I don't see why the ref skated away. Maybe he was going to center ice to make a call, but clearly there was an injured player and you can tell by the way he slumps after then initial hit.

Sounds like it was a good trip! My wife and I made a similar trip in May for Game 5 against the Sharks. We're planning a nearly exact copy of your trip for New Years Eve against St. Louis, but we have friends in Toledo who will b e joining us. Agreed. Even the Cyclones games have extremely poor attendance. Although $1 beer night and $6 tickets helps a lot. The thing about TW Cable not carrying Versus annoys me during regular season, but during playoffs, it kills me since nearly every game is on Versus!

Screw the NBA, poker is really what ESPN is after!

If anyone finds a phone number for NHL Network or Center Ice, I will call to complain, and I imagine a lot of us angry with the situation will do the same also. Emails can be ignored (and so can calls) but with a call, you at least make somebody listen.

I am extremely pissed about this too. I have Time Warner in Cincinnati. I wrote the CI people this morning, here is the transcript from earlier today and my reaction to the "airing" of the game right now: "You have blacked out the Red Wings vs Predators game for November 7, 2007. I enjoy Center Ice but I despise you when you black out the games I want to watch! For the price people pay to get these games, it is very upsetting to not be able to see a few specific games due to blackout. Thanks for raising my blood pressure today, clowns!" "Hi, The Detroit Red Wing / Nashville Predators game is airing nationally on the NHL Network, and therefore we cannot include it in the NHL CENTER ICE package." ""Airing"? I wouldn't exactly call this coverage on the NHL Network "airing" because they keep switching back and forth between different games. I've seen more of the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia game than of the Detroit and Nashville game. I can't believe I called my cable company and subscribed to this on your recommendation. I want to watch the ENTIRE GAME, not a 3 minute ADD moment." I am most likely going to cancel NHL network tomorrow.

Consider an ideal scenario where everyone uses the same equipment. The better players would be the players with greater skill and performance as an athlete, not because they have been given an advantage of having special equipment available. It's my opinion, but I'm not a fan of the idea of using heated blades.

I don't like the idea. I think professional sports should have to play the game with the same equipment "normal" people play with and at an even keel. Meaning most of us wouldn't have heated blades. To me, it feels like it gives an uneven advantage and that's not good sportsmanship.

I know you were being sarcastic; I also think the helmet style is irrelevant. Also, IIRC, isn't Ozzie a prankster in the locker room? We see more of Ozzie's personality than immediately meets the eye. He's more of a behind-the-scenes guy and you can definitely see that with the way he has helped track on-ice stats while sitting on the bench as backup. I also remember Mickey Redmond saying in last night's broadcast that Ozzie is very well liked amongst the team because of his personality.

They carry it in Dayton on channel 57. I live in Lebanon, which by some other service providers like phone companies, is considered South Dayton. It is so aggrevating! Plus I keep hearing commercials on the radio "The NHL is back! Catch the Detroit Red Wings and Anaheim Ducks on Versus weds at 7. Call Time Warner at 513 xxx-xxxx to get Versus today!" Then when you call Time Warner, they say "That ad is not our ad, it is done by somebody else. All I can do is log a request that you called." Assbags. I have been calling them every week since March and have gotten nowhere.

Ok, thanks. I think I will give it a try anyway when I get home from work. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I think this is one area where the NHL could seriously improve its fan relationship: make the games more available. I know they are involved in contracts with Versus, but not everyone gets Versus. If they put the stupid advertising blackout issue aside, they could have a major break though by putting games online for free so other people who otherwise don't have access can watch. [back on topic] Regarding tonight, I predict Wings 3-2, although I would love for a 9-0 crushing victory that we all wanted during the playoffs!

Joost has live feed of Versus? I was not aware of this. Can someone confirm that this works? I looked on the Joost site and they have a bunch of hunting programs listed under the Versus channel. I just want to know if this is a viable option to watch the game tonight instead of going to BW3 which is always a pain in the ass because nobody likes hockey and they always change the channel on me.

I can't even load www.nhl.tv at home. I tried at work and it displayed fine, but it doesn't even come up at all now.

I plan to get Center Ice but I am debating on changing tv provider. I currently have Time Warner and I live in Lebanon, OH, just outside of Cincinnati. Time Warner in my area does not have Versus, yet 10 miles away in South Dayton they offer Versus. So, since Center Ice blacks out games broadcast on Versus, I'll apparently be paying more this year for CI and getting less games. I am seriously considering Directv, but the thing holding me back is not being able to use my Tivo to record two channels at once. Anyone have any wisdom for me? I'd like to give Time Warner the finger because everytime I call about Versus they just say "oh we'll make a note that you inquired about it" and give me the run-around.
