Bertuzzi will be fine, if you don't like it, there will be plenty of dead air for you to cheer in when Williams is on the ice. If +/- was as relevant as you seem to think it is, then you'd be complaining about paying Draper $1.6 million this season to achieve nothing (since his job is to be a responsible defensive forward and PKer).

Yea you're absolutely right, lets argue semantics, after all it's well known that +/- is completely indicative of the usefulness of every single player in the NHL.

Happy to have Bertuzzi back for $1.5 million. If you guys can justify Williams at that price, then it shouldn't be too hard to come up with something for Bert as well.

Malik can say what he wants, but unless he's assuming that Devellano is somehow personally confused on the subject, then his article refuting the rumor is meaningless. Devellano makes a point of saying FIRST "We just signed Jason Williams..." then he goes on to talk about signing Bertuzzi this week. The implication that it's just people getting confused between two separate interviews is obviously null at this point. For the rest of us, all we can do is wait and see.

Williams is 29... he has attitude problems.. he isn't a game breaker.. he isn't anything special. Atleast you know what your getting out of Prospal, Williams it changes every game. /fixed Seriously, what you said could apply so easily to Williams that I couldn't resist pointing it out. Williams is known for attitude problems, inconsistency, and being a huge ***** who disappears in the playoffs.

If you don't think the JLA is the quietest arena in professional hockey than you either aren't watching the away games, or you've never been to another team's stadium. The crowd at the Joe is embarrassingly reserved most of the time, especially compared to our division rivals. Maybe Detroit fans have been spoiled by success, personally I'm always there to cheer, but a lot of people don't seem like they give a s***, they just go for the novelty of going to a Red Wings game.

To entertain the fans? To see an exciting game? If winning is the ultimate goal, then why is the JLA easily the most reserved, least energetic arena in the entire league? That type of discussion goes both ways.

Rarely if ever will you see me pay the man a compliment, but it's clear that Samuelsson > Williams. We actually managed to replace Samuelsson with someone softer, which really amazes me. Williams is also lazier and less clutch, and is a complete no-show in the playoffs.

Let's hope by saying "I just locked up Jason Williams" he meant "I just signed Patrick Eaves which means Williams can go to the ******* KHL where he belongs"

No one complained about having "goons" on the team in the past, or even semi-skilled players who could fight...it's only become hip in the past 5 years or so to deny the entertainment value of having some grit on the team. Expect minimal support for a goon signing on these boards, you'll be labeled as a bandwagon fan if you question the roster selected by the management in any way.

I wouldn't mind if the Wings' picked him up, I like the fact that Tampa is footing some of the bill, and his numbers aren't bad considering he hasn't played with a team on Detroit's level.

Exactly, it's rare for me to say I'd take Sammy over anyone, but I have to agree. At least it was amusing to watch Samuelsson run his mouth after the ref was protecting him...Williams will just skate away with his tail between his legs.
