you know what... back then during regular season (could be November, maybe December) Babcock used to split kids a lot and play on separate lines. ppl on this board used to ***** him like crazy, that kids need to play together because they're best this way. some posters did reply, though, that Wings need to seek efficient combinations to have options for playoffs. to have some chemistry developed for the case Dats and Zet need to be splitted. I remeber myself talking about this, although my assumption was this was more for security (I mean like: one of them goes down with injury or hits some bottom) rather than coaching option to complicate the other team's life. I think what McKenzie (or you, Dabura?) misses widely in this thing is one trivial observation. it's not the Wings who woke up now. it's him and other people who watch Wings from outside and measure them with past performances. now and here this team is in WCF, with a good shot on winning it. and it's not by accident. they have the tools to make the job done, and they've shown unbeliavable willingness to reach the ultimate goal. they haven't been spectacular but it's been in this team for some months. it didn't appear now.

I think he has a point, but I have to disagree on one thing. the monster did not wake up now. it was there during Flames and Sharks series, and I'd say even Games 1 & 2 it was here. McKenzies pro-Ducks eyes simply didn't see it. the only thing is that this monster did not roar before without reason and it pretended to be a calm sheep to not grab to much attention. now the time has come to do it. don't wanna sound like homer, but from Game 1 against Flames I could see the Wings team with flashy play and with extremely smart teamwork. it's just we didn't win those games before in spectacular fashion and those media guys convinced we are underdog refused to see how this Wings are coached and how they work hard for their common goal. this team looked capable from the very begining of this playoffs. still... there's plenty of hockey to play to advance to SCF, and if this happens, there's still a great team to beat in the very final. Wings are capable of winning it, but many things can happen. so let's just keep pulling for our team and let Wings play focused.

really surprised here that the league had balls. if that was a guy like May he'd end up with 3-4 games, but since it's NHL poster boy this is gonna be just 1 game. still, nice to see Campbell doing anything and not letting this crap unpunished

I don't know to what extent you refer to Mexican and to what "European" Spanish but it's vaqueros actually though, Mexican supposedly use jeans, too (http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=93205). I agree with your point about not localizing other names, but this is, for many languages, rather new traditions. centuries ago it was rather common to do it. and in Spanish, in particular, this tradition seems to be stronger than in other cases. from the languages I know only Russian beats Spanish on this, but they also have the need to translate to Cyrilic writing and they do it often very literally

I'm not Slovak, but as a Polish am still aware how to read most Slavic names as for Zidlicky... there's no sound that resembles "Z", which is actually "ž" (hope this diacric sign shows up) and sounds more like "zzsch" if you pronounce the z here as in "buzz" and the entire vowel goes harder than you normally speak in English. many Slavic languages acutally have lots of such "buzzing" consonants which are basically unpronouncable to English/American but also French/Spanish etc. and it's get weird to explain the sound using English writing

won't agree on this one cause I wasn't able to watch the game nor a replay. though, considering Ducks attitude I wouldn't be surprised if they called for Maltby's head (while obviously calling Pronger cheap-shot a "tough play"). you know... if you want to pummel someone you will always find a bat to do this see above. I'll have to see a replay to judge, but knowing Maltby and the way things go, I'd not argue he did everything to avoid a mess. that would be enough to call him a dirty motherf* or whatever you want, if you are anti-Wing basher.

I actually regard TSN staff as people who know what they're talking about and are not the ones to simply jump the bandwaggons. that's not to say they're not prone to "evolutions of attitude" (so to say) but they are still arther firm at their opinions. I mean - sure, I can be harsh on McKenzie for being anti-Wing in this series, but he's been the guy who is pro-toughness for long time and he does the same now. and I'm almost certain even if the Ducks go trailing this series 1-3 McKenzie will root for them and praise tough play (and I don't mean Pronger like s***, but what's usually understood as tough game) my gripe is he is just too single-sided and refuse to see some good in Wings. other than making Hasek a second coming of Jesus Christ it's not like Mullet who used to start bashing Wings like crazy and subsequently changed his tune as the Wings advanced further in the playoffs (I mean the pre-cap era when we used to be clear favourites to the cup). not gonna discuss Mullet, because in my book he's just a tad over ppl like Woody Paige or Kara Yorio - I mean utter morons who blatantly root for one team (or against another). Mullet is more knowledgeable than Paige or Yorio, but he's still too blatantly biased TSN used to be different in that respect

like Maltby high-sticking Getzlaf, who's arguably their best forward right now? (and frankly, I'd love him in Winged Wheel some day) sure it happened in the closing moments of the game, but with Wings being short on physical presence and pure fighters, that's about the only moment we could reasonably do something like that. if we tried retaliation in 2nd period Carlyle wouldn't even need to order his team to beat the crap out of us. their game was already lost and they could've easily started throwing bodies on every single Wings player. and it's not a situation that favors us I see your point, but I think Wings made a smart decision considering the circumstances

yeah, I think your point is pretty valid. I might be a little biased against him after listening to him in Game 1 when he did everything possible to praise the Ducks and to not see positives in Wings. I understand his right to have own opinion, but with him being a TV guy I'd like to see a bit more fairness in all these opinions. I kinda like McKenzie for being a guy leaning towards toughness, but it needs to have some equilibrum. McKenzie is too clearly pro-Ducks for me. simply so

