Awful play with awful timing
-
Getting out-muscled on every play, no forechecking whatsoever in this game.
-
HATE HATE HATE Shouldn't you guys have moved on to a "Cleary SUCKS" thread by now?
-
Cup they haven't earned? Check. Pig nose? Check. Enjoy your mural.

Because it's a joke and yet at the same time a completely predictable move by a bush league organization like the NHL to put the Penguins in their second Winter Classic in 4 years?
-
You should go to the next Wings/Caps game in DC...make sure to wear your Wings' gear, count how many times you get called a ****** before you even make it into the stadium(don't bring kids). Seriously, I've been to games in Boston, NY, even Nashville...DC fans are a joke and sooo bitter. You might respect their team but they sure as hell don't respect yours.
-
Does the rest of the United States living outside of Pittsburgh care about the Penguins? I just don't see it. Personally I'd like to see all of the original six teams play before anyone else...I think Rangers vs. Maple Leafs would still do well enough (I'm not convinced anyone in this country would watch a straight up Montreal vs. Toronto game).
-
The NHL truly is a sad little organization when the best they can do is continually shove the Penguins out front and center. This goes beyond blind anti-Crosby or Anti-Pittsburgh hate, give some other teams a chance to have the same experience. Plenty of other good match-ups that could do just as well in the TV ratings.
-
I also live in MD and have dealt with ridiculous Caps fans all the way back to the 98 sweep. Most of them have no idea what they're even rooting for...it's rare to find a Caps fan who even cared about the team before Ovechkin appeared.
-
I was expecting a bigger reaction judging from the title...that was more of a "wtf?"
-
Isn't Barnaby brain-damaged or something?
-
2nd line is making a killing right now, and Bert is a big part of that. Another positive note, Bertuzzi has almost moved out of the negative +/- after hitting a low of -9 I think. Haters give it up.
-
Howard +1 for glorious Cindy facewashing.
-
Osgood fans seem to be taking it more personally than he is. We can't afford to throw him out there rusty and let him implode when every game is this crucial. That being said, I would be surprised if he didn't play at least a couple before the season is over.
-
Just saw this as well, seems excessive considering the other recent hits that went unpunished.
-
That was dumb, especially considering she was actually a Russian fan. Now, had she been some screaming teeny bopper Cindy fan...maybe
-
Agreed, it's worth a shot. And like I said earlier in the thread, as much I'd like to see some bigger skilled forwards, they're not exactly walking into Holland's office off the street. Power forwards are hard to come by these days.
-
Maybe not height, but no one is afraid of being hit by a guy who weighs 157 lbs. In general the top hitters in the league (the ones that make you yell at the TV when you're playing against them) are around 6'0 200 lbs.
-
This is true, although hitting statistics are always a little sketchy. Cleary and Eaves are two of the top hitters on the team, but do you think anyone out there on the opposition is worried about the hits they're throwing? I guess what I really mean is that I miss having some assholes on our team who actually force people to keep their heads up. Kronwall is probably the only feared hitter on the squad. 97-98 had some softies, but they also had some guys who would take your head off
-
Yes, that's exactly what I've said, you understood me perfectly. 19 fighters.
-
Because I enjoyed watching Red Wings hockey in the late 90s? Why does it bother people on this forum so much when anyone suggests that having a skilled team that is still capable of hitting and fighting is enjoyable? I'll be the first to admit that I'd much rather watch the 97-98 roster than the current lineup. It's not necessarily plausible anymore, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to suddenly forget that this team used to be made up of players who stood up for each other and yet were very successful. And, it's not like Hudler and this random guy will be the only softies on the team. I'm not trying to start another ridiculous "need moar fighters" debate, I'm just saying, I like watching a skilled yet physical team and this guy is even smaller than Hudler.
-
This is true, I do miss having a Shanahan in the lineup, but he is a rare breed these days.
-
Not sure I can handle two dwarfs on the same team (assuming Hudler comes back). I miss the days when the Wings' actually pursued guys who weren't strictly finesse.
-
No reason to get worked up about bad things happening to Chicago
-
I agree in principal that the Wings' shouldn't be losing to the Oil or the Blue Jackets, but at this point anything can happen.
