awesome.. I was at games 1 and 5 (the 81 save exhibition Dahm put on) and lets just say if it wasnt for Dahm that would have ended in a sweep.. Now its on to the Memorial cup to see if an OHL team can actually compete (doubtful with the travel these kids face and the fact that Victoriaville has been resting and Medicine Hat and Vancouver do not have far to go)..

the was the Vanek goal.. the Roy goal was clearly a snap shot after a long scramble.. my only thought is that maybe the whistle was blown during the melee..

Can you imagine if the Heatley line had Holmstrom on it!!?? The Wings had a Heatley in 97-00.. His name was Brendan Shanahan before he got old and quit hitting.. I saw the Vanek goal that was waived off (BS in my opinion).. What happened with the Roy goal in the first 2 minutes? I saw it go to review, got up to go to the bathroom and came back to see the Vanek goal get waived.. any explanation with Roys goal?

The problem is that this looks EXACTLY like 2004 and 2006.. The Wings looked great in game one last year and then got COMPLETELY man handled by EDM.. except for the last 7 minutes I didn't see anything that made me believe the wings can turn this around this weekend.. They are getting no room at all to maneuver on the PP.. Games 1 and 2 DET was playing well defensively, making smart decisions, hitting and skating.. Now it looks like they are right back to making the pretty play or rifling shots from the blue line.. too much standing around and not enough reacting.. Flames in 6.

I would love a trade for Ryan Smyth if you gave EDM Datsyuk.. Smyth= gritty proven scorer.. Datsyuk= Kozlov clone..
-
I honestly saw that coming a couple weeks ago ( I have the email to my buddy to prove it).. it made sense.. the Sens were having issues signing Hossa and Heatley was damaged goods in ATL (after the wreck).. good trade for both sides -- ATL gets a defense man too which they need..

its entry level according the the GR press release, so I would assume he will start in GR..

thats people who have been around the game a long time like to talk about

thats the problem.. the wings brought him here to play defense on a Norris type level.. not drop the gloves.. hell if he could play d he might still be here

We don't have the luxury of signing every player we want to. That is why we now have a salary cap. We need to get the best players that price will allow. The most important thing to do is re-sign our players. Dats for $3M hopefully, Hank for $2, and Kronwall for $850,000. We have to leave that and about another $1M for a little breathing room under the cap. That all means we can't go crazy signing people and have to be smart about it. We take who we can that fits under the cap. Best players for what we NEED: Brad Brown Todd Simpson Not another soft, puck moving d-man Brad Brown http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/player_bio.asp...id=175&hubName= Assets Plays an intimidating game from the back end, and can also drop the gloves at will. Has excellent leadership qualities. Flaws Lacks foot speed and has trouble going up against shifty forwards in the NHL. Has not developed his defensive game as well as expected. Career potential No. 6 or 7 defenseman. Total NHL 330 2 27 29 -16 747 108 1.85 Sounds like a winner sounds like a defensive liability that would NEVER crack the wings line up..

and tell me again what EXACTLY Hatcher did for the Wings?

settle down there tough guy.. McCarty would be the first to admit he cant skate a lick.. read his book.. Kocur? come on.. if your going to argue my point use some hard hitters that CAN skate (LaPointe, Avery, Brashear) I never said this was a HUGE signing.. all I AM saying is that you need to be careful when you are looking for hitters and physical players now.. the NHL is doing everything they can to de-value the one dimensional player (which, IMO is how it should be.. weed out the 'hangers on')

toughness for what? what most call toughness I call a hack that cant skate and hooks and holds all the way up the ice (or hooks and holds in the corners in the case of a defenseman).. supposedly the NEW NHL will put a premium on quick teams that can pass and skate.. with that in mind, why get a "tough" guy that will be a healthy scratch in the playoffs?

A Delmore was a stud for a season or 2 in PHI.. I remember him in the playoffs in the early 2000's.. obviously he has been shipped around a bit, but I think he is a solid D-man.. as far as Eklund, 9 times out of 10 when he says a deal is done it is.. what every one tends to forget is that he is just reporting as he hears things... none of it is intended to be taken as fact.. if he hears a GM say 'hey, we have been talking to Kariyas agent' he is going to report so and so is looking at Kariya.. I think its cool to hear which teams are talking to which players.. who cares if it ends up not to pan out.. at least we get to hear about it!!

for Hossa.. Hossa just filed for arbitration.. also talk of the wings STILL shopping for another GT.. makes sense since there back up makes more than 1 mill..
