I was (the only) fan of Gonchar a few years back when he was available - at the time he seemed like the best fit - a skilled, unobtrusive D-man. Well, it apeears those days are over - this is who we need now Souray I doubt MON is gonna deal him while they still think they have a chance. He's having his best year ever - played in every game! All his stats are decent with maybe the exception of +/- but c'mon - it is MON. Kenneth needs to go to Pavel and say 'look, take a lil less and we'll get this big 6'4'' lug to throw out there.' With Krommie under-achiving (or all of us over-estimating), Chelli on his last leg (still), Schneids Is Lackadaisical And His Play is Suspect (â„¢ PENDING) all but history, Pylon all but vaporized, the only D-man I see other than the C over the long term is Lebda. So let's get Souray - had least when he shoots from the point he'll probaly hit the net more often than #23 - I mean, he couldn't be any worse!

Uh huh. And you've watched Schneids correct? Dunno what it is with him, but he hasn't been the same since he's come back. 'But look at his assist totals'. Plueeeeeze - Anna Nichole could get an assist on that PP with Hank and Pavel and Thomas. TG they installed netting above the nets cuz his shots of late from the point woulda taken out a few in rows 15-20. He couldn't hit the net if it was empty! Souray is having his career year and he's 31 YO - healthy as a horse and decent numbers. 'His ineptitude in his own defensive zone is legendary and universally agreed-upon' - yeah and so is Lang's offensive skills (except when he shows up in the playoffs) - your 'universe' is just a tad smaller than mine I guess. His D skills are not gonna make anyone forget Nick, but they'll make you forget about Schneids turnovers in about a week. EDIT: FYI for reference, they both have about 1 GvA a game but Souray has almost 4 times as many TkA. They both have about the same number of hits but Souray has almost twice as many BkS - so in my mind its a D upgrade.

The NFL is so popular because of gambling, nearly naked cheerleaders ... and it is 99.9-percent American. These footballers are Americans who grew up loving and watching the NFL as kids. It's one reason the NHL is so popular in Canada. Canada loves Saku Koivu, Mats Sundin and Markus Naslund, but they really love Ryan Smyth. The NHL is mostly Canadian, and Canadian fans have watched and read about these players since they were bantams.' And I commented that baseball is 'not 99.9 percent' Amerikan and yet has a huge following here in the Colonies. In a team sport if you field an exicting team, the individual players nationality shouldn't matter. And I dont believe it does. You dont think Carolina fans were on their feet screaming for the likes of Brind'Amour and Stall and Stillman and Whitney and Ward? Do you think they cared that those players were not of Amerikan descent? Xenophobic? Nah, he doesnt appear to have a fear of non-Amerikans. Isolationist? Nationalist? Nope, just a hack writer for even making that statement. That was my point.

Um, who is the respected writer here? This guy is such a hack - I think you all swoon over him for the same myopic reason he touts - he's Amerikan! Go over to the Toronto Sun if you wanna read good writing. And face it - ask any Amerikan if they know anything about hockey and I'm sure the majority who are not fans will mumble Gretz - gasp, a Kanadian! And isnt baseball like 30% Latino? Amerikans like their teams - plain and simple. Put a good team out there, market it as a team and they will come. We're probably gonna wus out and light kandles for the Queens to get the eigth seed so we can see them at the Stapler in April\May. I gotta werk and it takes us like a day and a half to git to the PondScum from here (which will probably be aptly named that day cuz I here its gonna monsoon over here...) ITISAD can git there faster from SD than we can from 'God's Country' (God, its far!) Now if SW shows than I'm really a wus cuz he's like 10 miles from me!

Actually (and keep this a secret), the games are just a bonus here - we really all grt together just to worship at the alter of the RGDT!!!

OK, the first of Olympic filler for the next couple of weeks.... After hearing about the plethora of big burly hockey players and their groins, its kinda funny to see her sitting up there talking about hers...... Kwan has crashed thru the glass ceiling of groins!

To recap for all who missed - WE HAD A BLAST! It's a tossup as to MissVlad's greatest asset - her lungs or her cooking! At one point we had to tell her to 'back away from the fryer' cuz we were up to our arse in delicious buffalo (Red) wingz! FUF and ShockWave made it, as well as an assorted cast from MissVlad's stable of relatives and friends. Good food, good drink, good fans and a fairly decent game to entertain us (tho she slipped in a Kingz ringer who fought me for TV time b/t the Kingz and the Jrs during intermissions!). All in all, a splendid time was had by all! Thx again sweetie for putting it all together!!!!

If you traspose the two names in the topic.... And actually, the father-son thang is gonna be part of Hockey Day in Canada - that 13 hour or so Canadian luv fest about hockey. It's been entertaining from time-to-time just to watch Grapes almost wipeou on some frozen pond somewhere. But frankly, I can only take so much of the human interets stories that eminate each year from the banks of nowhere: 'Lil Claude started skating out on the pond when he was 3YO. As he grew, his father would drive him to the rinks at 3AM....' But I still will put it on as background noise - some of the stuff is fun - and you cant beat all the Canadian teams playing each other on this day.

And my friends (well, if I had any) call me Howard MassConsumption!
