Don't hold back...tell us how you really feel...

Congrats on a great first season as head coach! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=277152

Not sure if it's been modified, but it says Canadian wings fans...

Screw the Blue Jays. I'd rather watch the Florida Panthers play the New Jersey Devils than baseball, or perhaps watch paper decompose (Sorry American fans, I just can't stand that game).
-
Yeah, I'd like to see the Wings and Caps in the finals. That'd be a good series. though the Pens would too. The thought of beating the Pens 2 years in a row is just too good!
-
Get off his back, people, he's just doing his duty as a hockey fan!

I think Bettman would sh!t if they did that. Hey would all the players be fined for wearing an octopuss? Or does that only apply to zamboni-drivers who twirl them? edit: spelling

The "I Support Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart" Thread
CdnWingsFanEh replied to xBrave_Heartx's topic in General
Umm...If I'm not mistaken, Stuart has a no-trade clause in his contract (at least the first couple years, anyway) and has indicated he liked Detroit, and therefore is unlikely to waive it. I don't think you'll see him traded any time soon, regardless how much you might want it. -
With all the players Holland has to sign yet, I don't think Conklin is anywhere near the top of the radar. I'm sure he's thinking about what to do, but it's not as important to him. Other than that, who knows. I would bet Holland doesn't even consider goalie issues until off season...

Hudler. Others, too, but definately Hudler.

Which Wings have disappointed you this year?
CdnWingsFanEh replied to KrazyGangsta's topic in General
Yeah, I agree with this, with Kronwall, and Rafalski tied for third. -
My personal favourite... Rex Hudler...
-
Wow, I never really thought about it. I wonder how much of Hossa`s decision had to do with coaching, if any?

I don't think the wings have made an official announcement, but for anyone interested in attending the red wings open practice this year, it will be happening on 28 March, 2009. There as of yet is no time mentioned, or fee, it is simply listed on the wings events calendar. Just a little info for people who need to make advance plans for this to keep the date open. http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...ge&id=26539

OK guys, I'll tell you how it works. The players who do these sessions are hired by a promoter. The promoter contacts the Wings or the player's agent (not sure which) and contracts the player to do a couple hours of autographs at whatever the rate of the contract is. This may be a flat rate, or it may be a flat rate plus a certain amount for every autograph. It depends on the specific contract. Ultimately, the player has absolutely no say as to what can be charged for an autograph. The promoter is the one who sets the amount of the autographs. As far as why people would pay for an autograph, who knows? Everyone's different. I can tell you that coming from Hamilton, On, it takes 3.5 hours just to get to the Detroit/Windsor border. I come to get autographs now and then, b/c it's fun. It's nice to meet the players, and get them to put their autograph on a jersey or stick or whatever. Rather than driving that far on the chance that I might get to meet a random Red Wings player at a game or somewhere in the city, it gaurantees that the player I am going to see WILL be there, and that I will definately get their signature. It's great if you can get an autograph free, but when you can't this is a great way to get them.

My guess is that Ozzie played extremely well in the third period and on in the last game, and Babcocke wants to keep him playing to see if he will continue playing like that. Ozzie's been slumping, so when he plays well, reward him, and see if he can continue to play like that. The better he plays, the more he plays. The original idea was for Ozzie to be the #1, and Conklin the backup, no? If Ozzie can get back to last year's form, then I would feel far more confident with him in net in the PO's, than Conklin. My 2 cents.

bump. 2 days from now...

I wonder if the other wings tell them to wear the wrong one on purpose to get a good laugh at their expense? You know being the rookie and all...

Tries to figure out with the cap numbers, if with Zetterberg's new contract the Wings can afford to keep both Franzen and Hossa, and what the implications are on him getting an extension (this includes phone calls to his agent). ooh ooh! I got it! He practices in front of a mirror in hopes of landing the big gatorade or reebok commercial, because Crosby can't be their spokesperson AND the NHL's face as well. I mean the wWings have to get some coverage, too, right?
-
Agreed. Except for tonight's pk. At least twice in this game, he made bad plays by not getting the puck out of the zone on the pk, when he had it. This isn't an indictment of Lilja, as by far he's been the most consistent defenseman this year (ugh, did I actually just type that?) but rather of the penalty kill in general, as this seems to be a common thread. Bad clearings, and a failure to clear the slot have been killing the pk. As someone mentioned earlier, they showed the blocked shots in the 3rd period, and it was like 4 to 18 or something crazy like that in favour of Washington. I would be willing to bet all of our blocks were by Lilja. Also, what is with Kronwall, and his lack of ability to keep the puck in the attacking zone? He's been a turnover machine lately.

Should the Red Wings Fire Assistant Coach Brad McCrimmon?
CdnWingsFanEh replied to Winged_Wheeler's topic in General
That's in a different thread... -
I'd be curious to know how many of our games this year have been decided with goals against us of 3 or more, whether we won or lost. I'm not bashing the goalies here, just curious. how many games last year did we have where we had 3 or more goals in it? I don't know the numbers, but it certainly seems much higher this year. The penalty kill really needs work. They players just aren't clearing the puck enough.. edit (sp)
