2 goals on 4 shots...
-
Holy s*** that was bad.
-
My biggest concern was this appeared to be Lidstrom's worst game of the season. He really didn't look like he even cared out there.
-
Stuart is probably not even in the top 10.
-
I'll relax when Osgood isn't the holding the worst save percentage in the NHL. Until that time I will remain critical, yet respectful, of his play.
-
So your conclusion is that Osgood can play as poorly as he has as long as we win? Does the horrible, embarrassing, inexcusable center ice goal not count because it wasn't the game winner? I'm hardly one of these people that says "Osgood sucks! get him off the team", but realistically his play has been poor and he should answer for it. My point is that Osgood is NOT AT ALL playing up to par to be the starting goaltender for one of the top teams in the NHL. I'll leave this thread with the quote that summed up the last Osgood thread, from Bruce MacLeod: "Coach Mike Babcock is obviously fed up with his team's goaltending and he should be. Three straight games giving up a goal on the first shot against ... that alone would be bad. But tonight, the fat rebounds, the lack of hugging the post, the soft outside goals. The goaltending is so bad that it makes you forget about how soft the team defense was. If either Conklin or Osgood gets hot, Babcock will ride them."
-
Oh, I'm sorry...I forgot that the single game you used as your example was Osgood's only poor play this season. It's not like he's played horribly in numerous other games this season. And surely he didn't let in ANOTHER CENTER ICE GOAL against the blue jackets? No, you're right, Osgood just had that one bad game and no one should ever question him about it. My mistake. Edit: Oh and I almost forgot about him letting in goals on the first shot against in both of his last two starts?
-
Play better and no one will ask you difficult questions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeswBGe9QPc I'm not sure how it's even debatable, did Burrows miraculously go from being 3" shorter than Arnott to 6" taller immediately before impact? He left his feet like a ***** and should have been penalized.
-
As much as I dont like Nashville, Arnott had every right to be pissed. Vancouver played a dirty game, and Burrows was practically a foot off the ground. NHL officiating continues to fail at an alarming rate. Vancouver loses a few games in a row and decides the best way to handle that is to goon it up? they must be taking a play from the Calgary/Edmonton book.

I'm sure Michelin probably has an extra mascot costume lying around their office somewhere

Melrose Hopes Tampa Doesn’t Win Another Game This Year
Mors replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
Well, I guess that's how our opinions differ then, I for one enjoy seeing Melrose embarrassed in any forum available, although "professionally" is debatable since Melrose would have to be a professional at something other than hating Detroit to qualify. -

