    If you we're Ken Holland...

in all honestly - I'd like Holland to pick players like Calder. with a lot of potential that's being wasted on a crappy team, and who have something to prove. Mayers comes to my mind. ni chu*! no f* way that is, fellow countryman

    If you we're Ken Holland...

say no to a "Detroit Red Wings Retirement House" if Mac comes very cheap we could consider him, but that's all subject of evaluation. if he still has some gas in the tank his old team would be a good place to give him a shot. but I honestly don't see him cracking regular NHL lineup any more

    If you we're Ken Holland...

resign Bertuzzi for something like 2M with bonuses. he's worth this money resign Chelli, Markov and Schneider. let Dom go and shop for some strong young goalie. Aebisher, Nittymaki(sp), maybe bid for Al Montoya from Rangers? go for fine young forwards. not bold names, but ones that have skills and are good team players. add some real enforcer to this team. just to have someone to dress in case we were up to play goon squads

    Injury Tally Over/Under?

dito to zombo. I'd say Homer wasn't the same after that Pronger crap, and we clearly missed his presence from then on. truth being said, a part of our losses were the lack of gas in the tank, caused by huge fatigue of playing with 2 defensemen less. although, it was our forwards and their inability to score on powerplays that ultimately blew it all. be it Carlyle solved our scoring lines well and those Ducks played sting defense + great positioning of Giguere (which is a fact), but in the end we missed this creativity and hustle we saw in the last outburst. and I'm deeply convinced, we should have had come flying out of the gates in that Game 4 and give all hustle to win it. that would be much different story

    Congrats to the Ducks

I'm full of praise to Carlyle, too. he seems to be a quiet guy making good moves. and is pretty classy in his post game comments, giving credit to the other team and refusing to do piss-poor badmouthing like some other coaches. I think he made some good moves to contain Wings lines and it paid off. though, I have to admit, Ducks were in better physical shape as the series unfolded and were able to use their youth/skill edge to their advantage. and they brough their A game to seal the deal. truth being said, we could've won this series if there were more desperation out of the gates in Game 4. maybe it's lack of stamina after playing so much bumpy hockey for those 15 games, maybe it's not as good mental preparation, but we blew that game and it ultimately bit us in the ass. anyway. my expectation prior to playoffs were that Wings advance past Round 1 and have a strong showing in Round 2. they upped the berth with one series. my heart says we could've been better but the reason is also here to say, those Ducks are one hell of a team and it's no shame to lose the series, even more after 2 pretty physical rounds and missing two crucial defensemen. not too shabby. the effort, willingness, heart and desire to win were there for the Wings. they ultimately failed to advance further, but there's no reason to not be optimistic about our future and proud about this years accomplishments(sp). looking forward to the next season. a quick look at http://www.nhlnumbers.com/det.html makes me very optimistic about next year. we're in a good position to get back to the winning ways next year.

    Congrats to the Ducks

yep. congrats for a tough victory. they were, overall, the better team, although I think my Wings were more hungry and played with more heart. to bad they couldn't advance see you next season. am not gonna root for the Ducks in SCF, but they nevertheless won a lot of respect this year

    Best Players for the Ducks

is this thread a question (as one would guess from its title) or a cover-up for ppl writing praises of Ducks with zero tolerance to different opinions? I wrote my opinion about Pronger. you disagree. I'm OK with that. then stop f* gooning me about that and convincing you have the only right. thank you

    Best Players for the Ducks

not gonna argue on that. I usually watch this games with thoughs like: "kill these bastards in white/black/golden" not looking to admit their skills, etc. that would be based on loose observations not a deep study I tend to disagree with Wings going for Pronger. one of Hollands keys to bulding a team is digging for team players and getting rid of those who develop bad chemistry or simply don't play team game. and pissing off about some calls or oposing team plays, and then taking dumb penalties is not playing team game. not to take anything from Pronger because he still posesses a good set of skills, but he has potential to be a cancer in the locker room and most important: on the ice.

    How about this?

this doesn't justify coming to LGW and trying to spread that s*** here. except for rare incidents this board used to be pretty clear from flamewars and fans exchanging smack. sure, it's biased and I'm sure at times it gets tough for fans of other teams, but most posters here respect other point of view and don't just trash and ignite flame wars against ppl who tend to root for different team. on the contrary - I've seen many reasonable discussions with Flames, Oilers, Nashville and Sharks fans. it's just: you come here willing and being able to discuss hockey - you're accepted. many may disagree with your opinions, but very few will goon it up, and even then, there are Wings fans who discourage from stupid lashing at the fans of other teams. I wish it stayed like this. and don't want to use Ignore feature often

    How about this?

how does it sound: a fan of the other team comes to LGW board and either bashes Wings players or fans. not that he/she was able to discuss hockey, but stirring the pot and talking smack seems pretty fine with him/her. are you sure you're the one to be teaching others what to say and what to not say? why not going to allducks.com? I'm sure you'll find plenty of ppl who bash Wings and sing praises about Giguere. isn't it simplier this way, than to come here and tell Wings fans what to think etc. ?

