I don't know why Ericsson's size is consistently mentioned as his saving grace, the guy plays like a complete ***** and barely utilizes his size at all...if this is his only positive attribute for $3.25 million then it's gonna be another rough year on defense.
-
Way too high, let's hope this source turns out to be incorrect...
-
I'd be alright with signing Jagr for around $1 million, if it somehow contributed to the Wings trading Hudler. I would also be alright with not signing Jagr, if it somehow contributed to the Wings trading Hudler

Draper and Osgood have both been integral to the team's past success, and they've been excellent teammates in the process. That said, it's time for both of them to retire. As Holland said, the torch needs to be passed or this team isn't making forward progress.
-
I'm not saying the Wings should try to re-sign him, but I'm gonna laugh next season if Modano signs somewhere else, puts up 30 points, and the Wings end up pissing away another million on Draper.
-
What we really need are more inane statistical analysis showing that theoretically Hudler would have contributed 187 points this season if the stars had aligned and we had all conducted the proper rites and rituals.
-
Biggest hit of Hudler's career was against his own teammate. Holland needs to put an end to this charade already.
-
Hudler homerism is starting to border on ridiculous now, did you guys grow up together?...Hudler's signing was just as unsuccessful as Modano's stint, he was useless for the majority of the season and failed to contribute anything during the most crucial series of the playoffs. If he manages to stay on this team another season, you'll be the only one celebrating .
-
Hudler's efforts have contributed 0 points to this series, he's setup no goals for a grand total of 0 assists. Modano is a better skater, has more experience, and his shot and ability to the play the point could help wake up the Wings incredibly sad powerplay efforts. When I think of "lost race" and "lazy," I'm looking right at Hudler, not Modano.
-
No reason for Modano not to play in place of Hudler at this point, Hudler was invisible for 95% of the game last night, and when he was involved, he was making terrible defensive lapses (including the one that led to Boyle's goal).
-
If anything, you should be comparing players by salary, not by position in the lineup. Comparing Bertuzzi at $1.5 million to Thornton at $7 million is ridiculous.
-
Kinda sad to see such definitive evidence after the fact, NHL officiating is one big letdown these days (for everybody, not just the Wings).
-
As much as the Wings coaching staff has been lamenting the lack of powerplay point men lately (outside of Lidstrom/Rafalski) I really don't understand why Babcock isn't going to put Modano in tomorrow night.
-
Yea, maybe if the local homer crew actually rolled the clip 5 seconds past Howard hitting Pavelski, to the point where PAVELSKI PUNCHES FILPULA IN THE FACE. It was pretty obvious, but the Sharks announcers refused to acknowledge anything happened other than Howard facewashing the divequeen.
-
I won't argue with the lack of effort, but Bertuzzi's "obvious board" was anything but...Pavelski whipped his head back like Bertuzzi was shanking him on the prison rec yard, blatant embellishment.
-
Bruins or Lightning would be least irritating to me...
-
These penalties didn't cost the Wings the game, their lack of hustle did... However, Pavelski is a ******* clown and his "shot in the back" embellishment on Bert's "boarding" call was beyond infuriating.
-
To be honest, I tend to agree, although it's not the most popular opinion around here. In any case, I try to stay civil, at least until the Wings lose a game
-
I will never root for Nashville in any situation, Canucks in 4,5,6, or 7 is fine by me.
-
I voted for Helm, only because he was so crucial in the Game 3 and Game 4 victories. Datsyuk is a given, always clutch. On defense, Kronwall and Salei were both great, especially Salei since I had lower expectations for him and he really stepped it up.
-
Modano played very well last night and showed he can still compete
-
I was actually thinking the same thing, Salei has been solid tonight.
-
As much as it pains to me ever root for the Ducks, I just can't stand Nashville. Hopefully Ducks in 7.

"Officer Bullock informed me that the enforcement of Municipal Code 38-5-4 is at the request of the NHL. Evidently, police supervisors were informed Wednesday night, either before or during the game, by League representatives that they don't want anything thrown on the ice. An officer has to witness the throw and nab the thrower on the spot, but it's something they can and will enforce. Apparently, distance from players is not an issue: any octopus on the ice is grounds for ejection and a fine. I asked if it applied to hats thrown down for a hat trick and Officer Bullock pointed out it'd be much harder to enforce on hundreds/thousands of hats versus a few octopi." http://onthewingsblog.com/2011/04/15/octodrama-update/
