From the looks of the schedule, only Game 1 of the Wings/Blue Jackets series will be nationally televised? The rest of the games are on TSN, and it looks like the Center Ice package is done for the season...so are those of us outside the Michigan area completely screwed here?

Exactly, and since we've all seen various players go on anyway with mangled & broken parts, it must be something serious.

In that case I have to assume that both Rafalski and Draper have broken something serious, because I don't picture either of them being the type of player who wouldn't sacrifice for his team, and right now we need them.

As stated NHL Playoffs > AHL Playoffs. This isn't the farm team, bring Leino up and give Helm a proper linemate.

Something must be pretty wrong for them not to be playing...Game 3 feels like a must-win and at the same time it's not I guess.

Playing with 5 defensemen is going to wear these guys out fast...Chelios/Meech is basically like having no one there at all.

Is it clear enough yet that if Helm had decent linemates (meaning: not Kopecky) the 4th line could be putting points on the board right now?

QFT. If Downey got in 1 fight today he'd have accomplished more than Kopecky has during this entire playoff run.

Just FYI fights don't put a team on the PK...it takes two to tango. 50 of Downey's penalty minutes were fights. Lilja on the other hand had 15 minutes in fighting majors out of his 93 total minutes. Downey was never a liability in the way you're implying, good try though ^^

Mindless pessimism? Chelios is far from the worst fill-in player the majority of teams would have at their disposal.

That sucks, but honestly I thought Chelios played well that last few games he appeared in (not to say I wouldn't rather have Rafalski in)

Yea I think having Helm around enhanced my calm about the 4th line, it didn't really matter who he was paired with, I was usually looking for #43 the whole time.

Or we could always remove everyone's favorite dead weight from the 4th line. I'm expecting to see the Ducks' clobber him relentlessly.

I believe other previous winners have won based on things that happened earlier in their careers, sometimes it takes awhile to acknowledge a contribution to the sport.
