Darn. I was looking forward to seeing him play against us.
-
Has anyone been able to watch any videos on this NHL TV thing? Nothing works for me.

Sammy for Fedorov. It'll happen!!! It'll be a 3-way trade. Lang to Columbus for Fedorov, Fedorov to Detroit for Sammy Gotta move the lazy guys around to keep them somewhat motivated.

I think Hudler definitely has the skills to become a good scorer, but is trying to develop him even worth it with his lack of size? He played well last year and Babcock benched him in the playoffs because he was getting knocked around too much by the Sharks and the Ducks. He's not going to get much bigger. He needs to find a way to play against the big, tough guys, or he'll always be a depth player for us.

Doug Wilson is absolutely right. We were terrible in the first 4 games of that series and the Sharks should blame themselves for not putting us away. I don't understand how any of you can say there's no reason to fear the Sharks. If anything, we should fear them more, because I don't think they would let an opportunity like that slip away again.

I wish Robert Lang personally delivered tickets to me.

Much better than the Wings' splash page.

I think this team is better than the team that started last season, but worse than if we still had Calder and Bertuzzi. Both of them (or at least Bertuzzi) could help us tremendously if they were given the time and opportunity. We're probably better off with Rafalski rather than Schneider if Rafalski's defensive play is as good as people say it is. He might not have the rocket from the point, but most of Schneider's shots got blocked in the playoffs anyway

It's not really fair to judge Lewis by what he did with the Wings. I hated the way he coached our team, but I bet he understands hockey better than Babcock. And he must've learned something from working with Scotty Bowman all those years. I really don't know what kind of coach he was in Boston, but their failure can't really be blamed on him either. They had a pretty crappy team there. I think he deserves another chance.

Hey, Calder didn't suck. Babcock was just stupid.

From Free Press article about Zumaya coming back: "At last, he is poised to return tonight. There hasn't been as much anticipation for a Detroit athlete's comeback since Steve Yzerman, after radical knee surgery, stepped on the ice for the Red Wings in February 2003." Cool, someone still remembers Yzerman

Well, whenever I see Leafs games on CBC, their fans are loud.. Or maybe it was just that last game of the season against Montreal for the final playoff spot in the East :-P
-
Well, the Wings aren't exactly the most exciting team to watch anymore. The Leafs suck, but their crowd is so loud that their games are actually fun
-
Why the heck would they fire Bill Clement? He was the only guy on NBC/VS who didn't sound like a retard.
-
I don't know how the heck you reached that conclusion. We have plenty of talent for a good power play. The way it was executed was the problem, not the players. For example, Babcock made no adjustment when all our shots from the point were getting blocked, or when Lang repeatedly gave the puck away with the exact same pass in front of the net (which he has been doing the whole season). Heaton: I didn't know that I was just going off of what I saw in Game 5 against the Ducks, which we would've won if we could just score one PP goal. Same with Game 4 where, as far as I can remember, we failed to score on two 5-on-3s.

I was just wondering.... how long has Lidstrom been considered a superstar in the NHL? I wasn't a Wings fan in the 90s, and watching the 97 and 98 championship DVDs, I didn't get the sense that Lidstrom was popular or that he was recognized for his play. I figured people didn't really notice him for a long time because of his lack of physical play and things like that... Jagr has probably been well-regarded since he came into the NHL because he's always been a great scorer.

I don't know if you noticed, but I said myself that work ethic was not the problem And you're right, it was a hard fought series, and the Ducks certainly didn't destroy us. In fact, I think the Wings outplayed them. Like you said, we lost due to a numbef of factors. Those factors are the ones I listed earlier. The ones that hindered our play all season long, the ones that Babcock and the good work ethic didn't correct.
-
You'd think so, but we had a good work ethic in the playoffs and it didn't solve any of those problems.
-
Unfortunately, a strong work ethic doesn't solve problems like a crappy power play, inability to get the puck out of our own zone for 2 minutes, and giveaways on shots 70ft from the opposition's net.

From what I saw last year, Chelios wants to win it more than anyone, even though he already has. Probably Hasek too. Let's win it for them, so they can finally retire... Anyway, I don't think this trying to win it for one guy thing really works. We tried to win it for Yzerman last year when everyone thought it'd be his last season, and besides Yzerman, barely anyone showed up to play.
-
Me too. His commentary definitely wasn't professional, and he probably would never be hired by a network with any integrity whatsoever, but he made the idiots on Versus/NBC more bearable. Come on, he showed them some respect! Remember when the Wings lost Game 5 to the Ducks and Bill Clement made a list of categories you have to dominate in to win the game? He read each one and had the other announcers say which team was better. Hull picked the Wings in each category

The members of this public message board, one where people come to state their personal opinions regarding the Red Wings, would like to apologize to you for making you read things you don't agree with and wasting minutes of your valuable time daily. From now on, we will only state opinions you would agree with, because the most important rule of this forum is to make you happy. I think it even says so in the forum rules.
