Fooking 11AM! I'm gonna have to leave Friday nite to get there in time!

Um, this looks like just another filler piece - 'we have the internets so we must put stuff out there.' Kinda like Fox News. Woods toughest? C'mon the guy hits a golfball for a living (and what a living he makes thanks to all who watch based on advertising expenditures). I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to be the best at it, but not what I'd call tough.

Fairest of All Fair Maidens will need a head count plz - she's baking a cake and summin else healthy!

I’d prefer the term ‘most senior’. And because of such, I’m going to indulge myself and (semi) hijack this. ‘I’ve forgotten more than I remember….’. And yet to remember the Wings is to also to remember Detroit: - I remember my first trip to Olympia was not to see the Wings, but to see the Beatles (and tho our illustrious MissVlad here probably owns the most er, ‘robust’ set of lungs for the estrogen set, I still believe my hearing was permanently damaged that day due to all the screaming.) My first Wings game would not come until the following year (year not provided to protect the innocent). - I remember the riots – my grandfather owned a jewelry store (down on Cass I believe). His neighbor who owned a cheese stop was situated on the roof with weaponry. - I remember the Tigers winning the World Series the following year. Since I’ve now been in the sun too long, I do not know if this is still true but there is nothing, I mean absolutely nothing like a winning sports team in a blue-collar town to give everyone a rallying point. And it was sorely needed then. - I remember watching Gordie and Alex and Crozier. - I remember the Mahovlich trade that also brought over Gary Unger (note to Frasier: perfect hair that actually moved!). - I remember the Mahovlich trade (other way) that brought us GlutenBoy which may be why to some minute extent why I harbor some ‘ill will’ (tho if he would just come outta the 70s a bit….). - I remember when Jerry Louis Arena first opened – so called because it was funny in a train wreck kinda way watching everyone wipe out in their first venture onto the icy steps. Isn’t it now the oldest active arena in the NHL? - I remember Stevie on daft day – no live coverage but I think Al Ackerman had some footage (and I was on At The Zoo with Sonny Elliot, but I’m still trying to forget that as I almost fell into the lions den). - I remember the lean years – from the looks of this thread, some will and some wont. And there were many. But, as tough as it is to be a fan when your team is losing (see Lions), they always entertained. At least I wanted them to. So they did. - I remember the sweeps – all four of them (I still consider ’02 a sweep – in retrospect of course!). 1995 was devastating. The others were redemption of sorts. - I remember the F*%&-up on Figueroa - Stumpel and Game 4. I still cringe to this day whenever I hear his name. - I don’t remember the topic of this thread….. But the most satisfying thing I have ever ‘felt’ as a Wings fan over all these years, is being able to watch the fairest of all fair maidens become a fan. She probably is a ‘bigger’ fan than me (if one can measure such). She really didn’t pay much attention to the game prior to our meeting, and now she can name every starting goalie and backup in the league (scary huh?). Being able to share your passion with someone who has come to enjoy it as much as (if not more than) you is just flat out fun! And gratifying. And one of the umpteenth definitions of love.

You know, he does that on almost every show due to the circumstances (tho I think their causalities were down for the past few weeks). At first I found it just a tad sanctimonious. And now, I choke up watching this. 'Just a beautiful boy - look at him.' I applaud Grapes - most his wack notwithstanding, he has garnered my respect. He acknowledges the sacrifices compatriots have made for his freedom. And I live in the Colonies where the gov't bans photos of returning casualties, let alone acknowledging them.

And exactly how much assembly does the poster require? Do they give you enuf of those lil wooden dowels?

Well, if we're planning on having Stuart back, then it prolly comes down to the playoffs a la Manny - dont produce and ur a goner (Shane - COME BACK!). Pylon is a waste of oxygen. Brings nuttin to the table other than a big body with questionable motor skills (and even less hockey skills). Lebda is our fastest skater and a joy to watch going end to end with the puck (yeah, I know - not necessiarly what you want from a Dman but hey, take what you've got). He's got a sniper shot and would flourish if used on the PP point instead of Sammy. The team currently consists of extreme talent, some potential, and blatant medocrity. At some point, the coach needs to take responsability (but plz, dont tell the Sens that OK?).