    Best Players for the Ducks

best Duck: 1. Getzlaf. I wish he plays in Winged Wheel some day then: 2. Scott Niedermayer. had some bad bounces, but overall is playing very solid and mean at times. 3. Beauchemin. he has some unlucky bounces, but in the end he's the one who contains Homer and this is one of those main reasons why Wings can't just win those god damned games. 4. Moen. really efficient and hard working guy 5. Giguere. his abilities has been blown out of proportion, and he's by far not that good as many people think (for the reasons already stated in this topic). but together with his D-men he's able to make other team shot head to head, and then his positioning is (mostly) perfect. and for this he deserves some credit 6. Pahlson. very fine when matched against Drapes. meaybe not that good ofensively, but still a guy to watch out 7. Selanne. yes, I know he couldn't score first 3 games. but he was always there providing pressure on Wings net and doing some creative play. 8. DiPenta. pretty solid for a 5th defenseman (correct me if I'm wrong, though) 9. Huskins. logging some minutes and not screwing it up. not too shabby for the 6th defenseman. and now from the very bottom: 1. Rob Niedermayer. absolutely sucks ass. takes dumb penalties, screws up plays, takes unnecessary runs on Wings players, etc. sure, he had luck to score a goal, but this doesn't change a lot. most atrocious Ducks players by a margin. 2. Pronger. dumbass knows perfectly well when to pick stupid penalty and leave his team shorthanded. and he whines about Canadian media and blames them for suspension. here's a message to you *******: stop running people's heads and nobody will ever mention suspension. quite simple, even for your tiny brain, isn't it? 3. Perry. except for Game 1 the guy is invisible. frankly, for a 1st round draft pick you expect more 4. McDonald. not exactly a force in this playoffs. and even playing with Selanne doesn't look as he was doing something useful 5. Marchant. 2.5M$ salary for a no-show? puhlease... this would be the allducks.com level. at LGW we usually use our brains to discuss hockey and not type something during commercials between subsequent Disney cartoons in TV. now clean your teeth, say your prayers and go back to watching your fairy tales, kid!

WCF Game 5 (5/20): Ducks @ Red Wings, 3pm ET

anyone dare to repeat: suspension to Pronger makes Ducks weaker?

WCF Game 5 (5/20): Ducks @ Red Wings, 3pm ET

I'd not go that far, but it looks like we're gonna have a chance to see it in reality. Giguere is slow on re-aligning and he's been strongly relying on his D-men to not let opposing players do zig-zag plays. now with Bryzgalov giving Ducks fine goaltending Burke may decide to dump Giguere's fat 4M$. and once JS starts with a new team, and obviously new defensemen, he's very likely to suck balls.

WCF Game 5 (5/20): Ducks @ Red Wings, 3pm ET

that's it. he covers too much of the net to score on him head to head. but he's a slow ass at changing direction and if you flip the puck to the other side and there's some player to put the stick, Giguere is done

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

bad luck with the powerplay and some karma backlashing. though, my impression is Ducks have little gas left in the tank. they seem to be stopping skating at times. hope this works in our favor finally

wooohooo... another time Niedermayer sucks balls. man, this guy is horrible

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

ad 1: Giguere is so huge and so fine at positioning, that we stand no chance to score on him on the actions like the one Sammy started. though, he flips slow and if we make quick passes like on first goal in Game 3 or Game 4, we'll bury him easily. and the thing is, he hasn't been sharp this game, at all. is good at positioning, but once this gets tight around him, he'll melt ad 2: my guess is we worked hard to wear their defense down a bit in 1st period. this has already been visible in 2nd period but I guess it'll catch up strong in 3rd and we'll capitalize on it. though, we need focus on defense and not let them score a single goal to catch some momentum

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

we ,CBC people, have Brian Burke. and game commentary which is all about having the nose brown from sticking it into Ducks assess. though, I have to agree with Burke on one thing here. Getzlaf will be a superstar in a couple of seasons (and not many IMHO). this kid is already doing great, keeping pressuring us and not taking dumb penalties like certain Perry (another 1st round pick, but definitely not so talented and not so smart, at all)
  24. akustyk

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

what for? he's just like Pronger - playing horrible when on the ice and costing his team dumb penalties when the game gets off their hands. I'll definitely take Perry on the ice rather than guys like Getzlaf or Salami. he always gives Wings a chance to go on PP.

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

Perry is brainless. just when the team needs focus and composure he takes a dumb, needless penalty. stupid, plain stupid
