  1. Always thought Nash underachieved based on the personnel around him. He could make a huge impact on the league in the right situation.

No way tho to move Smith. We're gonna need all the D we can find.

  2. The cop out woulda been just to swap Detroit and Winnipeg. Drastically realigning the entire NHL was the hardest thing for them to do.

Not really. Since they had to move WPG now (so they said - I mean, we've been traveling Left forever. So make WPG go South for a bit), this also gives them options for when (gasp!) PHX may move. Since PHX will currently be in a Conf\Div with 8 teams, all they'd have to do is move the new QBC\ONT franchise to one of the Conf\Div currently with 7 teams.

Biteman was 'proactive' for the first time in his career. PHX was the real reason for this, not WPG.

  3. I've been auto-subscribed for Center Ice the past 7 seasons and have always gotten most all the HD feeds, but the last couple Wings games it states I'm "not subscribed" when I went to the channel. Now I'm extremely confused because when I flipped on the TBL-NSH game last night, and I did in fact get the HD feed.

The only thing I can think of is that the HD feed started momentarily after the standard feed and that was the moment I turned it on. Not likely, but that could be the reason why it stated such.

    Oh well, we'll see tonight.

You need to reauthorize your receivers - you can do it online. They had some issues on some subs when they shutdown the free preview. Had the same issue and this took care of it.

  4. Spot on post.

Last season I made the switch from DISH to DirecTV because of the issues with FOX.

Yes - standard def games were broadcast via Center Ice, but as we all know there's no substitution for HD.

I'll stick with DirecTV; I'm certain a deal will be worked out within a few weeks...All I can say is that Center Ice via DirecTV is much better than Center Ice via DISH.

Yep I also switched last year like two weeks into the season - think Dish settled like 2 days later.

Was a good move (at the time) when I found out that Dish had a lot fewer HD games at the time since a host of their FSN HD feeds were just 'part-time feeds'.

  5. So no one has any info on what this will do to Center Ice subscribers?

Either way, this just sucks if they pull all their channels. Not only am I mostly concerned about losing Red Wings games (via my paid Center Ice subscription), but I watch their affiliates programs a ton! I love "The League" and "Sons of Anarchy" both on FX, not to mention the movies they put on their networks. This would suck.

And I'm not going back to Time Warner because those losers not only don't have NHL and NFL network, but they don't broadcast Center Ice in HD.

OK here's the deal if I remember correctly from when this was an issue with Dish.

The NHL provides the feed for CI. They generally provide just the SD feed and its at the 'discretion' of the individual providers (DTV) to post the HD feed if they have it. Which is why you see most of the games in HD on DTV as they have the FSN HD feed in their lineup (and which is why some games on US feeds are not HD - think someone mentioned Comcast PHI). So if DTV pulls the FSNs, you'll still get the SD feeds from the FSNs on CI but no HD.

    Clear as mud?

  6. Great - here we go again. Bit more severe that just pulling VS.....

'DirecTV Might Drop Fox Cable Channels'

Fox says that DirecTV is threatening to pull the plug on its national and regional cable networks on Nov. 1 unless a new carriage fee agreement can be reached....

..The networks affected include FX, National Geographic Channel, Speed, Fuel TV, Fox Soccer, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox Movie Channel, Fox Deportes and the 19 Fox regional sports networks.'

  7. Cut em some slack - its entertainment. They're looking for something to call their own. Sure it's a takeoff on us but honestly every time someone throws a 'pus on the ice someone has to explain it to someone. And ours is more of a symbolic tradition since it takes more than 8 to win these days anyways.

  8. I'm really weary of the talk about his offensive numbers. Sure they're sexy if you're into that kinda stuff. I really don't want a Mike Green on my team. I'd prefer a D-man who can play D first - offense is secondary IMHO.

Sure he throws up some nice numbers tho I wouldn't call him a 'huge piece of the puzzle'. I always thought he was more suited to NJ where he'd get cattleproded if he went past the neutral zone other than on the PP. Never thought he was the best fit for us.

    And that's my diplomatic response.