Yep, its one of those exclusivity deals like on VS - when its on the NHL Network (US), its nowhere else. Sux for dish subs cuz they only carry the NHL Network in HD - no SD feed. It is on bev CI tho - the FSN feed.

You're ******* insane. You want me to be happy that we've only taken summin like 4 outta 24 points so we can get a cushy playoff seed? Go watch basketbal and leave hockey to real men (and women) who actually care if our team wins.

I didn't see 'starbux' anywhere in there - I wanna think Poofdah is more a Tim Horton kinda guy. DO IT - DO IT - DO IT!

Matt, I was only on till about 8AM PST when I glued myself in front of the TV and was switching b/t TSN, Sporstnet and The Score (and The Score really sucked. Sportsnet wasn't terrible but turned into a luvfest when Doug MacLean was weeping with Foote. TSN was the best as always - half the fun is watching Drager and BooB MaC frantically scrolling thru their Crackberrys! And Ferguson was a hoot - he and Milbury were talking about the deadline trade they did when Ozzie went to STL - Ferg wanted Burke from PHX but they wanted Jackman and that's how Oz ended up in STL). For me, the site was painfully slow during the early hours and at times pages would not load (hey, at least you didn't route thru the Paki ANS ala YouTube!). Again, I wasn't around during the crunch. I realize you can only do so much in anticipation of an onslaught and you obviously had your hands tied on this one.

Sorry but as usual, you're all wrong. I didn't watch the clip but I surmise its the slamdunk or something. These guys have probably been doing that since they were kids on the playground. And probaly have been working on their 'choreography' of such since then. I may be wrong but I don't think Dats 'practices' most of his moves - I like to think that they're instinctal to him. Why ask players to do something thats foreign to them by asking them to be 'xtra fancy' or summin - just have a shootout and leave it at that. If you want a game that has clowns that seem to pride the individualist over teams, then basketball is your game. But stop trying to make hockey into another sport. Teams are making money - some more than others. Fans showup for winning teams just like in any sport. Hockey is a sport that rewards teamwork and skill probaly more than any other sport (and I also have no problems with ties, but again I'm an elitist). Perhaps its a generational thing as I'm older than Cheli (but younger than Scotty). I find the sport quite entertaining. Watched PHX- LA last night and its a treat watching a team starting to gel like PHX. They played with passion (and some grit too) like a team starting to figure each other out - not unlike us in the early 90s. Gretz is figuring out how to coach also. But then again, I like to watch sunsets and take long walks on the beach so as always, your mileage may vary.

‘Yes gentlemen I believe Philly is the right place for each of you to explore that type of deep bonding with your ancestral lineage. Oh, and all your mamas say ‘Hi’.

CGY-PHX Man, with the screaming crowd in CGY this was one exciting game! Iginla and Jovo went at it in the 1st and then CGY comes back from 0-3 to win in the SO. Iginla had (shoot me for saying this cuz this cliche can be retired) a Gordie hat trick too! Been watching alot of PHX and Mueller is a stud - watch this kid as he'll be around for awhile if Gretz doesnt screw him up. PHX is still a tad streaky which I think is fueled by Gretz's unbridled emotion, which is both good and bad. Could be a game that devistates them. We'll see.

For the first time in a long time, I really think we're pretty solid and dont need to make much of an adjustment if any to augment a playoff roster. Granted that April is the second season and not much counts till then, but I'm 'comfortabale' that the current bunch can take us as deep as they can (assuming they show up every nite). Matts, Floppa, whomever - sure, we're always lacking a tad in 'grit' (not that those two are gritty) but gosh darn, we lead in a plethora of offensive and defensive stats, not to mention the host of candidates for post-season awards (Norris, Selke (which for the past 18 months I think should have gone to Hank tho now the case is being made for Dats), split the Vezina (hehe), take ur pick for Hart, and the Lady Byng (tho 2 penalities in the same period last nite may skew Dats' chances). I know you always want to see you roster made better, but (with the sounds of Mavis Staples singing 'I'll Take You There' in the background - listen up Wings Marketing Dept - no lameass slogans this year - 'think' of a good one!), what we have should get us deep into May. It's almost like I'm gonna be watching the ticker and will probaly cringe if we actually make a trade. Course then I'm sure I'll be here singing its praises (and lamenting on whom we traded for has the potential to be lazy and sucky.....).
