Should the Wings lose to the Ducks (which I don't think is going to happen, BTW - Wings in 7!) I will be cheering on the Senators. Ottawa has been my second favorite NHL team since they came into the league. Of course, they're like #5 on my list, since my love of the Wings is so large it takes up four spaces. LOL But alas, even though the Sens have made it to the SCF - don't get me wrong, I am very happy for them - I will not be able to cheer for them because I will be busy cheering on the Wings to their fourth Cup in 10 years.

It's ridiculous to blame Lilja for the loss...the blame should lie on the rest of the team, who failed to score an insurance goal or two. After Lilja scored and the game continued on at 1-0, I grew increasingly nervous when the Wings kept getting chance after chance after chance to no avail. Mickey Redmond's words echoed in my head, "all it takes is one mistake, one good shot on goal and BAM! the game is tied." How often have we heard that from the Mickster, among others? A one-goal lead is barely safe in the regular season and it's practically a blinking red "DANGER ZONE" sign in the playoffs. Still, I believe the Wings will come back and win Game 6...after watching the total domination by the Wings for the first 59 minutes of this game today, I cannot see how Anaheim will win Game 6. The Wings today, despite the loss, have proven they are the better team. What lost the game today is the lack of power play goals. If I was Babcock, I would do nothing but special teams at practice later this morning. When they get the PP going, look out! Ottawa here we come!!!

Their defenseman dude did that thing to our forward dude and the stupid ref dude missed it! I HATE when that happens!!!

I said all along I thought the series would go at least six games, probably seven. So now it will go to seven. The Wings will emerge victorious. Next weekend we will be hosting the Stanley Cup Final at the Joe.

Got that straight...and I am not even warming up yet. Plus, you really don't want to hear me sing. LOL I can't say I exactly feel good or excited about the Wings losing today - I would much rather see them going to Anaheim with a 3-games to 2 lead, but I am encouraged (yes, that's the right word - encouraged) by the Wings' dominant play today. They were by far the better team and if it wasn't for a late penalty in the third that gave the Ducks the extra man (plus, pulling Giggy put them up by two men) the Wings would have pulled it off in regulation. Then today's hero/goat, Andreas Lilja, coughs up a bad pass that Selanne puts right behind Dom in OT. Flukey, yes, but it still counts. Forget the outcome - the Wings were nearly perfect through 59 minutes of hockey. That is something to build on for Game 6. In addition, there is the almost eerie parallel between this series and the 2002 WCF against the Avs. Really, really strange (Twilight Zone music plays in the background).

A couple of posters on the message boards over at SensNation.com are already talking about a Detroit/ottawa matchup and exacting revenge on Dom, who "refused" to play in last year's playoffs. Regardless, I am glad for the Senators. They have been my second favorite team after the Red Wings for a while now and for the last few years when Detroit couldn't seem to get past the second round, I said since we couldn't win the Cup I'd like Ottawa to get it. However, when we play them in the Final, all bets are off. I am a Red Wing fan first and foremost and just like the players on the ice who have to put aside friendships and in some cases, familial ties, my allegiance is for my team. It's Red Wings all the way, baby!

That's a rather interesting parallel, but like the others, I don't care how we get there, as long as we do. The fact is, most of the time (I think like 80% or something) the team that winds Game 5 goes on to win the series. It's not imperative, but it is vitally important the Wings win tomorrow, cuz being up 3 games to 2 is a helluva lot different than being down 3 games to 2.

Count me in, too!!! I don't think anyone really believed this would be a quick or easy series, and right now we're looking at a 6-game series, at minimum. I truly believe the Wings will win Games 5 and 6 and move on to meet the Senators in the Stanley Cup Final.

He said he felt the Wings were probably better off without his 41-year-old, broken-down body but to imply his presence was detrimental to the team is just ludicrous. He said he retired because he couldn't help the team anymore and he was finding it increasingly difficult to stay healthy.
