i don't honestly see any tryouts coming.. we've got log jams all over the place, unlike in previous years

If we lose in the Finals, is '08-'09 season a failure?

thats every team though.. were the best team in the NHL. so by that reckoning not winning the cup will be a failure, which i don't necessarily believe -

no.. i'd be bitterly dissapointed though... i'd consider the season a failure if we didn't make the conference finals, but you can't really consider a final 4 position a failure -
we sures thats a 2002 pic? i know it says 2002 on it but did he ever come over for T/C's before hand? it's just that he looks really really young in that pic

last seasons prices are only till something like august 4th though i believe
-
why does he need our support? maybe he should pay his ******* bills on time

no.. we lost to the ducks because we had Schenider and Kronwall out and Lilja playing top 4 minutes. Not to mention our second line at the time consited of Robert Lang, Todd Bertizzi and Kyle freaking Calder. Don't forget that we were seconds away from taking a real stranglehold on that series. intensity and grit isn't a problem for us, even without Drake and i think the Wings have shown before that they're not just anothe team. They would have likely repeated in 2003 if it wasn't for the Stay Puft Marshmallow man in goal for the ducks. it would be utterly retarded to count us our just because we don't have Dallas Drake in our lineup anymore. May i remind you that during the regular season Kopecky actually outhit Drake, even though he had less ice time.

wonderful another thread turns into a trade Hudler and Sammy thread... this board can suck beyond belief sometimes... it wouldn't suprise me if Kocur became video coach. He still lives in the area as far as i'm aware. It weird how Holland had no trouble at all signing players like Hossa and Rafalski, yet seems to struggle to sign the lower end free agents. Hudler took ages last year. Williams went to arbitration, and now Flip taking an age...

i'd have to agree with that.. Don't rule out Leino though, he's a major unknown at the moment.. and theres no way Babcock plays that 2nd line. you don't put a 100 point player with guys who had 30 assists between them this year.. look for Dats and Hank to be #1, #2 centres.. i'd expect opening night to look Flip - Z - Homer Mule - Dats - Hossa Bear - Draper - Sammy Rex - Kopecky(Helm) - Maltby though i'm often completely wrong about this.. also look for Kronwall to go down with a 6 month injury in the pre-season - i just have one of those feelings.

DP and Okoposo are worthwile, and they made out VERY well at this years draft, but they're a basement team for the next few years no doubt. they need that new arena more badly than we do

idiots.. LA should snap him up pronto
-
he's going to be a great player.. good move by the hawks
-
yeah thats Eddie O for you... sounds like he's going to cry whenever Detroit score, how the hell NBC hire a color guy who was a former Pen and Blackhawk for the SC Finals i'll never know. Hello conflict of interest

a lot is made of the Wings scouting, but their player development is second to none. Since we've actually been keeping out picks we've developed some pretty incredible talent.. we all know about out log jam on defense, but were starting to get one on forwards now too with Emmerton, Mursak etc all turning pro, and pretty much all of our talent is developed by us given a few exceptions.. i doubt any team in the league can match us for this, especially considering we also have no trouble at all attracting free agents.. now we've also got 3 very promising goalie prospects as well... things are good

i'm 99% sure Verbeek retired befoe that season ok...he wasn't retired, but he was with the Stars that year
-
for the moment yes, he's considered a cup winner.. but if he ever goes to the HHOF it's only considered names on the cup as 'cup winners'.. hence why you'd never call Sean Avery a Stanley Cup Winner, but he was with the team throught the 2002 run, never playing though.

Anaheim piss me off way more than any other team

EPIC FAIL THREAD
-
apart from Radolov they're all borderline or old players... nothing to worry about, yet
-
i think it's similar to the USHL, but no players from the NAHL were drafted in 2008, 2 were drafted in 2007 though (6th and 7th round though(

i'm sure they understand nothings given to them automatically, they've known that for a while.
-
if you mean Fischer, he the director or player development for the Wings. no news of any return though, i doubt they'll ever be any
