Ridiculous statement...calling Downey "useless" while Kopecky is dressing every night cancels out that argument completely. Personally I find it kinda embarrassing the Wings' have managed 7 fights this entire season. The next closest team being Carolina with 19. I'd much rather be closer to the middle of the pack with the Bruins (30) & Sharks (26).

I'd say those are pretty confidence inspiring words from the man himself...the Wings are about to surprise and agitate a lot of teams and fans around the league with these signings

Looked great out there today with Kopecky benched, he wasn't missed in the slightest.

Honestly, it seems crazy to think that the Hossa connection could really have that kind of pull, but at this point Hossa living at Kopecky's house really seems like a possible answer that won't go away.

I honestly don't know what the coaches see in Kopecky. He's not tough, he's not a good skater, he has the point-getting ability of Downey minus all fighting skills. From what I've seen Downey, Helm, Abdelkader > Kopecky in terms of providing an attribute the team is currently lacking. Kopecky floats around throwing love taps and losing the puck in 99% of attempts to skate it up the ice. Re-signing Kopecky means we're looking at the same 4th line next season that we have this year, because I really don't think Draper or Maltby are going to retire after this season. Even if they did we'd still be stuck with their salary anyway.

Kopecky is one of the worst players to earn a permanent roster spot on the Wings in the past 10 years. He fills absolutely NO role on this team well, and is taking a spot away from numerous players in GR who would serve the team better.

Exactly...rarely if ever will you see Babcock flipping out like this, or publicly complaining to the media about officiating.

I didn't even read the thread, but Gretzky is easily the whining'est, crying'est coach in the whole league I don't think the Coyotes have ever legitimately lost a game in his mind, they are always robbed by officiating.

People can continue to hate on him all you want, Schneider was also our only defensemen during this time that didn't play like a complete ***** and was capable of playing with a chip on his shoulder (unlike Rafalski, Schneider was actually decent at throwing a few hits rather than just constantly receiving them). No one seemed to mind when Schneider was decking Tootoo back when Nashville was relevant, still a popular video on youtube. But again, seems pretty unlikely that he's coming back unless Holland has some plan to dump several players.

Suprising number of people s***ting on Schneider considering the various clutch goals he scored, especially during a time when everyone HATED Lilja. 164 points in 231 games to be exact. As for relying on Chelios for veteran depth, I wouldn't rely on him to do anything more than carry extra sticks out to the bench during the playoffs. He is DONE. (This doesn't mean I think the Wings' will get Schneider back anyway)

Kopecky has to be one of the worst grinders in the league, he's leading the team in "hits", yet I don't think he's wearing down or intimidating anyone with his lovetaps. Dallas Drake was a ******* grinder, Kopecky is a clown and a waste of space. He now has 22 points in a 153 games with a +/- of 0. Comparing him to Maltby and Draper who should both be retiring after this season doesn't raise his stock at all, the "best" of the worst doesn't say much. Oh, and since you brought it up, Boyd The Void Devereux is infinitely better than Kopecky will ever be.

Pretty bizarre decisions on this team lately...it really boggles the mind that Kopecky has an untouchable roster position.

Actually I played hockey for 15 years, but that has nothing to do with me not worshipping Ovechkin and the flavor of the month Caps. I've lived in MD for 20 years and I've had to take nothing but s*** from scummy DC fans the entire time. I've been to every Wings vs. Caps game in DC since 95, including the 98 series sweep and it's been nothing but ignorance from the majority of their fanbase, much less the new bandwagon fans he's brought in. Just yesterday I had people outside the stadium calling me a ****** for wearing my Shanny jersey 5 minutes after I parked my car. I've been to games in Boston, Nashville, Dallas, Minnesota and COLORADO and never had people act like such trash. You'll have to excuse me if I don't give a f*** about Ovechkin and the Caps.
