Christ (or was it Jesus who opened the path for Brian, albeit missing Burke's genius. or so) truth being said, McKenzie's points are valid. the main question here is, however, who put Burke in this hole to trade young promising forward for old-fart Weight? wasn't it the same Brian who paid fat salaries to Bertuzzi and the very McDonald? that however is not what McKenzie and TSN is able to see. or mention

Chris Simon Faces More Punishment From NHL

are we talking about the very same Rutuu who'd be the last person (OK, except for this little ***** Tootoo) you would accuse of playing clean and not being an ass himself, and finally - of not being a whiner? Simon deserves a suspension. for stupidity. period. how much he did to Rutuu is another question. I might be blinded because Rutuu is one of those very few players who I don't stand in this league, but... I'd rather first estimate how much harm exactly Simon did to Rutuu. it's not some god damned broken neck or what to ask for season-long suspension, right? although, Simons rep may as well land him this kind of punishment. nobody's gonna cry after him however

    12/15 GDT: Red Wings 5, Panthers 2

geez, refs are cooking those Panthers here
  16. honestly? no, he most likely had no other way to make room for Niedermayer. in all honesty, every single GM in this league, even ppl in Caps or Hawks were aware Burke will be trying to make a trade for one of his forwards. and every single GM was perfectly aware this is the ultimate opportunity to milk Burke all the way down. Burke was not yet in a hurry to get as low as to putting McDonald (or other player) on waivers but that was still a situation where he had to take what he got. no way in hell he'd get any draft picks in this situation - that'd take some "brillant" idea from Bobby Clarke (but this guy is no longer GM).
  17. this trade alone is also a win for Burke. let's restate this for a moment: it's McDonald for Weight and Niedermayer. because otherwise he'd not be able to accomodate Scotty on the roster. the other thing here is that it was the very same Burke who locked McDonald for fat 3M$/yr after a bubble year of stats inflated by Teemu. and the same moron who pays Bertuzzi fat salary. nice to see TSN-beloved Brian having to eat some s*t
  18. and you consider this a disadvantage? I'd rather see Wings playing those 8 games against quality team than sleepwalking over another Oilers who aren't even able to win in regulation against Wings that put nearly zero effort into the game a good division matchup for playoff bound team is always an opportunity to match against rival and play some serious hockey. for coaches it's the ultimate chance to develop their teams for playoffs. yeah. no kidding. and I'd love to see McKenzie with his brown nose trying to convince everyone Burke made a smart move and is second coming of Albert Einstein or sort of... geez... TSN must really be wiping tears at the doom of their beloved Brian not convinced about these Ducks yet, but they might as well make some playoff push soon as for the Blues. they'll make the playoffs but not get past round 1. as usual.

12/13 GDT: Oilers 4, Red Wings 3 (SO)

1 point in the book. speaking of the score... over the years (first with Dave Lewis now with Babcock) I grew quite tired with Wings putting zero effort into games with those bottom-dwelling teams (used to be Blackhawks and BJ's but it's Oilers now). and I'm most certainly tired with Hasek being unable to keep the door shut when he has 5-6 saves per period to make.

Mike Richards inks 10-12 year contract

Nick for 10 years? I'm not sure if he'll be in this league in 6-7 years actually. having said that... noe let Kenny Holland lock Chelli for 15 years and show those posh-couch GM's who's the man

Mike Richards inks 10-12 year contract

either Holmgren is expecting a huge raise of salary cap in following years or he went insane. I'd rather put my money on the later. most certainly with the Dollar dumping which this idiot George in White House is doing now to cover for sick US economy
  23. akustyk

    Schneider

I'd rather go for some forward with frame, raw skill and experience. yeah, I know those don't grow on trees but some additional experience and skill would add depth to our scoring which is missing now. a guy like Slava Kozlov, I mean. not ripping our pockets but adding a good touch

    Euro-Problems

that would be a veeery bold statement. do you by chance realize that there are most likely more people playing hockey in just the single town of Vantaa than in whole US south of Pittsburgh? and what actually justifies a thesis that this sports is only about North America? a knowledgable hockey fan should be IMHO aware the world doesn't end at the Atlantic Ocean. as for the main question - I think this could be the factor but barring some very anti-Euro sentiments in Detroit I really don't see it being an issue. people come to games to see the team and to watch hockey in general. state Michigan loved Fedorov as much as Yzerman or Hasek or Vladdy. not for their mothertongue are you trying to say that you guys north of the border finally managed to chop trees and use them to build some nice huts?
