it's Leafs so don't draw too much conclusions. as for Sammy - he's absolutely brutal at the point. I like him but there should be some alarm device to buzz aloud when his brain hits the though of shooting from the blue line. jesus, my 70+ old granny has better accuracy
-
best of luck to him! keep my fingers crossed for Blake!

great job! 30D + 70-200/2.8 ?

I liked Cajanek a lot when he played in Czech League. and unlike many great but aged Czech players who came too late to the NHL and didn't adapt (see: Dopita), Cajanek's been very good at the NHL rink for $1M he's definitely worth consideration for any team West of Atlantic. though, there's not much room for LW/C in Wings roster, even more with the team trying to give some room for youngsters I'd mind if Kenny shopped for him, not if he didn't

is "Yellow Horn" some Indian name?

hey... don't be jealous about Flyers coverage. in the end, and I mean: come June, we'll see much more Wings games than Flyers games. oh... at least as long as Comcast doesn't start broadcasting amateur golfing BTW: the team distribution is pretty much fine with focus on big market teams. didn't know Dives are still big market but... the Flyers argument above applies here too, so I'm not worried

don't like this. with logos not being scaled down it looks really like filling whole front surface. very non-stylish and pretty much incorrect in terms of visual identification rules. on the side note: having seen hockey played with "large" jerseys for long time I think I'll have a tough time to adjust seing players slim like some fashion models it's just improper for me to see males wearing such tight tops. :puke:

congrats Mike and have nice post-career!

and of all broadcasters I saw Versus was least anti-Wing. sure, they're no saints, but compared to HNIC or usual old Mullet's grudge, VS was incredibly fair. ESPN is better than nothing but it's not exactly the pinnacle of hockey broadcast

geez I love this double standards... before Holland signed Bertuzzi majority of this board was calling him a washed up thug. then ppl instantly changed the tune to praise him as powerforward with a lot to prove. now that he's gone we're coming back to the "Bertuzzi is garbage" song. the truth is, he's not been effective for many years. and when Holland signed him there was a risk he's not even gonna play in playoffs. not to even mention contribute anything. he did appear on the ice and, for his physical condition, played some fine hockey, adding at least some bit of that missing physical component in Wings lineup. he wasn't the hero for the Wings but his play is far from deserving horrible notes but I guess it's normal to bash him now that he's gone from Wings... you ppl never stop to amaze me... truth being said: $4M is a lot of money for him and is much more than his real value is. but neither is Penner worth $4M now. maybe in 2-3 years he will be at this level, but I'll have to see it first. as for Bertuzzi... with some time to heal all wounds he may become this $4M player again. he has the potential and even not 100% old himself, he can be a major factor to teams success...

Smyth is a leader, has better rep* and speaks English in more understandable fashion * = I mean: with Homer you could see asses like Pronger whine how Tomas is about crashing the net and being only about hurting goalie. but even this b* Pronger would not dare to say this about Captain Canada.

dare to disagree. he started with a team that already was bold on young talent. I mean: let's keep similar standards. we're bitching pre-cap Holland for not being the GM who built winning franchise. why should we give credit to Burke whose accomplishments are not even on-par with Holland in this regard. Burke is being hit in the ass by his own pro-activity. he's much better GM than Lowe and I'd actually give my nod to him rather than Lowe who's being an ******* in this case. still... you can't have the cake and eat it, Brian. and stop whining about this. as for ppl talking of overpaying for Penner... short reality check: Penner has potential to be quality 1/2-liner and is a young kind with good package and good ethics. if you call it $4.3M a year you lose the big picture. it's roughly $22M for 5 years. and you sure bet in those 5 years Penner will be worth those $4M and who knows if not more. he's ripped 45 points in his first year on a roster full of talent. he may ass well make 70+ points every single year as an Oiler. even so, with Edmonton being so depleted on good names right now. Lowe must pay him more than his market value is to get him to Edmonton, but still... $22M/5yr is not necessarily a big overpayment and I really don't see a reason for complaining that the asking prices go up. sure, they are. but let me ask you one question, Brian: who is paying those prices? players themselves or GM's? I'd say it's GM's who operate under salary cap limitations and can not spend money like crazy anymore. and this is the factor which will eventually elevate salaries and bring them to some standard realms. it's free market, dude!

