yep. totally agree with this. I'm not sold on this hit, either. it wasn't necessary and for god's sake, I don't get why he picked Lupul. EDIT: holy cow... Stevens was a monster.
-
yeah. but it's been in the league since Stevens from what I remember, and most possibly even before. you do it tough - you get penalized by the zebras and will most possibly carry a hitting marker next time you meet the team you hurt. for every crap you have to pay the price. and frankly, id I was an Oiler fan I'd be the last person who complains about a big hit in Edmonton-Detroit game. I know some of them see Torres as the next incarnation of Dalai-Lama, but it's been their f* team who gooned us first. now they get their share of crap and instantly turn on the whining-tune... oh puhlease... Kronwall should get his penalty, maybe even some fine from the league if they found it overly over the line, but let's not make Kronwall a cheap shot artist or demand suspensions... Lupul has great talent which he showed with the Ducks. either Oilers are not using him properly or he's having some other issues. the kid has every tool to become solid forward. I like him and hope he'll be fine. yeah, I somehow feel for this kid and would definitely prefer to see Kronner picking up sh!t like Torres instead of Lupul dito

I can't honestly say if his foot was on the ice. looks like it was there, but I'd have to see a better angle. having said that: nice, tough hit. not Stevens-like, but still tough. good job

forget about the chair. the best of coach Kocur went when he called Joel Q a "*****"
-
expecting "let's not trade nobody from Flip line" thread Williams need a change of scenery. he still has hockey to play but seems unable to get it done with Wings
-
of course it is this way. and no doubt about it Oilers will make the playoffs.. suuuuure.... some people just can not stop smoking this s*** and seeing the world through pink glasses
-
Murray is scratched from tonights game. officially it's some groin minor injury but knowing precedents(sp) from the past, this could indicate an upcoming trade. potential buyers for him?
-
you know... I find it pretty embrassing to read justification over justification about what Thuguzzi did to Moore just because people are falling in love with an idea of having him on their team. yet they always bashed him when he was "far from town". such double standards really makes me wanna puke :puke: IMHO, there was a lot of team "atmosphere" involved there in Canucks, as usual with this butthole Crawford (who is to large extent responsible for the situation), but getting over the line for no special reason is always wrong in my book. I can see logic behind such crap if you play playoff hockey and need a series edge when playing tough opponent (see: Hatcher run on Sykora in 2000 SCF). but in regular season against a team you're not having any rivalry or vital competition... oh puhlease... having said that - when healthy he could be a major improvement for Wings. and have a muuuuuch bigger value to this team than Hudler. we already have skilled, small Euros capable of delivering goals. the point is: we can not stop at this point and a team needs something more than just finesse play. and Bertuzzi brings exactly what we are short of. let's see how he does and pull the trigger for a trade if there's a chance of having Bertuzzi healthy in playoffs. it's up to him then to show there's fire left. but before you bash this line, let me answer a question: would you prefer to retire with people having memories of your playoff acomplishments or rather a sucker-punch you once delivered? thank you
-
ummm.... did you mean his vast experience of whole 0 (read: zero) NHL playoff games? Miller has talent, but you can't say for sure he will be a beast in playoffs. possibly, but definitely not 100% sure
-
Hudler for Bertuzzi is perfect and pretty much enough. another trade for some gritty 4th liner and we're perfectly fine. the point is this team is working right now and only needs some additional depth to put the load off the 1st line. and definitely it's our 2nd line which needs some improvement. throw Hudler, Williams and some picks and get one big guy like Bertuzzi and if there's any chance also some banging RW (Asham, Mayers, Lapointe) and call it done. we can't change half of the team and f* up all the chemistry.
-
are you kidding me? we can trade a 178 lbs / 5'9" Euro for a 235 lbs / 6'3" a$$ who can both hit and score, has something to prove and barring some serious problems has every capability to be a major force in playoffs... no way we trade 1st round pick for him (not that this draft was overly exciting but it's still 1st round pick anyway). but Hudler and even some 2nd round for Thugguzzi with a chance of doing damage in playoffs. done in a heartbeat. sure, I'm not a big fan of him, but let's keep it aside and call it straight: if healthy he'll be a huge factor in Wings cup run
-
