    Hull Scores Off Glass

Yeah, it's on Rock 'em, Sock 'em 5. Hull banked it off the glass and then you see him say "I told you I could."

    Osgood to Start Fri/Practice notes

I'm not sure you know how the English language works. Grit is an attribute. It can't "do" anything, and to say that it did (it) something is like saying that "his passion kneed him in the groin." No, someone kneed him in the groin. In Samuelsson's case, he gets punched, and it's because he stands next to the net after a shot and players know they can smack him. It's not because he's gritty. He has 18 goals. It's nice, but it doesn't address the fact that his shot is typically high and centered on the logo of the goalie he is shooting toward.

    Osgood to Start Fri/Practice notes

Hitting goalies in the chest does not a good shot make. Grit is not getting punched in the face and angrily pushing someone.

    Osgood to Start Fri/Practice notes

With all his success, the Cup wins, and they playoff experience, I've come full circle. I am glad that Ranford...err....Osgood is getting this chance to screw whilst simultaneously keeping Conklin (our starter) on the bench.

    Playoff Slogan?

Thank God you yelled that and professional hockey players heard you and did it.

    What are the chances

I'd hate a Wings/Blues matchup. Why risk losing a good player to a petty little cheap shot? We all know it would happen, it's the MO of the Blues to do that crap. I'll take Dallas, please. No Zubov, no Morrow, +Ott's guaranteed 2 penalties per game...oh yeah, and Marty "I hate being a goalie" Turco.

    Is Franzen worth 4 Mill?

I know it's silly. I was using that ridiculous contract as an example of how trying to sign Franzen will be hard. Filpulla shouldn't be paid more than $1.8M. At $3M, he's a detriment to keeping Franzen.

3/12 GDT: Flames 6 at Red Wings 5 (SO)

This game is the prime example of why the Wings needed to do something at the deadline. He's a great GM, but I get the feeling we are looking at another 2003. I know that doubting Holland at all is grounds for some to crap their pants, but it's the truth. This team has glaring holes and he failed to address them. Period. I don't care that "things were considered." You can't just sit on your ass because Marian Hossa asked to be on your team in the summer. Ken Holland=great GM who made a big mistake this year. BTW, I'd love to eat crow on this.

    Is Franzen worth 4 Mill?

I'd say if Filppula is worth three, Franzen is worth six. Franzen is a physical presence who can stand in front of the net and has a goal scorer's touch. He's not as good as Filppula defensively, but jeez, I've never seen a player paid more to do less.....well, maybe Yashin....than Filppula. He is being paid purely on potential.

3/7 GDT: Blue Jackets 8 at Red Wings 2

Real Red Wings fans can stop blowing Osgood long enough to realize that it is his fault.

3/7 GDT: Blue Jackets 8 at Red Wings 2

Because he's a washed up piece of crap. It's like a blind squirrel. They find a few nuts here and there, but you know it's over for them.

Thank you Osgood, you ridiculous piece of crap. Please hang yourself.

The Kolzig trade was a salary dump. Burke took on $500k in salary in exchange for a 4th round pick.

This isn't a jump off the bow, but just a simple critique. Generally, I am a fan of Ken Holland, and I think as a GM, he is among the best in the league. However, he failed today. We had the cap space to add a depth player. Now, before anyone says "WAHHHH, when would he play/who would sit/etc," let's consider the fact that injuries happen-- and the depth pool can never be deep enough. What good does cap space do for us after the deadline? None. This team needed at least a small tweak. You can't tell me it wouldn't be more appealing for Anaheim to trade Moen to Detroit than San Jose.

How does this make Pittsburgh a team people don't want to face? Oh god, not a washed-up 16 goal scorer!

Recchi and a 2nd for Lashoff and Karsums. Lashoff? I thought he was pretty much a blue-chipper. Price seems high, but that TAM 2nd will be a high pick.

I hope we are looking at Dominic Moore. $600k salary and 41 points. Good defensive guy as well.

Where is his place? The Wings are pretty deep in net, and Howard hasn't exactly been amazing.

The difference between winner and starter, for goalies, is a big one. If you don't understand that you are foolish. When people speak of Martin Gerber, do they say he won a Cup? No. Cam Ward stood on his head in the playoffs. Gerber was just there. What about Brodeur's backups? Exactly. That's my main point.

Well, I guess Hasek is a 2-time Cup goalie. Oh wait. Most people understand that getting it done in the playoffs is what matters.

The Leopold trade was by design. Apparently, the Flames think that they will have a penalty-shot situation vs. Osgood in the playoffs.

Well then how, pray tell, did the Wings manage to bring up Leino, Ericsson, Helm, etc. when Stuart went down? They basically said "we are saving cap space" with the injuries and they brought them up.
