We need Downey in the lineup ASAP. There are plenty of players who aren't making an impact that can give up their spot.

Lebda looks like a joke out there...-9 now in 11 games. As stated in the other threads about this, it's bad when Lilja looks solid in comparison.

In an ideal world we could get rid of kopecky, maltby, mccarty and lebda in one swoop...it won't ever happen though (much respect to Maltby and Mac, they're just past their prime at this point)

Both are currently expendable in my book

Take Kopecky out of all those equations and it might work...no reason to keep someone who contributes nothing.

Bring back Downey! We don't need McCarty's theoretical ability to score goals with his softer hands...we need someone who can actually fight. If McCarty is only going to play 4 minutes a night, then there's no excuse not to play Downey anyway.

At least Schneider has 1g 3a in the same number of games. Lebda hasn't given anything back in the other direction.

Lebda has looked horrible so far this season...as I said in the other thread regarding our defense, it seems almost requisite that Lebda be on the ice for EVERY goal against. I think in the last 2 games alone he was on the ice for 4 goals against, and he's constantly turning the puck over. Oh, and I almost forgot...there's no point in this guy skating fast with the puck into the offensive zone since he's completely incapable of passing or scoring in this situation. Draper can undoubtedly win faceoffs all day...if he's passing it to Kopecky and Maltby his efforts will be wasted.

Babcock is the coach and could say whatever he wants at the time, but our power play wasn't even in the top 5 in the league at the time when this whole "enforcer = power play" tag line started showing up in interviews so it really didn't mean s***. And yea...President's trophy, oh boy, I forgot that winning the President's trophy negates the need to stick up for your teammates and have some toughness. Let's continue to roll a useless 4th line that isn't tough AND doesn't score goals. We can have the BEST of NEITHER worlds with our current 4th line.

What are you basing your "no major injuries" on? your subjective opinion? there were a number of questionable injuries in the past 3 seasons. When a piece of garbage like Laperriere hits Lidstrom, I expect someone to go out there and beat his ass. Despite Babcock's insistence that our "power play is our enforcer" that's nonsense and it rarely proved to be true. It shouldn't be difficult for you to figure out that Kopecky is absolutely worthless with your statistical analysis skills. He has continually showed no justification for being on this team, especially with someone like Helm readily available...and sadly I could say the same for Maltby. Maltby is barely a fraction of the player people have come to love in the past, either one could be replaced in heartbeat.

QFT. Despite what some people seem to imply, the regular season does have importance and I'd rather not watch our guys get manhandled for the next 77 games. If you think that Downey and Drake had no impact last season then you obviously weren't paying attention. I think it's ridiculous to imply we can't give up 1 roster spot to a guy that actually fights and checks, we're already giving up at least 2 roster spots right now to guys who contribute little to nothing...

+1 Kopecky is the only player on this team who really hasn't done ANYTHING worth merit and still gets a roster spot. You can say Sammy puts up points for the money, you can say Maltby is a top PKer and a definite agitator, but Kopecky? I got nothin.

I would dump Maltby or Kopecky in a heartbeat for Helm in the lineup fulltime.

Sadly this is the only thing I could think of too I don't dislike the guy, I just don't think he's particularly useful, I'd rather see Helm.