except Wings have some space under the cap and if they are in a good shape for playoff run, Holland will never ever hestitate to pull a trigger for a trade that sees Wings getting quality goal scorer and optionally physcal ingredient (yep, even Kenny sees this objective) without letting prospects/picks go. neither he has to with Ilitches money, nor has a habit to spare money in such cases. Bertuzzi was a great pickup for us. he came very cheap (compared to other trade deadline acquisitions) and played pretty good for what we gave him. if we get a rental like Bertuzzi next season I'll wholeheartedly cheer Holland. if Fedorov comes cheap I have nothing against him. though, he's neither coming for a low price tag (never happens) nor to Detroit - a tema he basically f*d in 2003 because of his ego

are you talking about the Rob ol' dirtbag Blake who has a rep of crossing the edge over and over again? classy Dives? Joey Sakic then Deadmarsh, Aebisher, Stastny. they actually changed a bit after sacking douchebag Crawford and are now much improved in this regard, I'd say.
-
neither for me. Feds is not his old self and Floppa on the Wings just makes me wanna puke. nexy please

way to go, Hossa! chapeaux bas(sp)

so if Burke signs Penner and Niedermayer decides not to retire could Wings sing Niedermayer? I mean, sure it was absolutely terrible to watch Flips skating around him like Niedermayer was an AHL player, but Scott can still pick up and play decent, doesn't he?
-
Jesus.... $4M a year for Penner. he's $2.5M guy, and $3M at best, but $4M... should have also signed Yashin, Kevin! overpriced as well but you seem to be keen to keep spending like you were Rangers GM

Remember Jamie Mclennen Calgarys stick swingin backup
akustyk replied to sticknmove's topic in General
McLennan is a*hole to do what he's asked to do. but the finger needs to be pointed to Playdirty, who's ultimately responsible for this s***. Noodles had not done that crap just by himself, get real! good riddance, though. -
slow down a little bit! if I see correctly most posters talk about Yashin's greedy behavior and huge expectation without a lot to back up. to state it this way: your mother most certainly taugh you to work hard and put some effort if you are paid with good money. didn't she? now Mrs Yashin most certainly didn't. and that's the thing about the money we're talking about here, I'd say
-
good riddance! don't let the door hit you in the back! and BTW: as much as I can't stand Cherry and his bold statements and biased opinions, his "Euros need to go" is fit on in this case. Yashin's been epithome of why it is not worth to pamper Russian primadonnas with overbown egos.

Nashville decision will say a lot about Bettman's legacy
akustyk replied to Salviaman's topic in General
no. but I think guys like TImonen, Hartnell, etc. would be replaced with proven NHL players not some minor-pickups. they haven't been. so, yes, technically the team got free of guys who'd demand big bucks. that's what the market dictated. unfortunately, guys like Timonen and Hartnell don't grow on trees and the void left will most likely be visible when the Preds hit the ice in October. now speaking of Mason and Vokoun - yes, indeed, Preds cut some $7M of bigmouth salary which is a big chunk of money. albeit, they did it only to give Mason $3M a year. Mason who is very likely to be a legit starter (a Legace-like no.1 goalie, but a bit better IMHO) but has yet to be proven if he's capable of playing real hockey when it counts. playoffs that is. call it firesale or not, this team is by far not resembling the package it had last season. they may as well not stay competitive and fall short of a playoff spot with such watered talent. I hope not, because they were good to measure Wings but the reality doesn't leave much hope -

nobody is laughing. just asking. why, if this all is that simple, could the Predators not do what you say the season before? and why is it expected to achieve the goal now after the poor firesale and an uncertainty looming over the franchise. nobody's contradicting the facts. it's just the question if what you call simple is indeed that simple -
I'd be into the Divealanche comeback group. that Game 7 with the score 7-0 was something. back then there was no video streaming over internet to allow PPL deep in Europe like me to watch the games live, so I had to listen to the 1270 radio (no reasons to complain, though). now imagine a guy in a Wings jersey listening to the broadcast at some 3 AM locat time, trying not to scream his ass out (and wake up the entire family) after hearing those four 1st period goals... go figure then Patty Wah chased out of the net and Ken Daniels talking of him possibly being chased out of town, by the very Wings again marvelous moment
