LOL! The players may beg to differ...

OMG!!!

Wow, that had to HURT!! Tomorrow's trash day - I'd better go get my trash out ASAP...I've got to see this OT!
-
The 96-97 second-round "sweep" was against the Ducks, and IIRC, three of those four games went to OT, and two of them went to multiple OT's. So although it was a sweep it was a hard-won sweep. I remember at the time some people were calling it the first 5 1/2-game sweep in NHL history, because of all the OT's that were needed. LOL At this point I don't know who I'd want to face in the conference finals. You could make an argument for either team. One thing, though is that the Wings really do have Turco's number. And yeah, if they come out the winner, they are going to be a little deflated after being up 3 games to none and letting SJ back into the series.

Mine are fine, aside from the white looking a little dingy. But I bound them together by round, so it looks like I am wearing two bracelets - one six-strand, red and white bracelet and one four-strand, all-red bracelet. Here's a pic - it's not a great pic and is kind of dark because I used my cell phone camera and it doesn't have a flash, and it's pretty cloudy here today - You can see how I bound them together really well on the Nashville bracelet.

For sure. When we lose it's because we are too old to compete with the "youngsters" on the other team. But when we win, it's because the other team was too banged up and therefore was an easy target for our geriatric Wings. Whatever, beeshes. Say what you will, we'll just take Stanley home with us, thankyouverymuch. You know, I found myself wondering the same thing the other night - I was watching the game and thinking, "I haven't heard Joe Sakic's name very much so far in this series." Ditto for the others you mentioned. It's clear the Wings are the better team...they beat the Avs soundly in the regular season and they have been solid against them thus far in the playoffs. It seems like every playoff year the Wings have a player or a line that seems to step up to the plate - like an unsung hero, so to speak. Someone who you look at and say, "He's playing out of his mind!" This year so far it's Johan Franzen, but a close second IMO is Chris Osgood. Ozzie's been there, done that, but he was called upon to take over for Dom when he faltered, and has been nothing short of spectacular so far. Here's hoping the whole team keeps playing like it has been and only gets better...one more win tonight and we're halfway to Stanley!

Hell, at least you've got full time - I have only been able to find part time work, 10-3:30, 3-4 days a week. Only bonus is I don't have to drive in rush hour traffic. But the job is 40 miles from my house... Anyway, regarding Forsberg - it's one thing to take a gamble on a player and once he gets here he gets injured. It could happen to anyone, really. But when you know his history as everyone - not just the Wings - knows about Forsberg, IMO it's just plain stupidity to take a chance on him and cross your fingers, hoping he would be well enough to play. If other teams (Colorado) want to be that stupid, then be my guest. I'm so glad the Wings passed on him, or rather, he passed on the Wings, depending on whom you believe. I look at it this way - if we signed Forsberg, we may not have signed Stuart, who has been very good for us since the trade deadline. Give me Stuart over Forsberg any day.

You are, of course, assuming he had one in the first place... Anyway, the first report I saw earlier today said he suffered a cardiac arrest, too, and it was the New York Daily News. I should know better - that rag's on par with the National Enquirer for accuracy in reporting. Avery's spleen is lacerated, not ruptured. If it was ruptured he would probably have bled to death, or at least he wouldn't have been able to finish the game and probably require emergency surgery. My birth sister suffered a ruptured spleen in a car accident last fall. A lacerated spleen bleeds a lot, but usually doesn't require surgery - they monitor the bleeding and if it doesn't stop then they do surgery. But all indications are Avery won't need to have surgery and should be his old pesty self next fall. I wonder if this is going to eat into his Vogue internship time. I guess Anna Wintour will have to get her own coffee until Aves feels up to it. But in all seriousness, I hope he gets well soon, too. I mean, he's an idiot and a jerk and just an absolute asshat at times, but no one deserves anything like this.

Just in, right under the wire!!!

I'l have the voodoo dolls done tomorrow...late night at work. Anyway, regarding the number - 666 wasn't Roy's number, either, but it's the number the original cartoonist put on the back of the sweater. I'll see if I can change the numbers and still have it look decent.
-
I remade the back of the Roy voodoo doll for Budaj, and I'll do Jose tomorrow...err, later today.

My white ones aren't turning pink but all of them are starting to look kind of ratty, especially the first-round ones which I bound together with a red thread. So now I have two skinny red bracelets (for the two wins against the Avs) and one thicker red and white bracelet (comprised of the four red and two white representing the six games against the Preds). I'm not sure if I like them bound together but I am afraid to unbind them because we've won the first two games against the Avs. I think I'll just leave well enough alone and continue with the way I've been doing them.

Mike Thompson did part 2 of his octopi-twirling test - with a raw one this time - and still no debris came off - Here's the rest of the results - Octopus Twirling Test, part 2 - the "raw" data

I think they said the other day he really can't grow one! IIRC, I've never seen Ozzie with much more than peach fuzz on his chin...maybe a little goatee or a Fu Manchu but not much more than that.
-
We'll have to make a Budaj one, too!
-
OMG!!! You still have yours, too? I might still have the Roy template...I know I saved it but I might have lost it when my old computer crashed two years ago. I'll look tomorrow and if I have it I will post it. *edit - I found it!!! If someone wants to 'shop it to put "Theodore" on the back, be my guest!
-
Mine don't look too bad...they look a little worn, but they're not discolored or anything. I was going to use silver thread to bind each round together, but thought that might be presumptuous and cheese off the hockey gods, so I am using red. I'll save the silver for later...
-
I did it kind of fast, but I'm thinking about going over to CafePress and having bumper stickers made -
-
I'm going to get some silver thread and bind the first-round ones together - silver for Stanley, of course!

Do the AP writers have something against the Wings?
Yzermania19 replied to tweekvp's topic in General
It might have been a deliberate shot on Lids' part, but it was lucky that it worked and went in, just as he planned. The Predators were the ones with the luck in this series - I mean, think about it...the Wings had at least 38 shots on goal in every game (except Game 3, where they only had 26) and the most goals they scored in the six games is 4. Ellis was outstandingly lucky in goal - if it wasn't for him, every game would have been a 5, 6 or 7-goal Wings victory. He kept them in every game and gave them a chance to win. But regardless, every good team has to have some luck behind it. I don't care what people want to attribute the wins to - luck, skill, whatever - as long as the Wings keep winning, it doesn't matter to me. -
...the Wings go home...

I still think at some point Devellano is going to retire, Nill will move on and everyone will move up a step, essentially opening the door for Stevie to be the GM. One reason I think Nill will leave is that he has to kind of realize the ultimate objective is to have Stevie be the GM, unless Nill is totally content with his assistant GM position. The Wings may want to keep Nill as AGM because he is the head of amateur scouting and draft selections, and we all know how good the Wings are at that!

It's got to be Ozzie...IMO his play in Game 5 earned him the chance. Plus, with this game potentially being the series-clincher he can't risk putting Dom in and sending this thing to a Game 7.
