I am really curious - and concerned - to see just what Franzen's problem was/is. Holland's statement has me very worried.

This article was in the Detroit Free Press today...it just confirms everything this thread has said about Stevie - More - Steve Yzerman shows class in front office

IIRC, he did that in 1995 and they did not win the Cup that year. When they won the Campbell Trophy again in 1997, he wouldn't touch it. In fact I remember a photo of the trophy sitting all by itself on an overturned Gatorade bucket in a corner of the locker room, completely ignored. Regardless, I don't know if there is anything I can add to what the others have said. Stevie always has been, still is and always will be a class act. He doesn't have an arrogant bone in his body. He is the most selfless team player - even in retirement - that professional sports has ever seen. He's still so humble, it's amazing. I love him and when he does stuff like what he did last night -- basically stay away and let the team celebrate *their* Cup - it makes me love him even more. What an amazing person. Yep, that's about right, IMO.

As of this evening, Dunhams on Woodward and the one on 12 Mile and John R only had youth t-shirts - no adult t's or hats. I'm going to go to JCPenney and/or Hockeytown Authentics tomorrow after I watch the parade on TV.

Because every series we have won this year we've won on the road, and because to a man, I don't think there is ANY Red Wing player who actually wants to play a Game 7. They know they blew it Monday and they don't want to take a chance at a winner-takes-all Game 7...too many fluky things can go wrong and the better team doesn't always win. This ends tonight and the Wings will be the victors.

It's a play on words. The Wings are on the cusp (meaning brink, verge or edge) of winning Stanley, so they are on the "Stanley Cusp."

I started crying when a friend said the Wings were unstoppable and they were going to win the Cup after Game 2. I'm definitely going to be tired for work on Tuesday...unfortunately I can't take the day off, otherwise I would.

WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I can hardly stand it! I'm glad it's Monday and we don't have a two-day wait like between Games 3 and 4. ONE. MORE. WIN. OH. MY. GOD. I'm putting some beer in the fridge and WHEN the Wings win the Cup Monday night I am going to have my own little toast! Now if I could only find that blow-up Stanley Cup I bought several years ago...

NBC's Powerplay Angle From The Blueline Is Horrible
Yzermania19 replied to Daniel Chosen's topic in General
I hate that angle, too! It's just really bad and it gives me a headache. Seriously. But I won't switch to CBC now...I've watched Versus/NBC throughout the SCF and being the superstitious kind of person I am, I have to stick with what works. The Wings are up 3 games to 1 and I'm not going to mess it up now! LOL -
I've been lucky in that department. The place I work at has some really draconian rules (no radios, no ipods, no internet, no email, no cell phones, no texting, no personal phone calls, no talking, no lunch break, no im'ing...and it's a PR agency! ) but so far no one has said anything about my bracelets. They haven't even asked what they're for.

The only problem I have with Sid being on the list is that he's only been a captain for a couple of years. It has nothing to do with age at all. That's hardly enough time to put him on a list of the best captains. I wouldn't have put Stevie on a list of the best captains back in 1988 after he had only two seasons with the C. He hadn't earned it yet, much like Sid hasn't earned his place on that list, either. Same with Nick. While I think Nick has been the perfect replacement for Stevie, he hasn't quite earned the distinction of being on a best captains list. Give them both time, and I'm sure they'll earn it. Just a little of how I feel about Sid - -I know a lot of you think Sid's a whiner, but he does in some ways remind me of Stevie. He's a scoring phenom who, at a very young age, is expected to take the team on his back and turn them around from being one of the worst in the league into a powerhouse. He's been given the captaincy at a very young age and has had a lot of responsibility foisted upon him. I don't necessarily think he's a whiner, but he is very young and will make mistakes due to lack of maturity and experience. He has the potential for greatness and I hope the Pens organization can bring him along, much the way the Wings did with Stevie, so that he can realize his full potential.

Yep!!! I don't make a bracelet until after the game. I keep my thread (no needles needed for the way I make mine) out of sight until the game is over. Also, I haven't taken mine off for any reason since the playoffs started, except after the last game of the series, so I can bind them together. And I just noticed today that the white bracelets from the losses in Rounds 1 and 3 are starting to get a little pink. LOL

I love Shanny but I don't think I want him back, not as a player anyway. The Wings have moved forward quite well since he left and Stevie retired. I think we are poised for success for at least a few more years. Bringing Shanny back would be looking to the past rather than the future. Besides, he sold his house in Birmingham and plunked down $17 million for a penthouse in NYC last year, and his wife's family is not too far away in Boston. Seems to me like he wants to stay there, even if he retires from playing.

What are the requirements for a player to get their name on the cup?
Yzermania19 replied to Osgood=WIN!'s topic in General
That's where the petition part comes in. It's up to whichever team wins as to whether they want to petition the league to get the names of players who don't fill the games-played requirement on the Cup. In the case of an injured player, like Kopecky, I think it's a slam-dunk that should the Wings win, they will ask the league to put his name on Stanley. As for Selanne, if his team made it to the Cup final and he played in one game of the Final, it wouldn't matter how many games he played in the regular season, he would automatically be eligible to have his name on the Cup. -

I don't think we're getting ahead of ourselves. Someone just asked a question out of curiosity and others have answered it, based on the rules and past history. That's all. -

Ummm, I'm going to take a wild stab at it and say no. Just call it a gut feeling.
