I'm not sold on the last sentence but I too think this was worse than Bertuzzi in terms of the act itself. the resulting damage is in this case "unfortunately" too small to convince people-with-no-balls to call right punishment. they'll suspend him for the rest of this season and call it done. and with silent allowance for such crap from the league this will continue. until some player is "finally" killed and NHL understands, this is no f* jokes if you hit hard with flat side of the stick to the throat you can cut guy`s breath for good. and it's definitely very dangerous. but the in-arena medical staff would surely solve this in any case. accidents like this can happen with pucks flying high so you have to be prepared for that
-
yeah... Bertuzzi is a Wings now so... you know... all please jump Todd loveboat and call any crap he's done in the past an accident, a tough play etc. now Simon is a ****** who blatantly, cold-bloodedly went after Hollweg trying to kill him... and... you know... he's not a Wings so it's obvious he has to be smoked. should however Simon ever come to Detroit this would be an accident, tough play, etc. you know what I mean... yay... double standards it's called. motorcitykid is 100% right. the league should have balls to punish this kind of behavior, not just throw laughable suspensions of a couple of games. this is brainless what Campbell and Co. are doing and one day it'll cost some player's life. I'd rather see players gone because they're rightfully ejected by the league, than because they're dead of some stick, sucker-punch, jump on the neck, hit from behind, etc.

cool. but it's not 60's anymore and extrapolation of that case to 2000 is not exactly OK. and actually NHLPA is quite political now itself. see: firing Bob Goodenow which "miraculously" opened the door for ending lockout
-
because labor unions are socialism thing and socialism has nothing to do with effectiveness end economical strength. it's all about securing lazy guys asses and "fair" sharing the money. yep, I'm generalizing, and not exactly trying to nail the issue
-
the other way of viewing this is: Simon did what he did in the heat of the moment. he deserves a boot anyway but you can't call it a blatantly set-up situation. which is what Bertuzzi was involved. from the media point of view, Moore incident is to much extent a bad ending (hence the league reaction). but it was an ending of what was a regular hunt and active search for bashing into which Crawford chased his team. sure, Moore is a ***** who was good only to f* the things up, but not when it came to fighting. but it doesn't change the fact that the entire situation was waaay to close to head-hunt. similar example is Ruff's recent decision to send Peters against Spezza. cold-bloded decision to goon things up and "show'em" with clear intent to do crap

Chelli is making 850k now and is not gonna make more following seasons. if he plays at this level I can't see real reason to not want him on a team
-
this team is built on defense so we will sure like hell work to cover any possible holes in offseason - even at the cost of forwards. my guess would be Lebda keeps regular spot and Kindl is finally in. if Markov stays and Schneider goes (which is likely to me) this leaves 2-3 spots to fill, depending on granpa Chris status I guess Holland would dig deep into his pockets to find something good here. no picks now. let's wait till June it takes time to fully develop D-man. not that Kronner missed a lot, but there's no reason to push him more than necessary. he could use more minutes but no major changes are necessary here

I was among people who though of Simon coming to Wings. am I glad he didn't come? who says he would do something like that on Wings team? and how on earth can one raise this argument when the Wings pulled Bertuzzi who is second only to McSorley on the list of worst suspensions of recent years? puhlease... Bertuzzi invalidates all such talk and yeah... I was also refering to Simon from his best playoff runs (Caps and Flames).

I'm into the camp for big suspension. I wish people who rule this league finally showed some balls and sent a message that this is unacceptable. fire Simon for the rest of this and next season. and be f* hard on any reckless crap which is done to players who 1) can't see the goon 2) are targeted to the head 3) with clear intent to injure. first Neil, then this... about time to act. don't wait until some goon kills a valuable player on the ice. because without clear indication of real punishment for such crap, the league will gonna end this way
-
ouch... Hollweg is no saint, but what Simon did was horrible. the guy deserves a big suspension and with such organization as Rangers against him he may as well expect one. reckless and utterly missing brains. what the * did he think? chopping like that is fine if you're lumberjack, but not in the NHL. thank you, *******, for making sports highlights in entire US. sure as hell it helps the NHL pave its way to Joe Average... definitely. the league oficials needs to show some balls and send a message that such crap is not gonna be tolerated. they left Bertuzzi and Crawford in the league even when it was a blatant case of reckless behavior and a perfect example of players (and coaches) having no respect against each other (which is among the NHL biggest problems nowadays). now they got their chance to do something. am I the only person that thinks NHL will hand him some 5 games and leave it?

what a boomer I mean: get real man. you got your ass handed 8 times in a row and god only knows how many since the Steve Yzerman 2nd OT goal, and you keep mouthing how Wings dread you. puhlease...