the last thing I want is to see Wings facing yet abother 8th seeded team. so far it looks like Wild and I'm not sure if I want to see us facing them. I'll definitely prefer to see us at 4th and playing Dallas in round 1. of NHL trophies I care the President's one is well below Stanley one
-
they have >8M $ cap space so their GM may pull the trigger to some major trade(s) and fetch some playoff experience from the market (i.e. Guerin or Tkachuk likes - but I don't know how's their situation and whom they may need). with some added veteran depth they can do it. and if they get past 1st round and gain some confidence they can be one hell of a team to beat. for now they indeed seem too young and too inexperienced to make some noise. as the old saying goes: possibly but not likely
-
Sakic? none Svatos? dunno. is he physical and RW?
-
big. Bertuzzi has 5.3 M$/yr. not for Holland's pockets, exccept if Lang and someone else leaves Guerin makes 2.4 M$/yr. much better to chew on
-
cool. now he has 17 points this season which is about the level of Franzenstein and slightly less than Drapes. sure, Kronwal has more ice time but he has different job to do. numbers do not tell the stories about players. and most certainly not about defencemen. Shane O'Brien of Ducks has 14 points and you could barely find a reason to comply about his play
-
good point overall, but I do miss the point why a defensive defenseman is supposed to score goals. Kronner is here to prevent goals not to score points and he's perfectly fine at this craft. on the other hand - I took a quick look through the NHL rosters and found following RW which should to be fit on Hollands pockets and suit our needs: Jamal Mayers (Blues) Anson Carter (Jackets) Marty Lapointe, Radim Vrbata (Hawks) Chris Clark (Caps) Trent Hunter, Aaron Asham (Islanders) correct me if some of those are for any reason unavailable or unrealistic. but what's your opinion about pairs of those? how's Mayers + Hunter? or if Isles keep floating in playoff picture: Mayers + Clark?
-
from what I've heard Parent is supposed to be top-4 defenseman, but Upshall prety much couldn't crack Preds lineup and was injury-prone (yeah, as if Floppa wasn't)
-
how do you define big market team? one that is unable to fill arena for god only knows how many years already? now imagine this: Wings get Guerin and some second banging forward, and we meet Nashville in WCF. nevermind who's gonna win it but heck! that would be a birth of rivalry yeah... sure like hell I'd like it to finish this way
-
ouch... poor Max, he was having huge year...
-
amen. it's a gamble because they lack playoff experience but Floppa gives them huge advantage, and they already had depth to get far into playoffs. I'd not exactly paint our chances that bad, but unfortunately all those teams would give us tough challenge. Wings have huge D and Hasek in net and that should not be understimated, even more if you take into account the tight system which Babcock implemented. we need 2 big forwards able to create some room in front of the net. ones that add experience and toughness. that's all and enough to upgrade the team and not f* up it's chemistry. if Holland dos it we'll be perfectly fine. whether it means able to win a series against SJ or NSH... ? we have to wait to see
-
get rid of instigator and stop turning this sport into gentlemen afternoon tea, and it will be much safer. a lot of head attacks nowadays are done mainly becaeuse of lack of mutual respect and stupid rules that allow cheap shoters like Ruutu or Nieminen to escape wth their craft. mandatory visors are typical Bettman-style: taming effects rather than healing sources I'm not saying it's bad, but they'd better focus on real solutions not cheap alternatives
-
some personal matter I guess. hope everything is fine! please post any info if you find out what happened ummm... excuse me a joke but: was it Kenny Holland ringing?
-
I'm glad Holland did not get Floppa for this price. he might have driven the price up, but in the end did not pay it. good. we can not sacrifice our future with such rental. we're already thin on prospects and draft picks. not that this year's draft was overly exciting but it's still 1st round pick (even if late most possibly) and 2 young players. we could not afford this. but for those poining out to Floppa injuries - you better use some brains before. he's always had injuries in regular season but come playoffs time he was healthy and delivering. and heck! delivering like crazy. in my book it is called great player worth the effort. Preds are going for the cup this year. it's to early IMHO but in the new NHL there's no time to develop cores of players and growing up to playoff experience. bold move but one that can pan out. and yeah, who said they can't succeed? let's hope Holland adds 2 physical forwards with playoffs experience and team attitude and I'm perfectly fine. Wings will be fine without Floppa

no problem. we visit them like 4 times a season thanks to Betman splendid economical visions, so Guerin will have a chance to see his family. I'm for Guerin here as priorityy. no to Bertuzzi, but aye for Tkachuk. Mayers sounds cool, too.
