The original picture was much bigger, and showed the refs all conversing by the score keeper, with one on the phone (must have been about a questionable goal).

I would think that the people who should be most mad all the way around is the team that comes in 9th place in the west if Columbus wins this game, and is in 8th place at the end of the season by 1 or 2 points.

Actually, in this case the price for fame and money was to sit out a single game as a scratch... As for whether he earned it or not, I guess that's a matter of opinion I'll have to disagree with you about. He gets paid to be a hockey player. Maybe he would have been there had he known as far in advance as Crosby, but it also seems that Holland didn't want to call him at home to tell him he could play in that Columbus game if he simply attended. He likely did not know this was an option anyways. You seem really upset that he didn't attend. Just curious. Did you have tickets to this event?

I for one hope Nick had a good time a Chuck E Cheese, cause that time with his family is sure as hell more important than going to the all star game. He's gone the last 10 years. I think he's earned a bye this year.

Don't kid yourself guys, Lidstrom with a walker in the corner would be pretty bad-ass. Of course his PIMs would go up, what with swinging the walker around, and all. But he would create an aura of fear on the red wings that the team really hadn't seen since the days of Probert... My vote definately goes to Lidstrom, but the above scenerio only reinforces it.

This is just dumb. Way to go commish... At the same time, I kind of like the suspension in a way... Maybe with Lidstrom and Datsyuk getting the extra rest, it will let them heal a little better. An extra forced day off to recouperate can only help. It's one less game to add strain to the injuries, and 2 (I think?) days extra to heal. I'm looking at this as a positive. Hey, what if the extra time off makes them kick up their play a notch, and the Wings repeat as champions? What a better way of getting back at Bettman? Actually, I'm really glad they aren't attending. The rest is more important than the asg.

Aw crap! Why do I always get it stuck in my head there are 84 games, when there is 82? I think it's b/c that's what I think would make it work better...

Interesting ideas. Here's my thoughts on the schedule format: At least 1 set of home and home games with every team (not necessarily back to back) in the league, for a total of 58 games (29 teams X2). In addition to this, 1 extra game against every intra-conference team for a total of 14 extra games (rotate from back and forth, from year to year the home team for these). In addition to this, 3 extra games against divisional opponents for a total of 12 extra games (4 teams X3). 58 league-wide games 14 additional conference games to the league games 12 additional divisional games to the conference games ----------------------------- 84 game schedule. This would mean 6 games against divisional opponents, 3 games against the other teams in your conference, outside your division, and 2 games against the teams in the other conference. I think this woud keep the higher number of divisonal teams, like the league wants, but give a home and home series for every team, which nearly every fan would want... As far as playoffs, I really don't have a huge preference, but I don't like the current format. I would like to go to some form of divisonal format. Make a bye if needed i order to work things out... edit: clarity

I agree we should rotate them. My only thought is maybe Ozzie should get a couple extra games at the start to get him back into the swing of things, since he's only played 1 game since coming back.

Exactly. Raflaski's a great player, but he's made a lot of defensive errors this season. The scary thing is that I think he's been more of a defensive liability than Lilja this season. The fact that he has been so good offensively has covered this up/made up for it a bit. He needs to pick up his defensive play a bit. I love Ozzie, but I gotta say he really doesn't belong in the ASG, based on his play this season. Hopefully he picks it up a bit, too...

Ok, but shouldn't he play the ZDH line every now and then just to give them a little playing time together? Not every night, but once in a while? As an aside, I liked seeing Z, and Hossa together...
