My post is not based on just one good game, I've actually been impressed since his promotion to the 2nd line.

Don't get too excited, San Jose. They are setting up for Mission: Massive Fail in OT.
-
Agreed--but who takes them? I think most teams would know San Jose needs to shake it up, and may try to get a steal....or....if they can make a move, those salaries (save Marleau--isn't he a UFA?) would be unmovable given that Thornton is the Phantom of the Postseason and Nabokov is setting a new standard for being a penny-slug goalie.

Did I just hear correctly that he's given up 5 goals on 16 shots? This guy has Cheveldae written all over him.

I really like the Bertuzzi-Filppula-Zetterberg line. It, combined with FDH, gives our top two lines a "backup centre" should someone get booted from a faceoff and they all seem to work well together. And, Jason Williams sucks. Does he have compromising *** photos of Ken Holland or something? Why did this guy get $1.5 M?

How was Setoguchi's play goalie interference? I've seen that goal 200 times before--it's just a goal. What, players can't go to the net anymore? Is anyone old enough to remember Dallas Drake's first NHL goal? He just rammed into Bob Essensa. Those were the days.

I wonder how his agent pitched each team to him: Detroit: Perennial contender! You may not play right away, but in time, you'll contribute. New York: The big apple! What a great time you'd have playing in the "center of the world." Toronto: The tradition! New York-lite, but much more into hockey and certainly a big showcase for you! Chicago: A team right on the cusp! They are young and you'd fit right in! Edmonton: Ummm.....do you like reporters? Do you like having nothing to do outside of work? If you want to play for a s***ty team, look no further!

I know I'm in the minority, but this is the kind of low-class idiocy that makes society look worse every day. Here you have two guys famous for being nothing more than asses. It's not even creative.

I think it's absolutely amazing that the Coyotes HAVE a devoted blogger. How old is the site? Was it just created? Can we just stop, Phoenix? Wasn't it a "Save the Coyotes" pep rally that produced 250 people last year? Come-*******-on. It would be cute for them to win a series if the "fanbase" wasn't so much the epitome of "bandwagon."

Speaking to a person associated with the organization, the feeling is that Lecavalier has basically quit. He's got a huge guaranteed contract, a Cup ring, and a nice home in a sunny area with no real possibility of being traded. As the "focal point" in the locker room, that attitude has spread a bit. It's divided between people who now see TB as a retirement home/party van vs. those who actually want to win. It's pretty bad.

To me, it sounds like the crowd of tea partiers just head over to the Verizon Center.

I didn't think he had been around this long: http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/ana100331.html

I want to play Edmonton. Out of the teams that are lining up 1-4, would anyone NOT want to play San Jose? I think that the Sharks may actually be mentally ready for certain situations-- but if their 1st Round opponent was Detroit, who thinks the Sharks long-termers (Marleau, Nabokov, for ex) would start to think "not this again"? Plus, the Sharks are really a one line team-- yeah, they have recently broke up the big 3-- but is anyone really afraid of Stay-Puffed Joe or Patrick Marleau on lines without Dany Heatley? I'm not. Bring on the Sharks. I'd like an easy series to start things off, please.

I have to give Filppula credit for his play recently. If he can keep playing as he has been, I will admit I was completely wrong on him. Not yet fully convinced, but getting there.

Good game against Vancouver.

There are more differences that just the era. The players are bigger + faster, and these hits are doing more damage. Yes, you can make an argument that it was always part of hockey. However, knowing what we know now about concussions, it is time to make some changes to protect the players from long-term injury. The NFL+College Football+High School Football is talking about eliminating the 3-point stance. Why? Concussions and head-on-head collisions. Yes, it's fun to watch a guy get completely smeared. It's also very dangerous, and I'd venture a bet that watching Gladiatorial combat would be appealing too. It doesn't mean times don't change, and it doesn't take away from the masculinity of hockey. It just shows that our society realizes that we can't allow someone to have their head smashed for our entertainment.

Hudler and Dynamo Moscow out in first round of playoffs

No, but just as likely. Just for you. I actually thought Flip had a decent game the other day. -

ZD+C is a big Filppula supporter. EZBAKETHGANGSTA was ribbing him. -

Filppula has the potential to: 1. Be the greatest Swedish player ever (I know he's Finnish. Limiting him to one country is an obvious mistake made by people who can't see his talent.) 2. Win the Stanley Cup single-handedly (Screw the KHL playoffs). 3. Be the Messiah awaited by the Jews. 4. Go back in time to kill Hitler. Anyone who doesn't see this is a moron. -
What If Everybody in Canada Flushed At Once?
RedWingAbner replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
To answer the question........what are we talking here, 15...20 toilets, tops? So....nothing. Just kidding, Canadians. -
I hear that Hawks fans get a copy of that song with their official bandwagon kit. They can turn it back in in 2 years when the team blows again and get a full refund.
-
Why not trade for him? Vancouver had interest in Filppula before; I would gladly take Kesler's power game over Flip's....whatever game. I think Filppula and a 1st for Kesler (provided you have a contract lined up) would be about fair.

Why is there so much love for Filppula on this board?
RedWingAbner replied to ebl96's topic in General
Hey, it's everyone's favorite hypocrite. I told you, your stat analysis as to why he, based on this year's numbers, was paid fairly was good. Multiple times. You ignored all other posts I put in this thread save for one you cherry pick. The Kesler example was used in reference to another poster who asked for AN EXAMPLE. I provided one. Filppula is not overpaid based on PPG. Being used as a #3 center was a redundant piece. Let's see how he does as the #2 center, then it may be well worth the $3M. -

I love how the Filppula crowd jumps in and tries to make Kesler's contract an example of why I'm wrong on Filppula. So, Kesler's projection of 27 pts=$1.75 M, Filppula's 36 points earned him $3M. I bet Kesler wishes he put up just a few more points, by that logic. So what if he wasn't a point-per-game AHLer. Kesler is still the better player.
