Since i live 1/2 a world away and never get to see live hockey, i was wondering how close our foward prospects are. looking at the list we've got signed Ryno Mursak Helm Emmerton McGrath and Ritola and we've also got Abdelkader.. any of them close to coming at least to GR this year? i feel we might need them sooner than later?

obvsiouly you missed the sarcarm..or the tongue in cheek of it..or the blatant bulls*** i can see a 1st round loss, i can also see us winning the cup.. remember that Andy Murray had a damn good team in LA for years and couldn't do anything with them. their great run when murry came was ok, but it was only just about 500 hockey. columbus doesn't have the defense, nashville morgaged their future and got another 1st round loss and chicago...we'll they've just signed Robert Lang, what more is there to say. if we lose more than 3 games against central allo year i'll be amazed. we need to work out how to win on the west coast, becasue it's gonig to be teams like anaheim. san jose, vancouver and calgary that we'll have to get through next year

another D isn't essential.. i didn't even think the rafalski signing was essential, or necessary.. we're incredibly deep in D considering Lidstrom Kronwall Chelios Lebda Lilja QUincy Meech Ericsson Kindl add to that Rafalski now.. we really don;t need another defenseman.. but yes..crazy dom is a must, as is some forward ability. at this stage if Dats and Zett go down, we are UTTERLY f***ed with our current crop of fowards. And who do we have in depth.. Hudler might not come back. Grigenko unproven and a rook to boot. Ellis? - he's a grinder Bootland? - bah... Mursak, Helm and Emmerton arn't ready yet... it's ugly out there folks... i'm not saying we should have signed Bertuzzi or Calder, because they were both busts, but a couple of non touted FA's would have been nice. Nagy, or Handzuz maybe. I would have liked Owen Nolan, but he's gone to Calgary. i'm just worried that were going to be relying on a 42 year old goal tender and defense to carry us this year, and...hmm...well boring hockey much? the wings bored the pants off me last year, and they get even more defensive i'll go stark raving mad. not duck supporting mad though

at the end of the day does the # really matter? chelios has worn three different numbers with three different teams. i'm sure rafalski will be happy not to have the number. i'm sure kopecky doesn't give a s*** either

i'd be amazed if Kindl didn't spent the season in GR..unless he REALLY impresses.. our forward depth worries the hell out of me.. sammy on the 1st line??? come on...that thought alone makes me cringe

yeah..central is going to be insanely easy this year. it's not exactly a good thing.. only time we've had a decent fight for the division in the last few years was last year and we reached the conference final. i could easily see another 1st round loss

i agree that the players we let go wern't much more than dead weight, but we still need something. i'm just not comfortable with the idea of having... well Homer - Z - Samuelsson Franzen - Datsyuk - Grigenko Cleary - Draper - Maltby Kopeky - Flippula - ? we need to sign Hudler, it's not as if we don't have the cap space now and another fa. preferably someone without hands of stone. have the rangers signed sean avery yet? maybe we could do an offer sheet for him. he wouldn't cost much as he was undrafted

thrashers are soooo missing the playoffs next year.. lost all their draft picks for rentals, and couldn't hang on...now they're signing poor bit part players i like the caps for the south east next year.

given the weakness of the central this year, do we even need to turn up in the regular season? should we just book our #1 seed again and just turn up with a healthy team at the playoffs? yep...we play the north east away and the south at home.. no matchup this year with the atlantic

it's kinda odd as well, considering how much lombardi f***ed up the draft.. 4th overall pick and they pick a 2nd rounder. weird. lombardi's always been more of a draft guy than signing the big f/a's...

we need him back.. NEED! this team officially sucks without Jiri Hudler.. i'm kinda serious though. He had a good first season. He's got better every year. i'd love to see him play on a line with Dats and Grigs. He'd score 50 goals on that line.

i imagine they're looking for a 500k guy to be #7 D so that chelly can have some time off and quincey, meech, ericsson and kindl can get major time in GR..just a guess, altough i don't think it's necessary.. but maybe i have too much faith in the young guys..i would have liked our defense without rafalski
