I'm actually reading it right now and I'm about 40 pages from the end. It's been pretty good, although admitadly a bit biased towards the Avs since Dater writes about the Avs. The thing I like about the book is how he details the personal histories of some of the people involved, like McCarty, Bowman, and The Turtle. I didn't care much for his section on Yzerman because I felt Dater gave Yzerman a poor image in his book.

I play defense. I started first year of high school and am still playing today on a casual / pick-up basis. I am hoping to get back into an adult league next fall, but the interest for ice hockey in Cincinnati has changed since I have been in college and living elsewhere for some years. In high school, I worked at the rink for 3 years so I got to play for free! And of course, I drove the Zam. Pretty neat machine!

Ah... then I guess I shouldn't recommend bar hopping at Ybor City then riding the trolley down to Channelside for some more brewskis and late-night bowling? Enjoy Florida while you can; someday you'll be spending 50+ hours in an office.

Sarasota? I highly doubt Sarasota built an ice rink within the last 6 months. I lived there from July 2005 through December 2006. Closest rink to where I lived was JP Igloo in Ellenton... and that can hardly be called Sarasota. There are not enough young people in Sarasota to support an ice rink.

I think you're mistaken. I lived in that area for 1.5 years. There are three ice rinks in the Tampa area: St Pete Times Forum, the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon and JP Igloo Ice Center in Ellenton. I lived in Venice, which is about 1 hr 20 mins south of Tampa, so the closest rink for me was JP Igloo... and that was a 45 mile drive!

I lived in Tampa / Sarasota area for 1.5 years after the lockout and let me tell you, there are a ton of Lightning fans down there! I went to several games and each time they were completely packed. Plus the fans would go to local bars like Andreychuk's and the whole Channelside area would become this giant party zone the rest of the evening. Florida has an interesting culture because most of the people are transplants from another part of the country, like myself. I was pretty surprised to see just how many fans went to the games, even regular season games, and how a lot of the media and radio stations would regularly talk about the Lightning. Overall, I'd say the impression most LGWers have been expressing about Tampa is incorrect and they really do have a larger following than we might think.

I also feel Giggy deserved the Conn Smythe. If not for him, we all know the Ducks wouldn't have made it this far. I kinda feel like the NHL was confused with who to give it to, so why not give it to the captain? It's the most PC choice.

Agreed! My cable company (Time Warner) does not provide Versus either. I have been calling them every week and submitting requests online at http://www.timewarnercable.com/cincinnati/...r/feedback.html to help raise their awareness that there are people who want to watch Versus. I am sick of going to BW3 to watch the games. The last time I went, it was game 3 of SCF and the Pistons vs. Lebron James game was on all of the TVs except the one I requested to watch hockey. I was the only person watching hockey and BW3 management changed the channel on me 4 times because they didn't like hockey. Of course, I complained to the manager and he apologized, but it angers me that of the 1 TV showing hockey, people requested to have it turned to the basketball game when every TV except that one was already showing basketball. I wasn't even sitting around anyone else! It just angers me that our sport does not get more respect, nor do the fans get respect from other people.

Maybe Chelios meant if they were still playing the Ducks for game 7, he would have shaken hands? I agree, it was confusing. I had to read that line several times.

I was watching the March 26, 1997 game yesterday and thought to myself "hey, the current Wings should get Kozlov again." Well here it is, a real possibility!

My wife and I went to Round 2, Game 5 against the Sharks. The Wings won 4-1. My favorite moment was when Nabakov tried to shoot the puck around Datsyuk, but hit Datsyuk instead. Datsyuk scored an empty netter and the Joe went crazy!

I agree, I think Babcock has been a great coach for the Wings and I'd like to see him back.

Can someone post what is said during the radio interview? I don't live in the Detroit area and I'd like to hear what he says.

My facial hair grows in patches, so it doesn't look too good. But I kept one going during the Calgary series and had to shave in the midst of the San Jose series for a meeting at work. I'm somewhat lucky that I only have to shave once per week, but I think it would be cool to have a beard for playoffs.

My wife and I went to the game. It was our first playoff game and her first time at the Joe. It couldn't have been any better and more exciting than it was! Anyway we have no voices left right now and I think the Joe sounds a lot quieter on TV than in reality. It was pretty damn loud there!

FaithinRed, you're my hero! I bought Center Ice but VS isn't carried in my area, so I can't watch most of the Wings playoff games. Now I don't have to listen to the NHL radio feed! Thanks bud!