I honestly doubt Sabres ability to rebound. they looked like having no gas in the tank left in Game 3 and like having the confidence shaken. Sens on the other hand... though, I'd like Sabres to steal at least this single game.

I don't think he invented the wheel on this article. it basically says what is a common knowledge. the only good part is that Dregger seems to be the only person in TSN studio staff who has balls to not root for the Ducks (he seems slightly Wings biased even) and even express his pro-Wings feelings. that's a nice contrast to McKenzie who is justifying every single crap that comes from the Ducks and is the last person to have a positive word about the Wings (except for praising Hasek to pretend it's all Dom responsible for Ducks failure). I mean... McKenzie is not a dumb guy and he used to have some good observations and weighted opinions which I used to like. not so in this series. he's become such a brown-nosed Ducks fan

reallistically, I'm not 100% sure no suspension to Pronger will hurt us. they could use the fact of being shorthanded to fuel their karma (just as we did when loosing Schneids) and come out big in Game 4. now if Pronger stays and we keep pressuring him and do s*** around this clown, who's most certainly gonna be closely observed by the refs. in such case I can easilly see him loosing his cool and dragging his team down to lose Game 4. and seriously digging Ducks confidence which may already be in trouble. whatever the league does, I just hope Wings do their job and play their game. we are perfectly able to win this series with the jump and willingness this team has shown

of course it's all "would" / "if" / "should". still... I'd like the league to not blatantly refuse to do justice and impede our chances to win something. Pronger deserves a suspension here, and except for some Ducks fans and Bob McKenzie (who has his nose brown from sticking it into Brian Burke's ass) most hockey followers see this matter clear. and yeah... I'm thinking ahead of this game or another because our chances are really looking good and I'd like Wings to possibly reach SCF in good shape. last but not least - I sure have doubts about Campbell and whether he reacts to the situation properly. this league has a history of turtling on such matters and knowing how Brian Burke is influential and how Buttman loves to see Californian market team to suceed... I realistically don't expect a fair punishment here.

I honestly give no f* about Norris Trophy when the Stanley Cup is virtually in sight. sure, nothing takes back the time and erases the shunt Homer had to acquire. but if the league sends a message this is not gonna be tolerated I'd be sleeping better knowing Wings would be in better physical shape if they advance to SCF, and hence having better chance to reach the ultimate goal. with Campbell turtling and pretending this was nothing serious, there's clear message you can hit the Wings and do every crap you want and the league wont do a s*** about it. and I have no doubt that Dirty Ducks will use this permission in abundance from Game 4 on. which not only makes it more difficult for us to reach SCF, but also leaves flat-tired to match Sens (or whomever) should we both advance to the finals. and with the speed and energy of both Eastern candidates I see no way worn-out Wings could win it. honestly, zero chance

the series is 2-1 now, dude. and we need 2 more wins to talk about SCF. for now I'll keep worrying about Ducks series. it's still far from over

don't want to spoil the party, but with all of these guys on payroll our forward corps would most likely resemble those of Calgary's 3-4th line + Ducks 3-4 line. s***ty that is. I get you point, but there's those payroll limitation and you can't just put all the cash in D-men

this doesn't have to come high. if he's too tall to crash his head, go for his knees. but that would require Wings to be ******* at the puny level of Dirty Ducks. and I'm actually proud of the fact that my team does not have to do s*** like that to win the games. we'll leave such crap to s***ty teams from Calgary and from Disneyland, giving them a well deserved chance to have some early practice with putter to the original poster: hitting and crashing is not our advantage in Dirty Ducks series. if we started in in 2nd period them, having nothing to lose, would run Dom and our star players to the bitter end (I mean: further concussions). instead we kept playing our game and won it clearly, got the mental advantage of Hasek showing them how mediocre they are. and finally: we delivered a s***ty shot in the end (Maltby's one) which showed them, we're not gonna forget what they've done. the thing is: retaliations fuel karma and can lead to scary bounces. instead of giving them reasons to bounce back, we continued killing them with strong play and shutout goaltending. and I'm most certain in their dressing room Dirty Ducks looked on themselves like on crappy losers. if this drags to Game 4 we're in good position to win it and take home the chance to finish this series.
