I can see Big Snake getting a contract to play with GR... however, possibly making it to the wings' in the future is something that i cant really see
-
if vancouver wants arnason, they can have him... thats just one more wing killer off the red wings list for one of our 8 meetings with chicago this year
-
bottom line... unless ozzie or manny get hurt, he will be in GR and even if he is called up, he won't play a whole lot
-
he will be in grand rapids for a while barring 2 conditions... the wings defense becomes severely depleted in the next two years, or quincy breaks out like kronwall did in GR
-
this is a good signing if it's true... thomas is a seasoned vet... who will provide depth and good leadership for all of our youth this year... as for GRIGORENKO... he would've been here one or two years ago if not for the accident... he is back to where he was before it and the wings just want to see if he will be worth the investment by allowing to see if he is capable of further evelopment.

Hamrlik could find a home today!?
p_diddy_datsyuk_13 replied to ProfessorLidstrom5's topic in General
it will probably be one of those teams that has done a bit of spending this offseason already, or one that has a lot of cap room -
considering leclairs decline in production, and age he might be faitly cheap... 2-3 million per year
-
bombardier or simpson would work.... but the wings also need a winger... they need a scorer to play with datsyuk... if they can get selanne at a cheap price that would be best, but probably far fetched...

Red Wings first tough guy invite to camp...

His offensive numbers in juniors were not bad tho either -
TSN says this is 'very close' to happening

Datsyuk... for these reasons: 1. Has said all along #1 priority is to stay in Detroit... Thornton's #1 priority is not a city or a team, but rather his personal material possessions. 2. Datsyuk is a team player and wants to win... Thornton is a selfish superstar with an overinflated ego. 3. Datsyuk knows what it takes to win and has experienced it and would take it before the money... Thornton could care less about Stanley Cups, he's in hockey for the money, in which case he chose the wrong sport.

Mcgrath had a solid year for kitchener of the OHL... and i believe has another year of eligability in the OHL... when his time there is up, unless he proves himself to be a bonafied scorer, he will likely spend a year in Grand rapids to ease the transition to pro hockey... remember, he was a third of fourth round pick, and most of the middle rounders, unless they break out in juniors right away, spend a year or two in the minors first... one example is zetterberg, we took him as a middle of the pack guy on draft day (fourth round) and we left him in sweden long enough for him to take his skills to the next level and now hes just a step away from joining the NHL's elite!!

RWC: 'None of the four had great years'
p_diddy_datsyuk_13 replied to RyanBarnes!'s topic in General
the wings are giving up on robinson (they non-tendered him), and i believe the situation is the same for groulx, but bootland and kopecky are each getting another year or two... this is just rediculous because robinson prolly has the most potential out of all of them... bootland is no better than a grinder/ tough guy/ Kopecky has not shown the slightest bit of potential since coming over from sweden, and groulx didnt have a great year himself... letting robinson go might have been a mistake!! -
kronwall is there... we know we need to sogn him.... just waiting to make more progress with dats and zetts... and by the way, you people have way too much time on your hands if you're arguing about thread topics and categories... later losers

More Eklund: Wings in Bondra, Hamrlik talks?
p_diddy_datsyuk_13 replied to phantom5251's topic in General
adding bondra would be a big addition... but again the cap isn't giving us much room... even at 1-1.5 million dollars, we would be tied down... even with other players to sign -
he is finally back where he was before the accident... which means they want him to have one more year in russia.
-
an intriging bit of info, but unless the wings can clear out some payroll in this aquisition, i dont see it happening
-
the leafs can sign all the washed up players they want... theyre only screwing themselves over in the cap department and besides, theyre in the other conference
-
first... stumpel's a center second... he won't score more than 10 goals a season (in an average season) third... he's more of a setup man... his best numbers like a couple years ago had 50 assists playing on the #1 line with palffy in LA... if he's not with a prolific scorer he wont even get the assists... he cant really create the plays but if someone else can finish them he'll get the puck to them
-
The wings, despite the need to begin developing top end talent, seem pretty adament about allowing Igor to brew in russia for another year and continue to develop and get back to where he was before this whole series of events happened. I would love to see him asap, but when we will see him is anotherstory. Ideally bringing him over now would likely allow him to get a lot more ice time instead of later when some of these other young guns may have proven themselves.