My point is valid whether you attempt to throw a clever response at it or not. No self-respecting Red Wings fan should feel any sympathy for Melrose or his current plight, this guy has done nothing but spew Anti-Red Wings koolaid for years. Mr "I picked against the Red Wings in every playoff series, in every round, every year, forever" should shut his mouth. -
Melrose Hopes Tampa Doesn’t Win Another Game This Year
Mors replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
The constant ebb and flow of this forum is a joke. When they hired Melrose, it was "f*** Melrose", when they fired Melrose, it was "f*** Melrose"...now it's poor Barry? how disrespectful of Tampa? Melrose is a joke and I'm sure he'll be right back on EPSN hating on the Wings' as soon as he can. At that point, the forum crowd will inevitably shift back to "f*** Melrose" again... you guys are a trip -
From Bruce MacLeod: "Coach Mike Babcock is obviously fed up with his team's goaltending and he should be. Three straight games giving up a goal on the first shot against ... that alone would be bad. But tonight, the fat rebounds, the lack of hugging the post, the soft outside goals. The goaltending is so bad that it makes you forget about how soft the team defense was." From Red Wings Team Report: "Chris Osgood has not resembled the goaltender who led the NHL in goals-against average last season and led the Red Wings to the Stanley Cup with solid performances on a nightly basis during the season and in the playoffs. Osgood continues to struggle nearly two months into the season. That was evident in Thursday’s 6-5 victory over Vancouver, when Osgood seemed to be fighting the puck all night while picking up his 374th career victory, which tied him with John Vanbiesbrouck for 12th place on the NHL’s all-time list. He doesn’t appear to be as fundamentally solid, staying too far back in his crease, failing to cover the angles properly on many occasions, and allowing big rebounds. He allowed a goal on the first shot he faced for the second straight game. Osgood has a sparkling 11-1-4 record, but his goals-against average (3.17) and save percentage (.876) are among the worst in the league for a starting net-minder. He is benefiting from a powerful offense that ranks second in the league, and the NHL’s top-rated power play. He still has plenty of time to turn it around, but his performance has prompted coach Mike Babcock to rely more on backup Ty Conklin, who is expected to start Saturday’s game against Central Division rival Chicago."
-
Osgood has been awful this season, he's basically the worst starting goaltender in the league at this point other than Turco. I realize people idolize the man around here, but his performance last night was laughable, and he was terrible last week as well. Center ice goals again? I thought we were past that. Start Conklin until Osgood gets his head back together.
-
99% of the time, teammates will always help the guy who is close to getting a hat trick shoot the empty netter. The Wings' do this all the time, for example a few weeks ago when Hossa had those 2-goal games, everyone was trying to pass to him at the end. Stupid comment by Cherry.
-
This happens to me at almost every game I go to I see a lot of people at the games who are too busy texting or talking on their phones to even pay attention, I've even seen a guy reading the newspaper during the game before...yet they all get very offended when someone who actually WANTS to watch the game uses any foul language. To me it's ironic.
-
Are you sure you're not just a fan of hers personally? Apparently her draw wasn't important enough for the NHL to keep her involved in the community, as it appears her direct involvement ENDED in December 2005. There goes the league.
-
How "provincial" of me to think that people watch hockey to WATCH HOCKEY. It's a completely asinine statement to say she is important to the league. I'm sure Elisha Cuthbert's NHL.com blog brings in thousands of new fans per year, after all she's such a respected and successful actress, that's a completely realistic idea If giving some no-talent NHL groupie a blog on their site because she dates hockey players is the NHL's idea of marketing then this league is doomed. I'm sure all the 12 year old teeny boppers are getting their parents to buy NHL center ice packages because of Elisha Cuthbert. God forbid we just let the Stars and Flames deal with it on the ice. My first reaction after seeing the interview? "AWESOME tonight's game is going to be exciting". Do you honestly think the majority of "new" fans in the United States give a s*** about watching the Calgary Flames? absolutely not. The NHL should be happy to drum up any potential interest in these games that they can get. Their actions in dealing with Avery are as laughable as the overall officiating consistency of the entire league.
-
Your example involves one player referring directly to another player. That would obviously be inexcusable. Frankly, I could care less about millionaire Elisha Cuthbert's hurt feelings, and I think it's a joke that everyone is suddenly so protective of that "poor little girl" She dated Avery along with 3 other hockey players. Just because the NHL wants to protect their favorite groupie (why the f*** does she have a blog on NHL.com in the first place) that doesn't mean this should have been blown up into a huge incident. And actually, if you read what Draper said, he didn't support a suspension.
-
As I said in the earlier thread about this, considering some of the incredibly dangerous plays by "star" players (Pronger anyone?) that the NHL has failed to properly punish, a suspension because of inappropriate comments to the media is a joke. A fine is perfectly justifiable, but regardless of how sensitive you are, it's not appropriate to suspend a player based on his words. No other professional sports league would do this.
-
At $3 million per season he better step up his development, that's a little pricey for 8 points and -2 in 24 games.
-
I'm sure there were plenty of people there, but I would have a hard time caring about coming to see Atlanta play too...especially when the game ended 5-1.
-
For $15.5 million Avery will read anything the NHL wants him to
