As you may know, the NHL has added a new rule for the Penalty shot. No longer does the player need to be near the front of the net for a penalty shot to be called. If you are at center ice and taken down when there is a clear lane in front of you, you can be given a penalty shot. My question is, when will the refs start enforcing this? Iv only been watching wings game this season, and there are been several chances for this rule to be used. Any input?

As much as i feel like this kid could offer us alot. I wouldnt waste time giving him chances when he hasnt done anything in the AHL. In my book, this is this kids last chance this year. It wouldnt supprise me if he goes back to russia. He needs to beef up. He came to this camp totally unprepaired.

I cant wait to see this game. Sharks have alot of talent with Michalek and a few veterans. This is going to be a tough game for ozzie between the pipes. We have to play physical to win this one

Totally Agree. Hasek can be great, but im not convinced that being the number 1 guy is solely based on his past numbers / MVP's / Trophies / ECT. This is now, and the game has changed alot since then.

Yea we wouldnt want ozzie to steal haseks spot just because he can be more solid in net and actually stop a one on one with the goalie now would we? 6 Goals? Come on, ok one of them was an empty net, one was deflected off kronwall, and one was a result the ducks forwards crashing the net. But the other 3 were his fautl, and would have eventually kept the game tied for a decent amount of time. I wouldnt mind seeing ozzie being number 1. But he has to prove himself. And hes on his way of attempting that. Losing to a team that was 2-4 by 3 goals, im sorry but thats the netminders responcibility too

Ok im sorry to be the spoiler in this topic, but ozzie has been sharp as hell in the preseason thus far.... And so has Howard... BUT WHAT ABOUT HASEK??? He's looked terrible in net the other night. Howards netminding skills are alot like Osgoods. Id really love to see it be Osgood and Howard. But Howard needs the time to play and with hasek in the picture thats virtually impossible. I think Ozzie should be the starter for the wings, Hasek backup and howard the starter in GR. I still think resigning hasek was a mistake and its slowing howards progress to enter the NHL

Why isnt the wings game on tv tonight? This better not be some continous trend that allows tigers baseball to be seen instead of the Wings. Il be pissed

Iv seen both McGrath and Koopmans play for the storm last year, McGrath got sent down for a game or two, McGrath impressed the hell out of me, but then again it was on a dinky rink. As for Koopmans, i think he has what it takes to play in the AHL and possibly NHL, but with all our skillful netminders, we sure do have alot of insurance

When did we sign this guy and for how long? He's listed as double backup. He has concrete numbers. Is this guy more than likely going to play in GR? We have so much goalie depth in this team that it seems like the posibilities are endless. Ozzie wants to play for 5 more years, Hasek is still playing, Howard and Liv fighting for future spots. I was supprised not to see Howard's name listed as double backup. Iv been wanting to see this kid be our number 1 sence we have drafted him comming out of college and setting the GAA record. Most teams its not that hard to figure out the posibillity of who will get the position. Its just so much harder in detroit becasue of all the names and numbers in the mix

Im all for NHL in Canada... When nash. became a Expansion team...... everyone including bettman knew it was a great idea....... If the team re=locates........ KC will have the same think happen to them in 5 years......... Then it will be Vegas MOVE THE PREDS TO HAMILTON OR HALIFAX (where hockey is literally a lifestyle and not just a sport)

About 6 weeks ago the detroit free press had a front page news about the new arena. Aparently Ilitch has decided to demolish a few buildings he owns. He owns a few buildings on Woodward Ave. on the same side as the hockeytown cafe.... only on the other side of I75. I forgot who wrote the article but im sure its arcived on the website. The amound of land available when the buildings were knocked down, was about twice the size of the JLA. It sounded pretty convincing to me. And i know someone wouldnt print that article if they wernt on to something.

Um ok, Hasek 100% healthy? That explains why he didnt start the past 2 games? Injured Groin the past 2 games? Thats why liv backed up ozzie the other night in Chicago. That article makes perfect sense. I have faith in hasek, but if he falls short of winning in the first round.... id be disapointed to see babcock put all of his faith in hasek, without looking at osgoods stats.

I know they really havent yet determined it yet. but will there be more games on versus or hdnet? Im buying a new HD tv soon and i wanna know if they plan to air more games on these channels other than just one night a week. Does Anyone Know?

dont like the idea of them changing the name...... are we still going to have an ECHL team here in toledo..... or will it be AHL? i kinda like having the fact that a few years ago ..... we were watching bootland, Ellis, and joey mac play here in toledo... now they play in NHL games...... folding the team will hurt the city look at old ned skeldon stadium.....NOBODY EVER WENT TO MUD HENS GAMES... they get a new stadium downtown.....EVERY GAME IS JAM PACKED thats exactly how it will be when the new arena is built....... only nobody will recognize the "New Team"

I hope hasek is ready for 2nights game..... he will see massive rebounds ..... just like ozz saw last night. I just dont like how haseks last performace against boston (a not so-called playoff contender). It worries me that were putting him up against the number 1 team 2night.

Ok, yesterday during the 3rd peroid Mickey said ozzie is still considered the wings "Backup". I just find it hard to believe they are actually scheduling a goaltenders starts. Ozzie looked good last night, Ozzie had Kariya's number last night. Why change what worked last night?
