We just got back to our hotel from the game. It was a good game and the fans were pretty good. There were a lot of "fair weather fans" that left 5-10 minutes before the end of the game. That's always sad to see. Chara's penalty in the last few minutes took a lot of steam out of the Bruins and the fans I was near were upset. Some of the Bruins fans were being rude to some other Wngs fans (there were A LOT OF US) and several police officers had to come stand in our section for a few minutes. It was a fun game and the Bruins fans can be pretty loud when they cheer for their team. Oh, and I have to say, they have these big 'ole bear claw foam hands that are awesome! Boston needs to capitalize more on the bear mascot because bears are awesome and scary! LOL, it has been a good weekend in Boston, meeting other Wings fans everywhere we went today, including the Samuel Adams brewery tour (free beer!)

Yes, I really do think it is a dishonorable action. Maybe we don't understand the reason for them sitting out more than half the season, but players should be part of their team for the SEASON, not just the "good parts" they can cherry pick. It's not fair to the other players that have earned a spot on the team and it's not fair to the other teams that grind through the season. Sure, you can look at it as a trade deadline acquisition, but the whole situation stinks of "I only want to play if my team is doing well close to playoffs." Selanne knows about the regular season grind and the hard work that has to be put into the season because he is a veteran player, but let's be honest here and call it what it is: for him to sit out this whole time is a selfish move on his part. I'm not saying ANYTHING about disliking the Ducks for this happening, simply stating that if Selanne were to come back, I would no longer hold a high opinion of him because of the selfish action. The same applies to any player, regardless of team.

That is exactly my thought as well. If Selanne returns, I will no longer view him as an honorable / classy player.

I think Duck Guy was referring to the play-by-play team, not necessarily the refs. Although IMO the refs have not been at the top of their game and have called several phantom penalties.

This game is making my blood boil so far. Mostly because of the FSN West play-by-play team!!!! grrrrrrrrr I especially liked the "Franzen just cross-checked Bertuzzi. That's a penalty." but their REFUSAL to acknowledge that Bertuzzi completely ran Hasek from behind and was supported by TWO replay angles. Good for Cleary on not backing down from a fight, but did anyone else notice that gouge attempt from Pronger right at the start?

I'm no fan of Niederweiner. His action this season shows selfishness that should not be tolerated, IMO. I loved The Hockey News article a few weeks ago that ripped Niedermeyer for returning.

I like the comment that says "Pronger proved himself to be a major league ******* last year in the playoffs." Get real, Pronger proved that long before last year's playoffs!

My beer league team captain is a woman... and she is a very good player. She takes hits like everyone else, plus she's always in the midst of the action. She's a good 2-way player. Our league also has a women's team that has a reputation for being a very dirty / chippy team. They usually get away with hooks and slashes without penalty and if they don't, they argue about it like none other.

My first is probably a CCM replica jersey from back in 97. There are not any names or numbers on the jersey. Favorite item is a toss up between the 5 disc DVD set I had autographed by Scotty Bowman when I met him in Sarasota in 2005 and the number "19" book about Yzerman. I just got the number "9" book and it is made just as well!

I dunno, but he made a fool of himself for trying to argue the penalty. It was AFTER the whistle and even though it didn't hit Kopecky's nuts, an obvious intent to slash was made and it looked like a clear cheap shot. At least try to disguise it like Dom!

I read a similar post on Kukla's yesterday that suggested the attendance issues might be related to both teams being good teams but fans not becoming interested until playoffs begin. Kind of a bandwagoner approach.

I was commenting to my wife last night that he always seems to be doing best when he has a black eye. What was the movie where the guy always wanted to have a black eye so he would always play hard? I think it was Dodgeball, but am not sure.

The wife and I are meeting 2 college friends for the New Year's Eve game against St. Louis. You could consider it a gift, but I knew about it a few weeks ago so I could get time off from work.

I have Center Ice, but it always turns off the FSN broadcast right at the end of the game. I've never seen Red Wings Live and I hear about it nearly every game I watch from FSN Detroit. Since I don't live in Detroit, is there somewhere I can watch Red Wings Live online?

My sister-in-law lives oustide of Boston and she was in the city yesterday before the snow hit. She left early, but it was so bad that she had my wife find a hotel near her location and it took 5 hours to get to the hotel. I'm sure part of that is due to inexperience in snow (she just moved to MA) but surely it relates the trouble the entire city was experiencing. Also, one of my clients at work is located in Boston and they left early in the day to avoid getting slammed by the snow.

I hope he doesn't try that in Detroit. I live in Cincinnati and it's bad enough I can't watch Versus games from home. Hopefully something has been learned from the recent passing of William Wirtz and the Blackhawks relation with fans over the telecast of home games.

DITTO! I am starting to wonder why I paid for Center Ice because lately I have been able to get the games on HDNET and NHL Network. What a scam!
