fact remains Williams just wasn't getting it done after that Torres hit last year... he was a waste of a roster spot, so i don't really care that Calder didn't work out.

we wish... CBA rules though, if Matthias get's sent down, it's to junior untill he's 20, so he can't play in the AHL anyway..

i was for the trade at the time, and i'm sitll not against it.. i was just pointing out Matthias's amazing development over the past year or so... when the trade was originally announced on TSN they said "for a mid level prospect".. then when they found out it was Matthias half of them went 'WHO?'... less than a year later this kids starred in the OHL and at the WJC, and is about to make his NHL debut... BUT i still don't regret the trade... it was a good move at the time, because Matthias was nothing more than a mid level prospect, and really wasn't showing any signs of being anything more. if you look at our prospects, 1/2 of them who had a lot more potential upside than Matthias will never make the NHL with us, i'm not entirely sure that Matthias would ever play for us, even if he wasn't traded. I'll take a proven NHL'er who could make a major difference (albeit he didn't) over a unproven prospect who just MIGHT be a good player down the line anyday...

well, he certainly wouldn't be [playing in the NHL yet... if he was still in the Wings system it'd be what 3 or 4 years probably before he saw NHL action at least.

we spent the whole pre season worrying if our top 6 was deep enough, and now we find out we've got a top 8! Dats, Z, Homer, Bear, Flip, Rex, Sammy and Mule are all legitimate top 6 guys...who would have ever guessed that.. i just figure they're all interchangable, and pretty much anything's going to work atm, especially since they can all take faceoffs / play centre and play wing down to the last man...

i think it's god a lot to do with 20 players each and every night (bar a few weird nights), that work their butt off. i've never seen fowards track back the way these guys do... we have by far the best defensive system in the league.