I remember that game. Kocur has called coach Q "*****" which was quite hilarious(sp). and people really, really though he was gonna jump to Blues bench and beat Q's ass. in fact, Kocur was fined by the league for the chairs then. as for the incident - I recall Jackman going for Luc, which pretty much pissed Wings coaching stuff, and most certainly the fans. yeah, that was actually a crappy thing to do. not to defend Jackman because he's no saint, but it's pity to see young stud defenseman told to do such crap. it's not even that Lucky Luc was everything but tough guy. that was regular season game, not much relevant after all, and frankly - this was against one of NHL classiest players ever. all that, because Blues, considering themselves elite team (and they're quite high in the standings then in fact) were pretty much demolished in that season series losing every single game with us that season, as far as I remember correctly. and desperate Joel wanted to show a message. not exactly on of the "we're not gonna let it go that easily" type. just a message that he's a dick

I don't care about rankings. those at TSN are not bad, but they're pretty "generous" to Canadian teams, so to say. I could see Oilers before Wings now at TSN, so go figure! my second impression is that they're not exactly pro-Wings. even on a night with just 2 games where the Wings play some outstanding hockey they always, always pick the other game to put as headline. speaking of injuries.... I'd say right now Buffalo and to some extent Preds aren't exactly in much better shape in this department than Wings.
-
Budaj has been extremely good recently, but I'd take them in 1st round in a heartbeat. could be one hell of a series, but we have a good chance of beatng tehm in 4-5 games. and yeah... would be another great chance for morons like Woody Paige or Kara Yorio to write crap about the Wings, only to jump the bandwaggon (OK, that's Yorio, Paige is dumb homer, anyway) could be one big fun bring'em!!!
-
I remember myself some slight booing and was indeed pretty shocked to hear it. and I'm also not in the group to argue that whoever comes to JLA or calls himself Wings fan is god only knows how knowledgable and how how fair to other teams. having said that - whoever claims Lidstrom is overrated needs to turn off his EA Sports NHL and check out real hockey - that is if his parents let him watch TV past 7pm
-
yeah... sign an extension of his contract for next 40 years... DiPietro is fine now, but once Isles fail to make playoffs for two consecutive seasons he may loose the motivation. and his contract will be pain in Snow's ass. poor Garth will have to work something out with Wang's dumb moves
-
December'03 if I recall correctly. and the funniest thing about it was we started losing when regulars returned to the lineup. then in January we moved Cujo to Griffins..
-
so far DiPietro is saving Isles. I'm not rooting for any particular team. Rags are pathetic with their campaign to play like s***, discard Lundqvist capabilities and miss the playoffs once again. on the other hand, I can hardly root for a team that signs those 30yr / 5 billion USD contracts and still barely hangs at playoff spot... I hope Bruins will make it to the playoffs, so whoever wins this game, better do it in regulation to avoid Buttman points
-
I assume both teams will have good fight in those 4 games this month. but other than that I think both will insure to run head to head to eventually be able to swap places if #5 spot and #8 spot will suit different tastes if Sharks get to #5 though, I'm pretty sure Wings will be crazy to steal the #1 spot
-
Kozzie? (I know he has A, but am not sure about C) Brendan? (same here)
-
we're f*d without Homer. and just when our PP is down this way, refs will whistle all the way in Wings favor
-
wasn't Keith Primeau captain with Flyers? speaking of Flyers - Hatcher too counts as ex-Wing. but I've no idea if he was C in Philly. he was with Stars though, I guess
-
ummm... doesn't certain Manny Legace play on the Blues, huh?
-
long shot, but count Aaron Ward here, too
-
Joey got game's first star not to shabby if you ask me truth being said, those Bruins are getting it done recently. they may seem down in the standings, but have games in hand and if you look how they perform against good teams, they sure look fine. I hope Lewis brings them into playoff picture. they may fall quickly if it's 8th spot and Buffalo in Round 1, though
