You know, I've never really had a huge problem with Lang. I figure, yeah he doesn't skate quite as hard as some of the other players, but I never had a huge issue with it as long as he produced. And for the most part he's been effective. Even in the playoffs. But lately, just watchikng him float around on the ice, not skating hard, AND not producing is making me want to vomit. He is progressively getting worse. His performance last night was pathetic. I found myself screaming at him at the TV. No hustle. Couldn't be bothered getting back defensively. Just floating in the neutral zone waiting for the long pass. Williams hasn't produced either, and I'm not defending him, but at least in last night's game he was moving. He may have been useless as well, but he seemed to be trying (just not succeeding). It was nice to see Filp spending a little time with Willy and Lang, but here's the thing; Why not split up the dynamic duds of Willy and Lang. Neither of them are effective right now. Put someone else on there. Maybe that will light a fire? (hopeful thinking). Put Willy with Hudler and Langfeld, and Lang with Filppula and Ellis. Maybe the mixup with some youth will help Lang, and being away from Lang will help WIlliams. I don't want to trade Lang if only because he was one of the few players we had show up in the playoffs last year. We're going to need help with points, and I'm hoping at some point he can pick it back up (even if just in time for round 1). I love the idea of benching him for his lack of effort. Hell, I'd like to bench (or trade) Williams too. The only issue with this, is who do we replace him with? Sammy's still out, Cleary's out now, Kopecky's out. Maybe Lilja would be better on forward than defense??? I guess we'd have to call someone up. Hope for once Holland has something up his sleeve to deal with this.It's only getting worse, when it should be getting better. ..

Was this part of the new contract with the NHLPA or just your personla thoughts? If it was the contract, what was the purpose?

I dunno. Yes we won 3-0 the last game, but for the season we're now 1-1-2 against them. A 25% win rate is a little deflating to see. Especially when it's the team that wiped you out of the playoffs last season, and that same team is still fighting for a playoff spot (much like last season). To be honest, it just looks like we play crappy against Edmonton. I actually hope we don't finish in first this year, and take the fourth place, so we can face someone else. I don't care who we face, just not Edmonton. edit: spelling

Agreed. Lidstrom's a lock. And Federov would have been as well, if he stayed, but I don't see anyone else' going up. Provided he stays in Detroit, and plays with the same intensity he does now, Zetterberg, but even that is way to early to tell. Everyone else, I would say no to, or it's too early to tell.
