Did anyone notice the other night when Brickley said "Kronwall learned so much by playing in last year's run to the Western Finals" Really? Because I remember him being out.

You are right...and wrong. I looked over the footage, and yes, at with about 15:14 remaining in the 3rd, keep an eye on Sakic as he attempts to take out FRANZEN's knee. It's painfully obvious. What a little *****. With 15:15 left, you'll see the dump in. From then on, watch the bottom of the screen as Franzen turns up and you'll see an Av come into frame. With about 15:08 left, you'll see the incident. As Franzen turns at the blueline, Sack of s*** does exactly what you said-- he revs up and sticks out the knee.

Well, I got kicked off the Dives message board for implying someone was high-- after he said that the Laperriere hit on Lebda was not as bad as Foote, because, and this is great, Foote is more important to the Avs than Lebda is to the Wings. Anyway, here's my little story. On Sunday, I was at 1876, a restaurant in Denver. Well, who walks in but Peter Forsberg. Of course, those among the diners with mullets went crazy. Some people went out to cars to get stuff for him to sign. Some had sticks, others had pucks, and several had tobacco tins. Anyway, my wife and I were walking out and we walked just past Forsberg. Apparently he thought we were coming over to him, because he turned to sign something. Thinking quickly, I looked and saw he was holding another fan's puck. I said, "Well Peter, I might shake your hand, but seeing as you are holding the puck-- I pretty much know you'd fall to the ground with the slightest touch." Fiction, but funny, if I do say so myself.

Hey guys, Regardless of how he plays in the next few seasons, I think this is truly a post-season that turns an ordinary player into a playoff legend. This year, it's Franzen. I'm not saying he's an all-time great or anything, but what he is doing (if he keeps it up) could go down as one of the greatest post-season performances of all-time. But he's been pretty clutch in the playoffs for several seasons. Consider: Goal that (should have) won Game 6, vs. Edmonton, in 2006 (Thanks Manny) Series winning OT goal vs. Flames, 2007 Crucial Game 5 goal vs. Nashville Carrying the Wings vs. Colorado in Games 1 & 2 What does everyone think? Could Johan's playoffs go down as one of the all-time greatest? (You don't mess with Johan)

I love how the vs. announcers jumped right to "well, you can see what a difference Forsberg makes. He plays, they beat Minnesota, he doesn't....you can see what happens." Sure. I guess I forgot that Peter Forsberg was a magical entity who scored, played decent defence, and was an awesome starting goalie.

I've been discussing this very thing with my wife for a long time. Emrick is terrible. He is obnoxious sounding and gets caught up in his own overused cliches. For instance, just count the number of times he says "waffleboarded away." His shrill voice annoys me too. Eddie "O" is just dense. Really Eddie, the Russian word for shoot is "Bretzi"? Thanks, seeing as you say it whenever a Russian scores a goal. That doesn't make you bilingual, just repetitive. Jones is OK. He takes himself too seriously and throws out simple stuff. I guess the thing that annoys me most about the Vs./NBC teams is their sheer joy if the Wings stumble. Listen to a broadcast-- it's never "The Wings are playing a great game," it's always, "Team B has to do this to win. They can do it, the Wings are doing this..." Bob Cole and Harry Neale any day, after Ken and Bingo-Bango.

I don't know about you guys, but I think JP Dumont has been the most consistent contributor for the Wings. Great pass to Kronwall to spring Franzen. Edit: I thought Rafalski made that pass...but the score sheet says Kronwall.

Eklund may be an idiot 80% of the time, but he does occasionally hit a story. He reported the Brad Richards deal about an hour before TSN did.

I just think it's another example of how players misidentification has hurt the game. For instance-- Tootoo probably thinks of himself as a tough S-O-B, but in reality, how long would he have lasted in the Probert-Kocur era? Not ten minutes. The instigator rule and Gary Bettman's "new NHL" have created this-- the little s*** who runs around and never answers the bell. I mean, Tootoo has to know that he can do this type of thing. He gets what, 10 minutes of ice a game, if he's lucky? He knows that he's probably the least talented guy out there between any two teams on any given night (even enforcers have some value), and he knows that if someone does respond to his bulls*** that the other team will lose a player of higher value than him. He'll never drop the gloves, but he knows what he does merits it and that's why you see the lumber-to-the-face defense every time he does this stuff. It's getting to the point that for the good of the league someone needs to put him out. God forbid some star gets railed by this pathetic piece of unevolved garbage. If Chris Simon gets "only" 30 games for trying to cut off a guy's leg, have someone stab the little bastard. They'll only get 40 in Gary Bettman's league.

Hi guys, I've recently returned to the States from Australia. I have relocated from DET to Tampa Bay and have purchased NHL Centre Ice. My question is this--to veteran subscribers-- how many of the Wings playoff games do you get? What happens if a game is on NBC but there is a closer market game on-- do they show the Wings on centre ice? Thanks Redwingabner

WCF Game 5 (5/20): Ducks @ Red Wings, 3pm ET
RedWingAbner replied to motorcitykid's topic in General
I'm going to the game today. What do other attenders think about a new taunt for Pronger? How bout we he touches the puck, we chant "Lau-ren, Lau-ren" (His wife's name). Given how strange things ended in Edmonton, I think this could actually rattle him. -
As a Czech speaker, I can tell you it is probably pronounced KO-PETSCH-SKI. The important part is the "ch" sound as opposed to the "s" sound.

Chris Pronger and I have some differences. He's 6'6, I'm 5'11. However, we share a common trait. Neither of us has, or ever will, won a Stanley Cup.
-
because Pronger is a *****. I'm glad he's out there still. If nothing else, Bertuzzi can earn hero status if he knocks that f***** out of the game. Chris Pronger will never win a Cup, he always reverts to this cheap shot bs.

Ok, is it just me, or does it require you to be a ******* moron to be an official in the NHL? The rule states that if you lose sight of the puck, you blow the whistle (hear me out here). So, assuming the refs had not lost sight of the puck on both of those goals, they should have been able to signal "goal" on the ice, correct? They didn' signal goalt. So, they could not see the puck. Thus, the whistle should have been blown and the play would be dead. Remember in the "good old days" when refs would blow it dead with waving arms? This officiating has brought me "out of the shadows," its been so bad. Hopefully Anaheim enjoys that gift of a win.

Funny how you left out games in which Anaheim lost to the Sharks. The Sharks beat the Ducks 4-3, 3-2, and 3-2. What's more, the 5-0 game was in early November (which is a real barometer of your season?) and the Sharks were sans Cheechoo. The 7-4 game included an empty netter, but even including those goals, the Ducks only outscored the Sharks 29-20. Take away the empty netter and the laugher, and it's 23-20. Couple that with the fact that as the season got closer to the playoffs, the Sharks outshot the Ducks in 4 out of 5 games....one by a 42-19 count....so the "the god of Pronger" and his defense idea doesn't hold water. I'm not doubting that your team is good, but don't omit things to try to make a better point-- someone fact checks and you look foolish.
