You don't have to look back very far to see this is not always the case. Although i will agree it is much harder to make the playoffs if you have a poor start. St.Louis was in the basement of the Western Conference for much of the first three quarters of the last season and finished in 6th place. Phoenix was in a playoff spot last season at the allstar break and finished well outside the top 8. Ottawa is prime example that great starts don't mean all that much come April.

They will look dumb if they lose Toews and Keith because of it. Hossa underachieves in the playoffs more often then not and Campbell was the team wiping boy last year for his defensive blunders. They will not win the Cup this season unless they pull of a trade to get a better goaltender, you can't win a championship with Huet in net and if i'm wrong i will gladly eat my own words.

The Hawks are so screwed they will lose at least one of the three big free agents. The Campbell and Hossa deals are looking really dumb right now, not to mention having to keep Huet and let Khabibulin walk. I could see them potentially losing both Toews and Keith, they will have to move a bunch of salary to keep Kane and either Toews or keith. The question is who do they let walk? As good as he is I would let Keith walk. I think Toews has a good shot of becoming a superstar in this league and they can't let Kane go.

I live in BC and i have center ice this year, but i'm wondering what the deal is with FSND. There's no mention of them on the NHL.com website's Detroit's schedule. I'm wondering if anyone knows how many of Detroit's games they will be picking up this year?

I've got NHL Center ICE through shaw in British Columbia. I'm not getting the Detroit game tonight even though it is on FSD. I was wondering if anyone knows why I wouldn't get it? And also am I not going to get all of the Wings games that are only broadcast on FSD this season? If that's the case I want my money back because there's a lot of games that are only on FSD.

It's unfortunete that he seems to be in the same situation here as he was in TO. In fact here he might not get called up at all, we simply have to many guys ahead of him on the depth chart. Still if he keeps scoring goals, it will be hard to ignore him.

I really hope i'm having a nightmare right now. This guy is nothing but trouble on and off the ice and he hasn't been the same offensively since the whole Moore thing. He's not going to put up anymore the 50 points and for me that's just not worth the risk. We already have one of the best up and coming power forwards in the game in Franzen and Holmstrom is still doing his thing too. I just don't get this one, it's like we're trying to relive past mistakes this summer, first Williams and now this disaster. God help us.

If he's willing to try and win a Cup for the right price i would take Sundin.

Sykora is very streaky scorer, he might play well with Hank or Pavel for stretchs. He has limited upside though.

Jeremy Williams has a lot of upside, but is oftenly injured. I still can't figure why the Leafs sent him back down so many times, he put up good numbers pretty much every time he was called up.

Same here, I'm wondering if he's going to be like most Russian players and disappear come crunch time or will we see the same guy that loves to hit people and score lots of goals. Time will tell.

Yeah total BS man. It seems to me that marquee players like Phaneuf get way to much leniency on the questionable conduct on the ice. I know it's not a fair world but it's getting a little ridiculus already.
