Hi Everyone, I'm planning my first trip to LCA and wanted to know if ticket prices have increased a lot compared to recent JLA prices. Currently single game tickets for the upcoming season are only available through resale and I'm not sure how to guage the prices because I don't know what face value is. $100 used to get you a lower bowl seat. What I'm seeing starts at twice that. Is it new prices for the new arena, or are these well above face value? *It also could be that I want to go to the NYE game. Thanks!

In case this kid needs a nickname, instead of AA/'My name is too much to say'... Every time I hear someone say it, it sounds like they're saying "Happy to see you"... Yeah, that probably won't catch on.

I have my own opinion on this, but I want to see what others think or if I have missed anything being said from within the organization. What are the odds of the Red Wings sending Larkin down to GR to not burn a year off his ELC? What happens when Datsyuk comes back? Do they keep that top line together, or drop Larkin to 2nd line C? What are the lines if Larkin is 2nd C? My personal take: 1. He's already proved he's a permanent top-6 Red Wing. 2. Franzen going down makes this an easier call. 3. The lines get shuffled around all year.

There's a lot of that sentiment given here (from myself as well)... But what if he has 0-pts in his next 5 games, minus something, and is going through some obvious growing pains. What do they do then? Things can change quickly. If they change that quickly, who knows?

Hockey analytics is still in it's infancy. It's not really a thing at the minor leagues level from what I can tell. There isn't as much dedication to tracking... Though I am having conversations with another company that isn't directly affiliated with any one team. More and more NHL teams are coming around to seeing what they can get out of data, so I would imagine there's room for someone like me in a few places in the league right now. The only thing I ever heard relating to the Red Wings and analytics was Babcocks interest in it about a year ago. So I may be going up the wrong tree here, but it's my favourite tree.

This place is a community and I know there are a lot of good people here. I am a part of many communities, and I try to help people within them whenever I can. In my experience others try to do the same. It's nice. If someone reads my original post and thinks I'm nuts... Then I guess they won't help me. I did my best to be honest and sincere.

I have a Masters in neuroscience. Obviously there's no direct link, but... I understand the relational aspects of data, and how to effectively make comparisons and design experiments using statistics. My inclination to hockey analytics is the idea of mixing those data-related skills with my personal interest for the content of hockey. PM'ing you.

Thanks Ami, Those conferences are definitely a good idea and I'm interested in attending them... They're just a little far off time-wise. I intend to be pro-active in the meantime.

I'm not sure what part of my post made it sound like a joke. I've never posted about the topic either. I don't think there is any linear way to get into the field. I have a (relevant) science research background, but no contacts in hockey. Talking to people in the right places would help a lot.

Anyone else think that giving up very little to trade for someone that's a short term cap nightmare might make sense? i.e. Patrick Marleau - 2 more years at 6.9M Can you think of any others like this?

It's just a matter of the team trying to change styles to something more suited to playoff hockey (defense first). The new system is really disrupting the offensive production of Ovy and Green. There's nothing wrong with them, they're just having a tougher time hitting the score sheet like they used to with these new defensive priorities in mind. So yes, a new coach would have a different style, and this would certainly change the way these guys produce offensively.

It would be difficult to not look good on that team. If I recall, he was given a lot of minutes with Yzerman and Shanahan during that run.
