his NHL debut was delayed some 2 years because of injuries if I recall correctly. and then he spent half of his first year curing broken foot (in Staples swamp).

looks like "Cleary is lazy and he sucks" I hope Babcock wakes them up in playoff. either this line has no chemistry and Babs is looking for Holland to make some trade here (which is quite reasonable if you ask me) or they are simply not playing up to their potential for some reason.

are we talking about the same Williams who was Wings leading goal scorer at some moment last season? I;m not completely sold on getting rid of him, but would like to know why he's underpeforming so badly

you can't say for sure, but they have enough depth and good enough goaltending to go far. and the further they get the more dangerous they'll be with growing confidence. they sure have the depth, and with 6+ M$ cap space are also in position to add huge names for playoff run. unless they f* it up by screwing team chemistry they'll be real. yeah, I'd not want to face them in 2nd round or in WCF. in fact, when Holland shops for physical forward we'll be able to say similar of Wings

yes, I too remember those cases from previous seasons. but this season we had 4-3 and 2-1 against Stars and these were both tight games. if anything, I'd rather use these recent games as indication rather than what happened long time ago nice try, though

not exactly. Stars ar valid opponent and the game will be pressumably both tight and low scoring. they already gave us tough battle with Turco in the net, and Smith increases their chances. hence my conclusion that the game will be decided by a single flukey goal. Oz is definitely prone to such crap and if the Wings not push a lot and stay tight in D the game will be lost by goalie's mistake nothing against Oz, but he's not the go-to goalie for tight battles

they'll have Smith we'll have Osbad. if the Wings come out sharp they'll win it. otherwise Oz will win the game for Stars

yeah, no doubt about it. but Bettman is a manager and he is not supposed to know the product, but to sell it ;-) of those condition he definitely suffices the first (indeed, he knows $hit about hockey) but the same can't be said about the later, because NHL as a product is sold pretty poorly dito Bettman robbed this sport of "accumulators" - teams that buy quality players and are boasted with skill that fans love to watch. he flattened the league in terms of competitiveness and skill-distribution which is not good for sport followers. it has some advatages (I actualy like the fact that there's emphasis on building teams smart rather than bold) but it's not gonna be good from the media perspective

thanks to all of you who curse Bettman for the idea but... you know what? hockey actually has fans outside North America and people out there would also like to see the stars. which are, already to big extent, coming from Europe. what exactly gives you the right to demand NHL players not to come here, to Europe, to display their skills? with that many Euros in NHL rosters there will actually be many players in front of their countrymen fans. because there will sure as hell be many Swedes, Finns, Czechs or Russians. why must the NHL not do this, please? sorry for being a harsh ass but I hate this kind of attitude. hockey players are not US/Canada property. period

MacDonald screw it big time with goal number 4 if I recall correctly (the one between his legs) but other than that he made a couple of big saves. but to blame him for a loss is as stupid as with Cujo and Flames series back in 2004. it shows utter lack of understanding of the game

Wings do NOT want to overtake Nashville. it's quite obvious for some time that this team is not going for playoffs 1st spot but is quite blatantly targeting 4th spot. and it's perfectly understandable to me.

no reason to panic because of jus one irrelevant game. but hey, it really pisses me off to see Wings collapsing that badly...

unfortunately, Wings did not play as if they intended to hand this game to these goons.
