Should Hamilton get an NHL team?

I know, and I agree, it was kind of a dumb move. My point was more directed to Legionnaire11 who said that Nashville sold full tickets, not deposits. I was suggesting that it would not be prudent on the part of Ballsillie to sell fuLl tickets. Heck, I think it would have been a better idea not to take deposits either, because it certainly gives the appearance that he intends to move the franchise. Edit(sp)

Should Hamilton get an NHL team?

While this may be true, I think one has to take into consideration a few things with Hamilton, and Ballsillie: 1. This isn't going to be an expansion club, it's an exisitng club. Ballsillie isn't competing against other clubs in a bidding process (as of yet). 2. I don't think he could realistically say that he was getting deposits for season-tickets IN CASE the lease agreement falls through if he charges the full amount. Not only that if he charges the full amount, he would have to a) come up with a ticket price, which he probably doesn't know yet, b) ultimately admit that yes he is bringing the team to hamilton, which as of yet he has not done, even though his actions indicate he would. 3. I'm not sure he can legally sell tickets to an event (hockey game) which there is a high possibility might never occur. Particularly when there is no set date for that event. I imagine once he actually owns the club he might be able to, but I don't know either way. Edit(sp)

Should Hamilton get an NHL team?

No, I don't believe there are 80 boxes. I think there are somewhere b/t 40 and 70. From what I understand, though, the original engineers of Copps Coliseum, intentionally designed the arena in a fashion where the entire top of the arena can somehow be raised so that extra corporate boxes and seats could be installed. They don't have the number of corporate boxes required by the league, but apparently it would not be difficult, just expensive (140-150 million) to upgrade the arena. Edit (source) http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...beSportsHockey/ Apparently it can be retrofitted for up to 200 corporate box seats.

    Nashville's days appear numbered

Actually, the league will look like a bunch of dumb-asses if they don't allow a sale to go through to Ballsillie when he's way over-paying for a hockey club, and has already out-sold the Predators current season ticket holders with deposits on seasons tickets in what a matter of 2 and a half days? Gotta say, it just shows the bog is made up of idiots if they let this deal fall through b/c they don't want Hamilton to have a team. Bettman's an idiot if that happens. No wonder the NHL is being run into the ground. Good solid business sense? Let's not follow that path. Keep a failing team in Nashville instead!!! I think the disappointed poeple will realize it is the fault of the league, not Ballsillie that the deal wouldn't fall through, if that's the case. Time will see...

    Nashville's days appear numbered

Given that Research in Motion has recently purchased that peice of land outside Cambridge, beside the 401, and Hamilton's Mayor reported that a lease agreement with Research in Motion had tentatively been reached with Copps Colliseum, I would say that old Jimmie is looking at putting the Preds in Hamilton temporarily while he builds a new arena in Cambridge...just outside of the territorial limits of Toronto, and Buffalo. http://www.stoneycreeknews.com/scn/viewpoi...int_802112.html Other info I've seen subsequently (can't remember where) suggest that the Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger may have let the proverbial cat out of the bag on this one, rather than keeping his lips shut. And the circus continues....

    Gordie Howe Autograph Signing

Yzerman has done signings in the past, and the most recent one I can remember was in 2004 (I think feb) and at that time the fee was 100. USD. In retrospect, I should've have gotten one (my personal opinion) but it was a private signing, so you didn't actually get to meet him, so I didn't want to spend that kind of money and not even get to meet him. Kind of a bummer. I would give my left.....arm for an autograph from him, though.

    The Predators have been sold.

Perfect spot, right near the 401... ...wipes drool off face...

    The Predators have been sold.

If Predators move, under the ownership of Ballsillie, it will be to 1 of 2 cities only: Hamilton, Ontario, or Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario. Otherwise he would never have bought them. His goal is not just to own an NHL team, but to own an NHL team in this area. The area he wants to put it in is about 45 minutes to an hour from the Air Canada Centre (home of the Leafs) where the hockey fan base outnumbers the ticket availibility by astranomical amounts. The area will have zero problem supporting another NHL team. The situation is different, I believe than the other 2 areas. Think of it basically as Toronto having 2 teams...

    Opinions: Most improved player?

Oh man, I totally forgot about Quincey! This kid wants a roster spot! He played really solid defense for the time he was out there, and while he didn't have any goals, he had a lot of good chances!
